Coincidences happen {Vengeance}

The night wasn't as dark as most would have been used to. Impossible under the pale light of three moons that reigned over the starry blackness of the sky. The same did not apply to that dark, narrow street where no light, nor sound, nor person entered. As though that exact part of the small, untidy and begrimed city was an obscure void. Yet there was a presence there, so silent and so hidden that her presence did not disturb the feeling of emptiness in the slightest. A small and slim figure sat seven meters above the ground with its feet hanging from the window of a very abandoned building. Every single part of its lithe body was covered in black. Boots, leggings, cloak and hood. The only thing that broke with the darkness where its very pale and thin hands that, if it weren't for their delicate appearance, would have better belonged to a long dead corpse.

The mysterious being stared, its keen eyes scourged through the landscape with a cold and empty stare. No one could properly tell if she was looking at nothing or staring at everything, every single detail. And even while paying so much attention, se was deep in though. "Why am I here?" Her own voice resonated inside her head as she questioned herself, "I can only wait and see" She answered her own question in her mind. She had simply had the desire of visiting the boring planet. There was nothing here that would fill her thirst for...something, anything. Yet, she knew that something would happen. She was sure of it, something always happened.

Vassek............it was just far away from the civilized Galaxy to give Vengeance some peace of mind. Just far away but not so far that he couldn't get a decent meal or a half way decent drink. He walked the outskirts of the city.......in the dirtier................darker part. He was at peace in the darkness. So at peace that he didn't even bother to keep his hood up to conceal his face. Yellowed eyes and a deathly pale complexion all signs of the effects of the dark side taking it's toll on him.

Vengeance even whistled as he walked his hands tucked into his sleeves. It wasn't a joyful tune on his mind but not exactly a depressing one either. It almost seemed like he was lost in his own thoughts and headed nowhere fast. Just enjoying the solitude until it was interrupted. Interrupted when he felt the presence of another a presence he didn't recognize.

He pulled his hood up over his head switching from a brief moment to using Force Sight. As he did he taunted.

"Come out come out where ever you are." "It will only hurt for a moment............I promise."

The white eyes that the hood hid went as wide as Vassek's moons when she felt the strong, corrupted presence of a Sith. She shifted her gaze momentarily, just for a second and caught a glimpse of the dark-sided force user. Syss recognized him immediately. She had forced herself to identify and remember the Sith, some of them she could even recognize the voices of. Though this was not the case, the Umbaran immediately knew she was in the presence of Darth [member="Vengeance"] after she saw him. She did not move, did not breathe until the male Sith gave a command.

The Umbaran then jumped, when she had fell about three meters she grabbed onto another window frame to diminish the impact of her final jump, after which she silently and skillfully reached the floor. She was standing some meters before Vengeance and proceeded to remove the dark hood covering her blonde-haired head, revealing herself. Her pale skin contrasted with the darkness of the alley, her face was expressionless and she did not look at the Sith straight to the eyes, instead keeping her white, translucent eyes on the darkness of the floor. "My lord..." Her sultry, young voice flowed in a respectful greeting.

Vengeance chuckled as [member="Syss Rembala"] dropped to the ground in front of him he closed the distance between the two of them in short measure no longer usign Force Sight but his own vision. His time on Dagobah made it so he did not have as much trouble seeing in the dark as most.

"Do I know you young one?" "I would imagine not.........considering anyone I have met before knows the two things I detest more than anything are titles and weakness."

He reached out roughly grabbing a hold of her chin and forced her head up so that her eyes met his.

"You look your prey in the eyes and you watch the life drain from them as you kill them."

He let go over her chin but beneath his hoods his eyes held hers as if to burn right through her soul.

"What is your name little one and why are you hiding out in abandoned buildings?"

The Umbaran Acolyte payed close attention to the human Sith's words. She remained standing in place as the man approached her, without making a move. She felt the disturbing sting of self-disgust when [member="Vengeance"] answered his own question, she felt it had been her obligation to know how to approach the Sith, and she had failed. This feeling was quickly processed and held captive within herself, not even the slightest sign of its existence every reaching the girl's expressions. She did not oppose any resistance as the Sith grabbed her by her chin and looked at her. She held his gaze, fascinated by the yellow eyes that indicated the strength of the man within the Dark Side. Once again, she remained expressionless but this time inside her cold, white eyes the flame of corruption danced as she relished in the dark aura that now dominated the alley. The Umbaran appeared to smirk ever so slightly with her gaze when he made an allusion to her being prey, what had amused her was the fact that she indeed was.

