SPECIAL FEATURES

• Force of Nature
  • CCDs project a visible, dome shaped barrier over a programmed space that, once deployed, allows the CCD to alter and control the weather of the space within the dome.
• Light Filter
  • The CCD can alter its appearance to those not inside it. Ranging from completely clear to pitch black, the dome provides multiple options. Furthermore, the appearance of the outside does not bind the appearance of the inside. A CCD can be programmed to be an opaque black from the outside, but perfectly clear from the inside.

  • The CCD projects a physcial barrier that helps to block out unwanted effects of a planet's climate such as undesired weather or temperatures, and some kinds of wildlife

  • The CCD can alter the weather of the space inside its dome, artifically influencing plant growth and wildlife. Climate Control Domes can turning a frozen tundra into a temperate paradise, or a brutal rainforest into a peaceful sanctuary.

  • While incapable of camouflage, a CCD can appear transluscent or opaque to any onlookers, obscuring what is inside.

WEAKNESSES

• Power Draw
  • The more drastic the deviation, the more power the CCD requires. Turning the climate of a desert into the climate of a utopian resort is much harder than turning a desert into a slightly less desert
• Defenseless
  • The CCD posesses no external defenses, and is limited to standard internal defenses. Traditional sabotage could render the dome useless, and while the standard anti-virus can deter inexperienced hackers, a dedicated electronic assualt could also be used to take control of the CCD. Defense is the responsibility of the customer.
• Magicless
  • While the CCD can alter the climate and weather of an area, it can't actually terraform anything. If someone wanted to completely transform some aspect of a planet, they'd have to manufacture the geography themselves.
• Protego Minima
  • The physical barrier the CCD projects is quite weak and cannot act as a security system to prevent entry from most creatures. Some pests like small insects, rodents, or other vermin could be programmed to be kept out of the dome, but most creatures are able to simply walk past the barrier with little more than a bit of a static shock.

DESCRIPTION

What is likely one of Treatech's least insidious technologies, the TtCCDPS can be used for many purposes. CCDs can help species on the brink of extinction by providing the perfect climate for them to thrive it. It can provide shelter from deadly weather, it can be used by city governments to protect their citizens, and it can be used by farmers on remote worlds to boost their crop growth. They're reasonably priced too, with cheap models for personal use being fairly accessible.
