OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
When Garven was first given the assignment to establish Task Force Vornskr, He began the process of putting together, developing, and procuring the equipment that his small black ops unit would require. With both stealth and lethality being a major concern for the sort of covert operations they'd be carrying out, Garven had decided on a slugthrower carbine firing specialized subsonic rounds - a primitive solution but one that would be unexpected in the modern age. The Senior Agent approached several weapons manufacturers, under the guise of seeking weaponry for a mercenary company, about the prospects of such a weapon, eventually deciding on the 10th Iteration of the design offered by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Incorporated (Hence the Mark 10 moniker).
The COC-10 is an integrally suppressed, rotating-bolt slugthrower, firing a subsonic round, meaning that both its muzzle report and flash are heavily muffled, and the bullet produces no loud crack or boom indicative of a supersonic projectile. When helping develop the round that the carbine would fire, Garven recognized that many of the militaries, law enforcement agencies, and rival intelligence agencies his men would go up against would have armor designed to defend against conventional slugs, and so he had two rounds developed, an armor-piercing depleted-baradium round, designed to generally go against all but the most protected of armors, and one using a small Plasticene-Thermite Gel charge designed to ignite on impact, burning at 500 degrees centigrade for several seconds.
Given the power of the rounds, and thus the recoil they produced, the COC-10 is designed to be fired solely as a semiautomatic weapon, similar to a marksman's carbine or many civilian slugthrowers. While this makes it far less useful for most battlefield use, where the majority of fire is designed to suppress the enemy while friendly forces are maneuvering, it proves an excellent tradeoff in the sort of precise, subdued situations that its intended wielders find themselves engaged in.

- Easy Breakdown/Dissassembly
- Armor Piercing Ammunition (Depleted Baradium Slugs)
- Incendiary Ammunition (Plasticene Thermite Gel Slugs)
- Quiet Killer: Firing sub-sonic slugs and equipped with a integral suppressor, the COC-10 is the perfect weapon for Covert (or "Black") Operations, eschewing the bright, easily-traced bolts and loud blasts of a blaster for nigh-untraceable slugs fired quietly through a suppressor.
- Show-Stopper: The COC-1 fires an armor-piercing slug containing depleted baradium, allowing it to penetrate modern armor while maintaining more than enough energy to ruin the day of the receiving soldier. Conversely, the Thermite Gel lacks the energetic punch but makes up for it with a small thermite charge rigged to ignite on impact. While it's far from enough to burn through a hull plating or the heaviest of armor, it can wreak havoc on unprepared troops.
- Limited Ammunition: Given the weight and size of the rounds and magazines, wielders of the COC-10 are limited in the amount of ammunition they can carry with them. While blaster users may be able to fire their weapons all day and still have gas left to spare, those wielding weapons like the COC-10 must be more selective with their targets.
- Expensive Ammunition: Baradium itself is dangerous to handle and expensive, and depleted baradium is even more expensive. Plasticene-Thermite Gel is expensive as well, being thousands of credits per kilogram. With the price on these rounds being several credits per round, it's even more important that rounds be used wisely and conservatively.