Upon release, she still held his gaze and she couldn't avoid but feel gladdened of being in the presence of total corruption. This time she held her head up, revealing a thin, slender neck as pale as her face. "I am called Syss Rembala" She answered, directly to the point and then proceeded to reply his second question, "Some of the most curious and important events occur when one does not do anything at all to provoke them" She offered as a response. It was a clever way of saying she was simply waiting for something to happen and indeed, it did. The poor and far planet of Vassek no longer seemed such a waste of her time.

Vengeance looked at [member="Syss Rembala"] clearly not impressed with her answer.

"You didn't answer my question Syss Rembala." "I asked why you are out here all alone in an abandoned building?"

He smirked an all to unpleasant insinuating smirk.

"There is nothing more satisfying than provoking...being the instrument of another's pain and suffering." "Only cowards and assassins sit in the shadows and wait for things to happen." "Which are you coward or assassin?"

He paused.

"Predator's stalk and manipulate...........they stand directly in front of their prey daring them to come meet death with their head held high."

Vengeance smiled the air around him began to crackle with energy a small ball of light formed in his left hand as he raised it to plant it directly on her chest the spark of lightening intended to shoot from his hand through her entire body.

"Did you come here to be prey Syss or to learn to be the predator?"

If it hit the spark would hurt like being hit with a truck but only have a very temporary effect if she was half as strong as those white eyes would lead you to believe.

The Umbaran listened closely to his words, a perspective she had never before considered. Her nature had always been unpredictable, hidden, she was used to working from the shadows and she was excellent at it. She was, as the Sith had described, an "assassin" and a very manipulative one. Yet, the idea of the stalking, incessant and daring predator had deeply fascinated her.

The next thing she felt was the air being filled with energy, she had been punished by lighting may times in her past life by the first mentor she ever had...her father. Syss did then something that most would have found at least slightly surprising. She stood in place, no intention of avoiding the spark of lighting. Expressionless and cold she braced herself. And when the spark hit, her white eyes flamed in orange for a second as the pain scourged through her body, making every single nerve ending explode in a type of agony only Force Lightning could produce. Yet all she did was close her eyes, no whines, no bearing of pain on her pale face, not even a grunt was emitted from the Acolyte and long seconds later the pain that she had processed inside her subsided and she opened her once again white eyes to look at the Sith. She couldn't help but smirk ever so slightly, she felt proud of herself and contented with having seen once more the so renowned power of the Sith, a power she still did not possess.

"I came to learn..." She answered, her voice strong yet alluring.

Vengeance smiled at the reaction [member="Syss Rembala"] made when the spark hit her. He reached out grabbing her neck his fingers curling around her neck his thumb just under her jawline. He didn't squeeze though he just left it there."

"Good you are fearless in the face of danger." "That is one less thing I will have to teach you." "However it is time to go." "What I was looking for is not on this planet and for reasons I will explain on the ship I never stay in one place for long."

He let go of her and moved around her walking further down the alley.

"Come on we have a lot to do."

Vengeance would not speak again and not even look back to see if she was following until they reached his ship. It had been awhile since he had taken on an Apprentice, not since Vaulkhar. In the end as much as he had like the man.....thought of him as a son......when it mattered he had not proven up to the task. This one though....this Syss......can him hope if such a thing was even possible. Sure she had displayed fearlessness but could she be ruthless as well. Would she stick to the goal even if it meant dying in the process. That remained to be seen.

She never flickered her gaze from the Sith as he grabbed her by the neck, her thin and small neck that could have easily been broken by strong hands. It was such a strange type of fascination the one she felt in the presence of the true Sith, the completely corrupted force users. She did not have memory of a single day in her life when fanaticism for the dark side was not influenced in her. And she had taken to it so well, so soon.

That type of fervor, of passion that burned deep inside her could only be compared with the power of one emotion: love. And yet it was so different from love. Not even Syss, with her smart tongue and potent mind could describe the feeling and she had already grown obsessed with it. She sought the dark-side, needed it. She was so accustomed to drawing on the raw power of her carefully cultivated and deeply buried emotions that if deprived from it she would surely wither into some sort of emaciated and delusional state.

And now she had in front of her the being who could lead her to the full embracing of her passion, she had a Master. The Umbaran Acolyte did not speak after [member="Vengeance"] . She did not have anything important to say and would rather kill herself than keep her master waiting. She quietly and quickly tagged along him like a little puppy behind its owner.

The trip to the ship would take around an hour with Vengeance having set down as far away from people as he could without attracting too much attention. Once they got to the ship Vengeance would stop at the bottom of the ramp and turn to look at [member="Syss Rembala"] with a nod.

"Good."

It was all he said before going on up the ramp and shouting towards the cockpit.

