STRENGTHS

DESCRIPTION


A somewhat unusual weapon handmade by its user, this is at first glance a simple slugthrower shotgun. Roughly but lovingly handcrafted by its user, Cobalt clearly takes excellent care of the weapon, as it bears few scratches and dents despite his active lifestyle. It is light, maneuverable, and handy, perfect for exploring tunnels and ruins.

The weapon accepts unusually large and powder-heavy shells (most of which are handcrafted to fit it), into a short tube magazine under the barrel. The user must manually operate the lever after every shot, thus feeding a new shell into the chamber. When needed, this can even be done single-handed, though this poses some obvious safety concerns.

This shotgun is quite rugged, being carried by its user across a hundred polluted junkyards and industrial sites. It has endured every form of fouling imaginable, and continues to function with gusto.

Given its powerful ammunition, this weapon's effect on unarmored or lightly-armored targets at close range is devastating, able to shred flesh and bone with ease. Such is the power of its shots that it does not suffer quite as much against armored targets as most shotguns do, and even the well-protected might catch the worst of it. Worse yet, Cobalt is occasionally in the habit of loading its shells with worse things than simple shot, and survivors of its wrath may find themselves picking rusty nails, small chunks of glass, or even odder things out of their flesh after a battle.

While it enjoys a surprisingly tight spread pattern for its size, and thus a slightly longer range than most such compact shotguns, it is still a shotgun, and thus best utilized within 50 meters or less.

Every effort has been made to make this weapon as short and concealable as possible, and as such it possesses both no stock for recoil mitigation, and a very short ammunition tube. As such, it can be difficult to use without a firm stance, and may need to be reloaded frequently in longer gunfights.
