OVERVIEW //: Carlac

A frozen, desolate world which has been caught on the fringes of the border between the New Imperial Order and the Sith Empire. Located strategically near to the Braxant Run leading into Sith-Imperial territory, Carlac is next on the New Imperial Order’s sights for subjugation.

As these things come, it will not be any seamless integration however.

9lJMKfJ.png

OBJECTIVE I //: The Cold

As the New Imperial Order continues its outward expansion, the consistent subjugation of the worlds within its control have seemed to driven unaligned mercenaries and privateers away from its borders. Though this does not save the New Imperials from excursions from its prime adversary in the Sith Empire. Intel reports show traces of the Sith-Imperial funded group ‘Children of The New Order’ (A name semi-ironic when operating against the NEW Imperial ORDER but what can you do.) is operating a cell and terrorizing the locals with threats of force if they don’t collaborate.

Local guides also report warriors clad in Beskar’gam among them, meaning this cell may very well be supplemented by Sith aligned Death Watch operatives. With the bulk of the New Imperial resources on the planet dedicated to the threat of the vong, skilled operatives will need to find the Children’s compound and eradicate the terrorists. Do be alarmed that if Death Watch are among them they are highly trained and well equipped to take on the most elite foes by Mandalorian custom.

RZyRgMo.png

OBJECTIVE II //: The Ugly

Lying in wait, a host of the Yuuzhon Vong controlled by Dione Dione has used the world’s abrasive nature as a means to shroud its growth. Sapping swathes of the environment and several Ming-Po villages of life to construct its dreaded host.

By land atop the infested ruins of a Ming Po settlement and space in low orbit, purge the world of the Vong infestation though do remember, they can not be detected by the force and are very difficult to fight with conventional weapons. It will take great force, ferocity and sheer will to bring an end to this threat and progress NIO’s march toward greater threats. We can only hope this will be our first and only encounter with them.

Carlac a world unique in its own right. A world that despite the snowy terrain could still produce some of the most magnificent sights in the galaxy. Surrounding Ming Po village there were trees that sprang blossoms the color of love. They brought an aura of peace, of civility. Children use to run through the snow playing beneath the trees, carefree. Neighbors cared for one another as though they’d been family. Now none of that remained.

What had once been Ming Po village was nothing more than sundered buildings. Trees that had once been fraught with life stand withered away. No longer did children frolic, instead there were odd humanoid creatures that crawled and limped through the streets. Odd bony protrusions penetrated the surface of their flesh making the mutated creatures appear sickening. These were the people of Ming Po village. Those who’d been unlucky enough to be left alive in the attack.

The pained and unintelligible groans of the denizens created a chorus. A song of true beauty. Standing atop a plateau and looking upon his people's work Dione couldn’t resist the urge to smile. Stained teeth filled the maw of the Yuuzhan Vong as he let loose a laugh. This would only be the beginning, Carlac was only one of many planets that they’d begun to use as nests.

Spread through the village were polyps of various sizes. Some small bearing golden fruit, others far larger growing what appeared to be giant pieces of coral. The final ones were too large to be kept on the surface, deep furrows within the earth held the grandest designs of all. Enormous vessels being formed beneath the planet's crust.

Lost in his own thoughts, Dione almost didn’t notice the sound of heavy footsteps behind him as Yogrik, a member of the warrior caste approached. “Our scouts report the arrival of others.” The warrior hissed looking to the sky and beyond.

“Let them come and see the fate that awaits them. For decades, no millennia our kind have been abused. Used as servants for Sith, as followers of Jedi, and used to create what was once lost in this galaxy. This galaxy is ours by right! None shall steal it from us again.”

Turning on his heel Dione eyed Yogrik. “Take care of things here, I’ll handle those above.”

The Vong. Though they might've gone about meticulously rebuilding the galaxy from the shattered remains they left by the Galactic Alliance following their rampaging through the Galaxy, many sects of the extra-galactic species roamed marauders. With the meteoric rise of Darth Alekto within the Sith Empire and her influence in using Vong Tech through out the Empire, many Yuuzhon Vong have taken up arms against the New Imperial Order.

