Clearing The Mist [Kei Amadis]

Voss Academy

The day had come, finally. But not without bother, as his mother had dropped him off at the Jedi Academy here on Voss, she had fuzzed over his robes making sure he looked the part and neat which he made him agitated to say the least. After she had gone however, Théo stood in a vast corridor dwafted by the thick columns that supported the upper platforms, the ceiling seemed to disappear into a haze of sun light streaming in from the dome. Around him he could see other walkways leading off to he did not know where and he suddenly became nervous.

He is here to meet his new master, an old friend of his mother's by all accounts back when she was in the Army of Light and only just making her way in the galaxy as padawan and assassin. His mother's history intrigued Théo considering how loving she is with not only him and his sisters, but with his father. It seemed odd to him. His father's history equally so, much he had gone through over life and now he has reached the pinnacle of grand master, which Théo is proud of, but also has a sense of pressure added to it. The son of the grand master must be strong and powerful right? He thought so and he could not wait to prove himself.

But still this place, there is a presence of the force that oozes from the very walls, alive and pulsing which he could feel, now that he understands what that feeling is about although he still has much to learn on how to harness it. It is intimidating this place and the isolation began to get to him. Théo moved over to one of the column in order to find solace from the vastness of the place. He pulled out his favourite wooden toy and began to play on the floor just to take him mind off the place, while he waited.

Coming in from the light pattering of rain with a drip or two running down his face, he wiped his boots at the door and brushed his hair free of water, the bright light catching his back from the early morning sun blurred his features for a second before he entered fully. Camouflaged temple robes on, brown and stone colored given the environment around the temple, Kei’s were cut shorter to assist movement as with some Jedi, he was wearing a black utility belt holding his saber unity, and black leather boots like usual.

Teaching someone so young, was not something Kei had attempted before, and had for several hours last night been sitting up thinking how to tackle it. It would take a gentle hand, but he was developing the intuition needed for it, and a strong sense of patience for his students. So far the two padawans he was training were coming along well, and he was proud of them both.

A thin line of stubble framed his jawline as always, threatening to break out into more if left unchecked, and today it was around his often broad grin as he approached the child, “Theodred?” Kei said looking down, and squatting to be on the same level, not too close and giving the boy plenty of room.

“My name’s Master Kei Amadis, and I have been asked to teach you, is that something you’d like?” Speaking simply with the child but letting him know, and letting him choose was critical, you couldn’t teach a kid the same way as an adult, their attention span for one was nothing like the same, but perhaps Jedi children were different, he was about to find out!

The toy, that would be the first step.

It was working! Nima's lesson about 'listening' through the force, to all that surrounded you, although he could not know who was coming at least not yet, that would take a little more time for the young boy, but he has sensed Kei approaching. Théo looked up at the sound of his name, to find a man different to most of the Jedi he had seen in the Temple, nothing like his father at all. But there is kindness in his face, some sadness there too, almost written in the lines on his face. Although he did look like his dad in a way, with the growth of a beard starting to form. I wonder when I will have a beard? It seemed to Théo that all male Jedi have beards.

Théo scrambled to his feet, and bowed just like he had been told to do by his mother. "Yes, I am Kn... Padawan Théo Heavenshield, Master Amadis". Oh he is so ready to be a Knight, at least in the mind of this pocket sized Valkyri blood boy. As he stood, he reached heights of above average for other children is age and his body much stronger. His father's bloodline a strong influence in his build.

"I would like that very much Master Amadis, shall we go on a mission?", his hopes and dreams just spilled out of the boy. His eyes looked over his new master, taking in his clothing which only served to excite his mind further, no jedi robes like Théo had on but Master Amadis is ready for exploration in the jungles by the looks of him. No stuffy Master this one. Théo smiled widely.

"When will I get my lightsaber?", he asked eagerly.