"Get us out of here.........random vector........you know the drill."

He moved deeper into the ship getting into the largely empty cargo bay before he turned back expecting Syss to be right behind him.

"Now while we are prepping to depart time to get a little background." "Time for a history lesson............your history." "I will settle for the short version but mostly I need to know current and prior affiliations and any current or previous Masters."

Vengeance leaned against the wall his arms crossed as he looked and waited for her to answer.

The pale skinned Acolyte followed obediently and wouldn't have objected to more hours of walking if her master had required it that way. Still, after an hour of walking they had already arrived to the Sith's vessel and boarded.

Once inside the spaceship, the Umbaran followed [member="Vengeance"] to the cargo bay and remain standing some meters away from him. She once again devoid of any expression in particular, simply observing and still. Waiting.

"I was born and raised in Umbara by my father, who was my first and only mentor before yourself." She answered, "I have only been affiliated with the One Sith after my father's....tragic death" A wicked and small smile was plastered on her face for a fraction of a second. Just as her Master had required, she limited her answer to the information the Sith had asked for and its major details.

Of course, she was willing and ready to answer any other questions.

Vengeance nodded to [member="Syss Rembala"] seemingly like he was expecting at least one of the answers he got.

"Tell me about him and his tragic death."

He paused for a moment before he continued.

"Who do you know in the One Sith and when is the last time you have had contact with anyone in the One Sith?"

They were very pointed questions that had very little impact in terms of what the answer was. He just wanted to know more how she would answer more than what the actual answer was. Vengeance himself knew a bunch of people in the One Sith but he had not spoken to any of them in awhile.

"My father was self-taught Dark-side Force user who followed the codes and creed of the Sith. After some time he no longer had nothing to teach and was holding me down. I killed him and joined the One Sith." She explained, her voice was calm and fresh as though she had just narrated an every day occurrence.

"I must admit I did not remain for long in the Faction" The Umbaran informed, "I partook in some dominions and left before being assigned a Master" She said.

The reason she had left the One Sith was simple, they were not seeking the path she desired and she had decided to search in other places. After all, there was no one there that possessed her loyalty. She wouldn't gain what she wanted in the One Sith.

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance listened and nodded.

"Explain?" "You mean self taught as in never had a master himself?" "What did he teach you specifically." "You killed him how?"

He paused looking her over for a minute before he continued.

"What planets did you fight on and who did you fight along side."

He held up a hand not giving her a chance to answer just yet.

"And know what you tell me can very easily be verified as true or not."

[member="Syss Rembala"]

Syss understood the hand gesture and awaited for the Sith to finish his questions before starting to offer her answers.

"He never had a master himself. He only had knowledge of the ways of the Sith through scripts and the right acquaintances. He focused on making me a potential apprentice and expanding my innate abilities, as he would call them. He showed me the greatness I am yet to discover of the Dark-side."

"The time came when I had nothing left to learn from him and he was reluctant to let me find my own path into the Dark side" She narrated, remembering the day clearly,

"I gave him the chance of saving his life by fighting and killing me instead of murdering him in his sleep. He was weak and now he is dead." She finished. Killing her father was something she did not regret.

"I was present in the battles on Neimodia, Khomm and Ecplise. I fought along Melori Raaf, better known today as Darth Timoris, when she was still an Acolyte. Our paths have not met again ever since I left the One Sith" She replied. She remembered many other Sith that were present in the dominions: Darth Venefica, Reverance, Darth Adekos...still the only one that was indeed relevant in the actions she perpetrated had been Darth Timoris.

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance listened processing what [member="Syss Rembala"] said and the implications of it all. At least he did until she mentioned the only name in the entire galaxy that could provoke an emotional response of a nearly uncontrollable nature.

His eyes flashed a shade of red hotter than the Mustafar landscape. The air around him crackled with energy as he clenched his fists barely able to contain the furry that name provoked. After a minute that seemed to last an hour Vengeance closed his eyes and took a deep breath. When he opened them they would back to their normal yellow. It was another moment before he spoke.

"Darth Timoris has not been in the One Sith in quite a while." "Not since Darth Venefica declared war on the other Lords and got her entire power base exiled."

He paused.

"Not having a Master is not a new thing." "I have never had a Master...........but I have learned from several Masters." "Sith and Jedi a like."

He looked at her curiously for a moment.

"Well since I know a bit about you I guess you should know a bit about me." "My father was murdered in our home when I was 12." "I was imprisoned for killing two of them before being discovered as Force sensitive and sent to the Sith for training." "My first battle was on Glee Anselm along side the future Darth Pyrrhus." "After which I met Darth Venefica, and Melori Raaf on a crystal hunt to Dagobah before returning to Glee Anselm a second time to secure One Sith authority there."