Carlac being the latest venue of their marauding. Leading at the tip of the spear of a quickly parcelled together task force, Wymar lurches into the fray again. Already weakened physically from his exposure to the Twilight by Kascalion Giedfield Kascalion Giedfield , the Knight Commander fights a struggling battle as he's innately unable to rely on the force against this foe. Merely by martial ability alone, already dampened by his strained physique he marches forward.

His silver blade impales through the chest of one of the Vong warriors, the cold gaze of the Knight Commander beneath his heavy steel visage the last thing the alien sees before his life is snuffed out. Continuing his crusade, Rurik presses further into the village. The larger structures beneath the surface being him his primary objective to end this malfeasance once and for all but until then there was a great deal of them to hack through.

He would rip and tear until it was done.

Argos walked up to the bridge of the YV-666 Desert Night. His twin siblings, Yearda and Oredis, were sitting in the pilot's seat, running the ship and checking the subsystems to ensure everything was good. As the ships slide through the atmosphere, Yearda looked back at her older brother while her twin focused on flying.

"Are you sure about this, Argos?" Her voice had a typical Lervonian lack of emotion, but Argos naturally understood the worry that flowed through the Force. "Seems like we're flying right into a battle." Argos patted her shoulder and getting ready to walk down to get ready for this.

"I'll be ok. Just stay with the ship, ok you two?" Oredis just turned, chuckling as he looked at his brother.

"I mean, she'll probably keep me put anyway." Yearda just closed her eyes and shook her head as Argos walked off, and the pair went to landing the large freighter. Argos quickly grabbed his modified blaster, one that lacked a lot of traditional design. He let it absorb into his arm before leaving the ship. It was time to hunt.

IN VICINITY: Rurik Fel Rurik Fel | Dione Dione
FORCES:
19th Assault Company
TROOP STATUS: (200/200)

The footsteps of the company could be heard from hundreds of meters away.
FN-999's 19th Assault Company had been sent out for its first recorded mission - the destruction of a Yuuzhon Vong task force. The trooper knew that the Vong had once almost succeeded in conquering the entire galaxy, overwhelming the Galactic Alliance's predecessors with incredible firepower and numbers. Even now, centuries later, the Vong species still existed in the galaxy in small, isolated pockets. As it seemed, one of these pockets was disrupting the peace on Carlac. Consequently, the 19th had been sent in to pound the Vong into submission. Even though the Yuuzhan Vong were skilled and ruthless combatants, they would surely fall under the weight of the chainguns of the 19th.

"Status report!" called out FN-999 to his command staff behind him, the captain walking directly in front of his company.

"All weapons are armed and loaded!"
"All soldiers are at full strength!"
"We have a secure comm link to the other New Imperial operatives on the planet."
"Our flanks are secure!"
"We'll be in firing range once we crest this hill!"

"Understood, continue as planned." replied the captain, a blanket response covering every statement his command staff had made.

For the past ten minutes, the company had been ascending a gently sloping hill that overlooked the village where the Vong were supposedly headquartered. When they ran into a vast wall of decayed trees, the company had gone silent. But since then, they had seen enough decay to no longer recoil in shock when a dead animal ended up in front of them. What mattered was that the company was still in peak condition, sifting through the dead to end the decay spreading across the planet. As the company crested the hill, they finally got their opportunity.

Cradled in a valley in front of and below the hill was a ruined village, surrounded by death and the putrid odor of tainted flesh. Worse yet were the indescribable lumps that filled the ground around and in the village. Some were small and gold, but others consisted of large solid objects that were larger than the entire 19th Assault Company put together. It seemed as if the Yuuzhan Vong were growing something grotesque within the ground, something that would need to be destroyed. As FN-999 and the company watched one of the solid clumps of organic material swell, they made a decision.

"Charge!" yelled FN-999, swallowing all his fear as he ran down the hill into the village, chaingun in his hands, followed by the two hundred troopers under his command.

