SPECIAL FEATURES
- Exceptional range, damage, and armor penetration
- Charging function to strengthen shots
- Bullseye: This handmade rail/gauss rifle possesses extremely long range, sufficient to strike targets accurately at incredible distances.
- Can Opener: The weapon projects large-caliber metal slugs at incredible velocities, particularly when fully charged, and can thus inflict serious damage.
- Charger: The trigger can be held for an extended time, then released to increase the power to the magnetic rails, projecting a particularly-destructive shot at the cost of rate of fire.
- Running On Empty: The rifle can only accept 3 of its ammunition slugs, owing to their substantial caliber.
- Manual: The lever must be manually operated to cycle the next slug into place, limiting the weapon's rate of fire.
- Cool-Off: A charged shot immediately activates a crude safety measure, causing the rifle to lose power and become inoperable for a short time.
A rather crude handmade Gauss rifle, this weapon showcases Cobalt's knack for makeshift weaponry. Made of parts from several different weapons, combined with wired-in power cells, it is surprisingly functional despite its ramshackle appearance. A small but powerful scope is mounted atop the receiver.
The rifle accepts .70 caliber slugs (most often handmade) into a short tube magazine, utilizing an incongruously low-tech system to feed them into the magnetic rails in the chamber. When activated, the slug is projected at staggering speed toward whoever or whatever is unfortunate enough to be in the crosshairs.
It is very effective against large monsters or light/medium armored vehicles, as the projectile's speed is sufficient to produce a slipstream effect, sometimes turning a target's insides into outsides in a shockingly violent display.
What's more, the trigger can be depressed and held, charging the magnetic induction system with more power. This is represented by a circular gauge on the right side of the receiver, which when fully charged will unleash the projectile at even greater velocities. In this state, the weapon is capable of tackling even heavy armored vehicles.
It need hardly be said that the recoil is like catching a right hook from a Rancor, and attempting to fire this weapon on the move is a waste of both time and ammunition. While it can fire somewhat faster when uncharged, the rate of fire is still slow, and both this and the limited ammunition capacity limit this weapon's viability against more than a few enemies at once.
While the charging system can greatly increase the power of the weapon, it also tests the durability of the system to its limits. Thus, after firing a charged shot, the rifle locks up for a short time, venting excess heat and allowing the system time to recover. During this period, it cannot be operated, rendering the user potentially vulnerable.