"I have fought on Csilla, Mindaball, Mayferria, Taloraan, Belagroth, Obredaan, Ziost, Ord Mirit, and Contruum."

Vengeance paused pulling a Terentatek claw on it's chain around is neck.

"Darth Timoris and I killed this on Prakith not long after she was exiled." "It was not long after Contruum that I left the One Sith myself." "Since then I have mostly been hanging out on Dagobah getting stronger."

He snorted.

"I hope you don't mind never going back to the One Sith." "They are not worth my time and effort and I don't intend on going back."

Her very pale hands were elegantly and naturally located in front of her, one slightly holding the other as her eyes, ears and every single focus of attention she possessed were occupied by the words of the male Sith. The Umbaran had a talent to read others, their emotions and thoughts. She had a keen eye for subtleties and details. Yet, that talent was not needed since the ire that ran through [member="Vengeance"] system upon the mentioning of the other Sith Lord was more than evident.

Syss remained silent and cold, showing no perceivable reaction but of course, curiosity took a firm grip on the back of her head. In just a few seconds thousands of different ways to find out what tied Darth Vengeance to Darth Timoris came to mind, and left just as quickly. She wouldn't, she was not going to pry on the past this time.

Soon after, Vengeance gave a little bit more of information regarding his previous interactions with Darth Timoris and other Sith. Information she quickly processed and stored in the impressively complete, tidy and powerful machine she called her memory. The white eyes of the Umbaran flickered for a second with admiration when she saw what she immediately recognized to be a Terentatek claw.

Her deep scrutiny of the claw ceased when the Sith spoke his final words,

"Then I shall not return to the One Sith never again. Nor do I wish to do so." She added that last sentence after a very short pause, a slight smirk stretching her blood red lips after.

Vengeance shrugged at [member="Syss Rembala"] with a smirk.

"I supposed it would be a good idea to see what you know already."

His smirk widened as he moved from his spot over to a cabinet and removing two training swords. He tossed one to her.

"Now the ability to use the Force is commonly thought to be the most important aspect of our lives." "This is a dangerous misconception if you have ever found yourself in a place where the force is not an option." "There are ways to temporarily sever a Force connection..........and believe me when I say our enemies know it and use it."

He raised the training sword up in a salute.

"At that time all you will have is the ability to use this to cheat death and defeat your enemy." "The rules are simple..........stay conscious."

Vengeance smiled his wrist rotating swing the sword in a vertical circle his feet sliding in a ready stance waiting for Syss to make the first move.

The Umbaran followed the human male, an obedient shadow behind his back. Once the Lord Sith had procured two training swords from the cabinet and tossed one at her, the Umbaran simply rose her left had and caught is skillfully, her hand quickly growing accustomed and adjusted to the weight and forms of the blade.

Her attention rose, if this was even possible, at the mentioning of ways to severe a Force connection, at least temporarily. She had only heard but rumors about this. Though, she did know that this was indeed possible and even if she had ever have doubted it, the Sith had just confirmed it to her. Sadly, what she knew about this was nothing but information from untrustworthy sources.

And even if she had known with further and more reliable detail the aspects of this power, this was a very different....lesson.

Syss moved into a combat stance elegantly and effortlessly as soon as the Sith did. Actually, her getting in position had almost synchronized to the ones of the Sith and the answer to this was simple: She had prepared for a possible first move on behalf of Lord [member="Vengeance"] . Yet, this move was not perpetrated and, surprisingly, she would not loose the chance she was offered.

Swiftly, displaying a speed not very often seen, the Umbaran lunged forward, a jabbing attack launched ferociously but precisely at the Sith. She kept her lite body at a correct distance from her blade and in a position that would most surely enable her evasion, at least in most cases. But there was more to Syss attack that met the eye, she was already trying to predict what movement which followed would result more beneficial.

Truth was, she knew the stakes of winning couldn't have been further away from her side. This did not mean she would let herself look like a weakling piece of disgrace and a waste of time.

Vengeance's eyes narrowed as [member="Syss Rembala"] lunged forward. Side stepping he rotated his wrist slapping the lunge away with his blade. He would spin around her tuck his body in tight until the tail end of the spin. Vengeance swung hard and fast aiming to catch Syss in the small of her back with the flat edge of the blade. He would follow up kicking out his left foot attempting to catch the back of her knee and force her to her knees. If successful Vengeance would follow it up with his sword handing punch aimed at her temple before taking a step back and resetting his stance.

It was a vicious counter attempt to her jab but after all the goal was to win and the only way to win was knocking her out.