There were scarier things in the galaxy than a simple remnant of the once mighty Yuuzhan Vong. Creatures of unimaginable size and proportions, force users with abilities capable of tricking non-sensitives into worship, and the never-ending cycle of warfare which gripped the galaxy by the stones, to name a few. Short of outright deleting the galaxy itself, there was no escaping his newfound reality; the life of a warrior, slowly being bred through countless contributions to a war effort which seemed ever-so-distant in spite of the victories being brought. Serenno seemed so distant from the world of Carlac, and Bastion no longer felt like a step forwards to the liberaiton that he'd pledged to accomplish. It felt like forever since he'd been some leather-jacket wearing kid, jumping into battles alongside stormtroopers on a mission to prove something to the world. Luc had wanted to show the world that he wasn't just some punk kid running away from the hard choices in life. Now he didn't feel the need to prove nothing to anyone, for that matter.

That's not to say that he accomplished so much that he sat at some pinnacle of achievement, though. He had a long way to go before that notion would ever be accepted by those around him. Instead he just quit caring about the opinions of others on himself and what he's done, instead focusing on what's right in front of him instead.

Always forwards, never backwards.

That was the motto he'd lived by ever since his entry into the New Imperial Order. He'd said those words so much that it'd become a common saying within his legion, eventually being adopted by the Myrmidons as a motto of their own. It kept his eyes forwards, constantly focusing on what was immediately achievable, always aiming for progression of some kind within himself. Each baby step forwards brought him closer to the point where his goals seemed attainable- even the outlandish ones, such as the reclamation of a homeworld so deep into enemy territory. From he outside looking in, it was a beautiful phrase, yet it was technically incomplete. Luc kept the original phrase to himself once the Legion ran with it, and it seemed as if the closer he'd gotten to achieving his goals, the more the original one made sense to him.

Sometimes you've gotta go backwards, if you want to go forwards.

-

A handful of The Myrmidons were accompanying Luc onto the surface of Carlac, leaving the rest of his Legion within the confines of the NIV Myrmidon and its support vessels in orbit of the world. He'd gone back to his roots, dressing down in the typical spacer gear he wore daily in place of the ICONIC Imperial Jedi Armor that had carried him to victory against the Sith. It was a welcomed change of pace, the flexibility and feeling it offered in battle was something he'd missed, and Luc couldn't deny the stylistic appeal it gave him over the uniform soldiers of the Imperial military. It was a moot point to make in the wake of a pitched fight against the Vong, but any man of high culture would understand that aesthetics were everything in life.

The small-scale conflict against the Vong threat on Carlac had begun in earnest after the TF's vanguard, under the command of Rurik Wymar, made their opening move against the stronghold of their extragalactic enemies. It was an odd feeling not being there with them, but Luc had come to trust the ability of the Order's finest warriors to handle their business when necessary. Instead he would be following up from the rear, no more than a platoon of his Myrmidons accompanying their commander, contributing far less numerically than the other Legions involved. It was a paltry sum at face value, but Luc had no need to waste the precious lives of his men on a threat which wasn't the Sith. The other Legions, far greater in number, were built for these sorts of engagements. And besides- all he needed was forty men. No more, no less. Except for one, that is.

A pair of HAAT's would descend upon the outskirts of the occupied Ming Po village. Plenty of enemy warriors were present for the battle-hardened veterans of the Myrmidons to engage, even with the task force having moved in to engage already. Landing gracefully behind the advancing Imperial lines, the blast doors on either side of the heavy transports would swing open, allowing its occupants to funnel out onto the battlefield to join in the fray. The platoon commander went about commanding the men into action, and the rising HAAT's let out an increasing crescendo of composite beam and laser fire that whined loudly over their heads as they slammed their weapons into the Vong warriors on the other side of the village.

