- Modularity: No
- Production: Minor
- Material: Circuitry, Wiring, Plasteel Casing, Neodymium Magnets, Miniaturized power cells
- Classification: Anti-Personnel/Anti-Mech/Anti-Vehicle
- Size: Average
- Weight: Heavy
- Explosive Type: Individual “Bomblets”
- Delivery Method: Thrown/Rolled
- Effective Range: Average
- Area Of Effect: Average
- Damage Output: Very High
- Default 5-Second timed deployment upon button-press (May be adjusted)
- Deploys 8 equally-sized small “bomblets” which are magnetically attracted to one-another.
- Electrical Discharge occurs within a contained “web” - any individuals within the AOE suffer severe incapacitating pain and possible electrical burns. This is further compounded depending on the amount of “bomblets” present in the immediate vicinity.
- Upon discharge, individual bomblets are rendered inert and no longer a threat.
- Effective against clustered groups of foes, small mechs, and lightly-armored un-shielded vehicles.
- Enhanced damage against anything metallic & electrically conductive
- Doubly Effective in Water. Potentially Lethal.
- Less-lethal
- Inert Bomblets and expended case may become a slipping hazard.
- Chunky: Due to the amount of metal involved in individual construction, the “Apple” is abnormally heavy for a grenade. It may take some effort for a weaker individual (such as a teenager) to hurl the grenade a significant distance. Note: Rolling an apple may be more effective in this case.
- Non-conductive Materials may hamper or completely negate the electrical charge generated by the grenade.
- Potentially Lethal if deployed in water.
- Indiscriminate
Designed to fill particular requirements for a certain un-named, loosely united Resistance group, codename: “Shocking Apple” was conceptualized to defeat a common threat: Namely, armored CorpSec Riot Officers, common Mechs in-use by CAD, and Security Droids. The Shocking Apple is capable of providing a powerful AOE electrical shock to anything its 8 small bomblets come into contact with. Upon timer completion, the apple separates into three separate pieces and deploys its payload (Called the “core”).
Each small bomblet (or “shocker”) is equipped with a series of powerful neodymium magnets which are powerfully attracted to one-another. Upon activation, each bomblet links itself through an interconnected static charge which builds and fires - catching anything within its blast radius. The more bomblets present in the immediate area, the more effective the electrical charge; which is capable of disabling electronics, frying unshielded circuitry, and potentially eliminating groups of bunched-up personnel.