Tossing his gaze away from his men, Luc would glance over at Vella Forte Vella Forte , a woman from outside the echelons of the greater Imperial military who'd been sent to assist him during their "spring-cleaning" operation against the Vong. While the Myrmidons moved forwards to form a firing line ahead of their landing zone, Luc would casually cross his arms over his chest, standing back and observing the battle without fully committing himself or his men ahead. Having never fought their warriors before, a part of him was eager to see if the legends of their kind were true, but patience would win out the day for the time being. He was much more interested in seeing what his newfound ally would do, or specifically, what she would do. She was his ally, after all, even if he had his doubts as to who she really was.

C:\\Vallaro\\Location\\> vicinity of OBJ 1
C:\\Vallaro\\Objective\\> hunt bounties

Vallaro had lost count of how many timed he’d relied on the stealth capabilities of his ship to infiltrate and active conflict. This time was no different. While war raged and the price on NIO heads was a bounty just waiting to be claimed. Coupled with a handsome retainer fee paid to him by Lord Venari, there was no more lucrative place for him in the galaxy right now than at the NIO’s doorstep. Tapping the ship's intercom he addressed Zivos, his Ubese ally for this hunt.

“We’re coming in now, I don’t know exactly where they're stationed but We’ll land damn close so get ready. Once we’re out of the ship the clock starts ticking. This baby can only stay hidden for so long before she’ll stop to keep enough fuel for us to leave.”

As no more than a blip on the radar, the hunter made his way towards the coordinates he’d been provided. While not officially on the payroll, he had enough pull within the Empire to receive a vague set of coordinates that would hopefully lead him towards a Death Watch cell. Optic camouflage worked overtime to blend in with the snow and changing lights. As much as he wanted to turn his Com Jammers on, he needed to conserve fuel as much as possible. Getting off planet was something the duo would probably need to do quietly and without aid.

Snow crunched underneath as he landed. Sensor arrays scanned the area for life but registered nothing. Vallaro shook his head. Of course there were no life signs, Death Watch wasn’t a corps of fools. The hunter stood from his seat and began donning his cold-weather gear and adjusting his armaments. A thermal flak jacket covered most of his body. While the protection was negligible, the warmth was undeniable and, in this place, even the cold could kill.

A pneumatic hiss competed with howling wind as the cargo bay door dropped down. Icey air licked at the hunter’s face.

“This is gonna suck” he murmured. Looking into the distance he engaged his ocular implants, magnification, and thermal in tandem revealing what would normally lay invisible in this landscape.

“Out about a half click, I see heat sigs. If we’re lucky it’s Death Watch, if not it’s the Vong.” Snow crunched underfoot as Vallaro made his way out into the snowy waste. If he could meet up with death watch the rest of the hunt would be cake. If not, it would be business as usual.

After the unfortunate circumstances that lead to the destruction of his YT-1760 during the Eternal Empire's invasion of the Sith Empire's space near Bastion the enterprising courier had to make some budgetary readjustments "Meesa go-" Ru picked up his datapad, and stopped the alert message from continuing, that was in a small holder to his left "Nice!" it was a simple, two system, operation that was paying a good chunk of money to go somewhere fast. Putting a hand on the flight controls he set a course for Nellogant.

The diminutive G-Class entered hyperspace and reemerged near the pick-up location "Comet's Delivery Service, here to pick up a package." he said over the open channel hoping to catch whatever mysterious client had him all the way out here near a desolate, uninhabited, planet. His new ship was small, extremely small, but it was customized! A pure white paint job with CDS across both sides of the fuselage in bright orange Aurebesh, a simple comet design underscoring the letters. Meanwhile, inside the shuttle, Ru looked through his lowered visor to the Agrippa The Hutt Agrippa The Hutt bobble head he had salvaged from the wreck and gave it a prod. The happy Hutt's head bobbled excitedly. Beneath the base of the memento was a picture of Julius Loghain Julius Loghain , a bombastic Senator, on which a green marker had scrawled Dragon Energy. A fresh collectible sat on the cramped dash of the shuttle, a pristine Aerarii Tithe Aerarii Tithe figurine shooting double finger guns at the observer. Inscribed along the red base there were the words Money finds a way.

"Uhhh..." he said at the silence peering around and seeing no ships "Ruusaar, hailing Ruusaar this is Comet's Delivery Service here to pick up a package." he thought it couldn't hurt to do a little advertising while he was on open frequencies "CDS... wholesome, reliable, cheap!" he leaned away from the glass and winked an orange cybernetic eye at his new collectible while shooting a finger gun at it "Money finds a way." All advertising was good advertising.

As the G-class Shuttle exited hyperspace a duo of ARC-170r Starfighters sped towards it. Normally this would signal the end of such a small craft. However, the starfighters did not fire upon Ru's vessel, instead they answered his hails through the same frequency as he had been broadcasting in, " Courier, your arrival is expected. We will escort you. Deactivate all weapon systems and engage sublight engines." The fighters formed up on both sides of the Shuttle as they escorted the courier around the opposite side of the planet.

There the large heavy cruiser that had scrambled the starfighters slowly orbited the clouded planet of Nellogant. The escorting fighters hailed the Ruusaar and in response the Ruusaar opened the near facing hangar doors to accept the shuttle. Meanwhile the escorts split off of Ru's shuttle and out of sight; perhaps to a different hangar.

Inside Ru's would be approached by three Mandalorian warriors in full kit, they too walked in formation. The lead warrior offered palm-sized durasteel box with magnetic latches on the top, which seemed to allow whatever was in the box to activate. "Here it is. Press this button here to deploy the package. When you're done just close the top, it'll lock itself back up. Don't lose it." He then offered Ru the sum of three hundred and ninety-three credits. "Now off you go, Courier."

The moment Ru Comet Ru Comet 's shuttle departed the hangar the two fighters that had escorted him towards the cruiser rejoined him on the flanks, showing him the way out. "Cleared for jump."

The whole escort and loading cycle was rather speedy. Ru couldn't help but feel a bit of admiration for their sense of urgency, he was a fan of speed himself "Will do! Don't lose the box." he assured the Mandalorian who offered im the package which he held carefully "Thanks." he put out a hand and took the credits then stepped into the small starship's interior. As the cockpit closed he gave a two finger salute to the Mandalorians.

When he was given the all-clear to jump by his escorts he replied to the starfighter pilots "See ya. Jumping." he engaged the hyperspace engine and real space bent around him. The vision of the stars blurred until he was in the blue hued tunnel. The trip was extremely short given they were so close together and before he knew it, he was in the high orbit of Carlac. When he arrived he saw the New Imperial Order's naval presence and he activated his navigational beacon which reported his location to all that would receive such beacons (similar to a distress beacon) ///COMET'S_DELIVERY_SERVICE///.

As the large sub-light engines carried the small craft quickly towards the ships he hailed them "Comet's Delivery Service, G-Class Shuttle, nice paint job - here on behalf of clients to delivery a package. I have instructions to give it, personally, to the highest ranking officer aboard the Dissident Aggressor." he looked over his shoulder to the backseat where he had buckled the package in. It didn't look like a bomb, and he really hoped it wasn't "Requesting permission to land in a hangar." he really, really didn't want to get turned away from this so he tried to be on his best behavior. He had already been paid so all he could lose out on was his reputation. Even as little rep as he had he wanted to keep it clear.

Zivos checked his gear again, testing seals, power cells, weapons, and preparing to jump headlong into the chit storm they were running headlong into. The ubese wasn't against making credits where he could, and the distraction of battle was likely no better a place to make some. The comm line opened, listening before chiming back in basic.

"Loud and clear." Was the affirmative he gave. Vallero had a good ship for this, his own ship a poor choice in regards to the general lack of anything either stealth or aesthetic. It did its job though, and in the end that is all that mattered to the ubese hunter.

He set his inner suits thermal regulator to automatic, his heat signature diminishing quickly in the snowy environment they dropped in as he activated the scanners in his helmet and found the same signatures Vallero found. The enviro suit hunter could not stop the chuff at his comment of the job not being enjoyable.

"Least you can breath. Try to keep...frosty." he did not spare the man the slight jab, another chuff as the pair set off, blaster rifle slung in his arms. His optics were set back to standard vision for the time being.

<"Understood 'Comet', permission granted. Land in auxiliary bay A-6">
The control of the Dissident Aggressor sounded out to Ru Comet to relay his permission to land within the flagship of the New Imperial Order. Peering down over the frigid surface of Carlac through the segmented viewport of the ship's command bridge Irveric stood in idle contemplation. He knew well of the battle that took beneath with those extra-Galactic parasites. The Yuuzhon Vong. They might've undid the wrongs they had imposed on the Galaxy generations before but even still they'd come back in force to put Carlac to the torch and sap it of life to add to its own disgusting host.

Staring through the glasteel with his lone weary gaze he turned at the sound of the door sliding open with a metallic hiss to reveal the delivery man himself. Ru Comet Ru Comet , a figure of a truly legendary reputation among the commerce circles as one of the most reliable couriers in the Galaxy. A man of true and potent dragon energy. Nodding once, he awaited the package supposedly meant for him. He could only guess the nature of it, being a seemingly insignificant parcel.

Once Ru had been allowed to land in the hangar and been escorted to the bridge he put the bare metal box with magnetic latches on the table near Irveric Tavlar Irveric Tavlar "Special delivery for the highest ranking official in the blockade, New Imperial Order." he was hoping that was the guy before him. He didn't have knowledge of any of the leadership, at least not anything he didn't see from holocasts, of the New Imperial Order "Prepaid delivery courtesy of a few interesting guys." Despite his general ignorance of this particular leader he was starting to get the sense that this probably the highest ranking official in the sector let alone the blockade due to the sheer size of the massive starship. Following his instructions as given by his client he pressed the button located on the container.

The magnetic latches sprung open and a holoprojector turned on with flickering blue light, circling in a cone, on standby for whatever mystery message he was delivering. Ru gave a nod of approval "Nice." he had an appreciation for cool little doodads like these. He glanced over to Tavlar then backed away from the package "Sorry, I was asked to return the package once you're done with it soooo." he half pointed and gestured towards an corner of the bridge "I'll be right over here." he awkwardly shuffled off and did a series of poses as he tried to find the most reverent one he could manage.

As Argos continued to walk out, he began to pick up on something. Sounded like other Hunters had decided to take a chance on this. He soon activated the internally held comm, speaking and listening with just the crystals next to the device, using a Guild channel.

"This is Argos. I hope I'm not interrupting something." The Lervon continued to sneak around, looking for any bounty targets and now being sure he wasn't interfering with another hunt. He didn't want to get a reputation as a hunt saboteur after all.

As the encrypted holoprojector activated, lighting up a large cone in the stereotypical blue light, a rather plain though rugged throne laid empty. Near the top of the projection the bottom of a banner could be seen peeking through, though the rest of the banner remained a mystery. A voice in the distance could be heard, perhaps behind the holorecording device. Soon there were loud clanks of metal on metal as a broad figure in ornate Mandalorian armor came into view. He pushed aside an off-set fur cape that shown through the projection as bright white. As he took his seat the holorecorder lifted, likely driven by micro repulsors, so that only the upper half of the Mandalorian was projected.

"I see that the courier was worth his payment." The rumbling voice came through the projected helmet, perhaps a bit more static ridden than normal due to the range of the projection. " I am Valdus Bral, Alor of the Bral clan. I have heard stories of your battles against The Sith Empire, Imperator, and congratulate you on the expansion of your empire. I wish to discuss the status of a planet within your domain: Nellogant." Valdus waited for a response and internally braced for either a plethora of titles, as that seemed to be common these days, or outright demands. His dealings with past monarchs and emperors had much to be desired, but his situation dictated interaction.

"Very well."
Irveric said to Ru Comet Ru Comet when he remarked that he'd have to stay to pick up the package. While not standard protocol, it wasn't anything that drew out any alarm from the Sovereign Imperator. Granted he never tread with fear in his heart, a holoprojector would not be anything that could even conceal a despicable purpose.

The holoprojector flipped on and the image of Valdus Bral came into view, the Mandalorian warlord and Alor of Clan Bral. Irveric peered over the man with a narrowed eye, warriors both only one donned the battle rainment of his creed while Irveric Tavlar donned the formal military uniform of the New Imperial Order, his rank distinguished on the duraplast chestplate by two bars of six in silver. The Sovereign Imperator. This was the highest rank of command within the New Imperial Order. With a jagged beskar 'horn' protruding from his skull and an eyepatch concealing half of his visage amidst fresh blaster burns, shrapnel scars and worn lacerations he was clearly not one who'd concealed himself from battle even now.

"Likewise, Alor. The New Imperial Order was keenly aware of your rule over Nellogant though we did not find addressing too high of a priority within the war effort against the Sith Empire, as you might expect." Irveric stated candidly to the Mandalorian.

"So now I assume, you wish to be officially brought into the fold?" He certainly wouldn't be the first of the UCM or Mandalorian Imperial remnants to try and vie for the New Imperial favor.

Outwardly Valdus seemed as a statue, unmoving and regal, though behind his helmet his eyes wandered the projection of the Sovereign Imperator. First meetings were important to Valdus, though that was hardly unique to him alone. So the Imperator was at least bearable, he did not speak in haughty tones or in condescention towards Valdus.

Raising his right hand, the robotic prosethetic facing upwards in a somewhat welcoming gesture as he spoke, "I see your information networks are indeed formiddable, Imperator. They may have also known that it was I that lead the defense against the betrayers of my people on Mandalore, the Sith Empire. Without much notice we were able to shatter the spear of the aruetii at Sundarii, though at great cost. What I offer you is my allegiance and with that stalwart machines of war, resolute warriors who only fear dishonor before their kin, a fleet, and some rare material resources that we extract from our mines." His hand lowered back to the arm rest of his throne.

"In exchange... Nellogant remains under the control and leadership of the Alor of Bral, their word, my word, is second only to the Sovereign Imperator's while on Nellogant and around its orbit. The Alor of Bral will have whatever title and organizational authority abroad that befits a planetary lord within your Order. Additionally, the aid of the New Imperial Order will be brought to bear in case of military conflict on Nellogant or the neighboring Phaeda from foreign or domestic sources, just as the clan will heed the call of the Imperator to take up arms against their adversaries. What say you, Imperator?" Valdus waited then for a response.

His hidden eyes scanning the projected Imperator, attempting to glean any information he could from the man's body language in addition to his tone of voice. Perhaps he moved to quickly, perhaps his words were not diplomatically veiled enough. Diplomacy was never his strong suit and he knew as much; there was no better way to go about it than to lay out his proposal.

The landing was loud, but executed against all expectations. Much to the Knight’s relief –– she could never find solace within the hull of a ship.

Soft snow billowed from the structures below and released into the atmosphere, sprayed out, and froze. The gentleness to the weather was a stark contrast to the slaughter required to have any success over the ancient cult of warriors.

From one cultist to the greater collection, Vella’s intrigue was piqued. She’d not had the opportunity to witness The Vong in person. The observation from their perch gave her time to assess the threat before deciding to get involved.

Ruby gaze was transfixed on the entanglement ahead of them. The display was curious. Weapons of the modern age contesting with ancient biocreations and keeping the struggle alive.

Typically in tussles such as this, she’d be able to feel the fervent desperation and primal necessity to survive permeating from the battlefield. For the last period, however, the sensation was operating at a fraction of its usual impact. Space, where the Vong should have been in contrast to The Knights, was cold and empty. Silhouettes of the void should have been moving, but instead, all she could understand were layers interpenetrating like shadows casting shadows and blending into the darkness all around them. Blending but maintaining borders and perimeters. Entirely outside of The Force.

A stark contrast to the Force-dead foe in the village ahead, next to her was one who exuded a boastful presence in the Force. Confidence masked his face, too. A warlord to some, an exile to others, a Jedi to most. A leader to...more than any of the other titles she’d heard. With a gesture, helmeted soldiers had deployed into the fray without question. Silently gathered in the shuttle they’d arrived in and waiting on command.

“Hum.” Her throat itched out a sound that suggested her weariness with the pause after their dismounting from the HAAT. The cause and purpose of NIO’s presence at this point were largely unimportant to her, but if the Qotsisajakaar were to posture themselves as salvation, involvement in some level of liberation would prove helpful to buffing out the rough edges of their image. And pairing with someone who touted the title of Jedi only compounded that quest for neutral or beneficial imagery. Much to her chagrin.

"Keep your thoughts, emotions, and strength in check. Reserve them. Otherwise, you will never find what you seek."

She was seeking a game that required a much longer play than this day.

The itch to attack crept along her skin, prickling its way through her nerves and activating the wan amount of destruction that burgeoned inside. Her expression remained listless, looking toward Lucien. To her surprise, she caught him looking back.

Her eyes narrowed, peering at him as if searching for his command to deploy the collective that seemed ready. He didn’t say anything. Jedi hesitation.

“If you’re not going to get this started, there’ll be little left for you to finish.”
Her impatience could not be pacified, and with little more to the exchange, she vaulted from the relaxed posture they’d been in.

Dweebits covered his skin.

Tsavong plucked one off and began chewing on it, muscle, sinew, and chitin breaking off in swaths of saliva as he smacked his lips.

"Delicious," Kraal muttered, plucking another. "I've never tried them before." He stared at the back of Dione Dione 's head.

This village was small potatoes to Tsavong.

Yet another link on the cuff. A thousand experiments. The Yuuzhan Vong villain wouldn't have ever cared for this specific view, but... it wasn't quite his call.

He was insane.

Driven by thoughts not of his own making.

CULL THEM.

Well, okay. We've already done that but...

EVOLUTION.

Right.

Tsavong chuckled externally, appearing amused. But internally, bridled with anxiety, doubt, and a constant uncertainty as to where his own thoughts began and that of his abducter's ended, he chuckled the thoughts away.

The room was well lit, austere, and devoid of unnecessary noise. Every thought that raced through his mind felt like it was being put on trial. But for the sedatives coursing through his veins, the criminal might have lashed out in resistance. These Imperials, however, were not the same forgiving creatures he had grown accustomed to.

He wore plain white and gray fatigues, only enough to permit for decency, but not loose enough for him to utilize as a weapon. They were extremely precise. Alkor's dilated eyes shifted around, seeking purchase on anything that stood out from the opiate blur.

A pair of stormtroopers moved in to adjust his bindings, and he looked from one to the other with a vapid expression. I've killed men who looked just like this, he found himself thinking.

"So you have, Alkor Centaris. You stand accused of a great many similar crimes, over the span of systems from the Core to the Outer Rim. Do you deny them?"

The voice echoed in his head, so suddenly that he jerked backward. Thanks to the newly fastened shock cuffs, he received a healthy dosage of electricity for it. "Who are you?" he questioned groggily. "Why are you in my head?"

Strange, disjointed figures encircled him clad in white armor, their faces obscured by helmets. He felt a strange, blunt impact, and a moment later he was sprawled out across the floor. "Get up," the voice intoned. "I am asking the questions. You are to give only answers."

Alkor narrowed his eyes, but he could not feel his face. He pushed himself off the floor, blood trickling from his forehead. He shivered violently. This is punishment, Alkor recognized suddenly. It felt so foreign, though he was supposed to be familiar with the concept. This is...

"Focus," the voice snapped. It was a mechanical voice, he finally understood. Like a probe in his mind, not at all human. That was when he saw the Droid next to him, a needle plunged into his arm. "Answer the question. Do you deny them?"
