So if you are up to date on the questions flying around in the GR, then you know that they have proposed the question: Should they pursue a cold war with us, the One Sith? They have proposed this question because we made the original request. Frankly, the admins of the OS feel a reprieve might be needed from the constant turmoil of waging war with the GR. In terms of time frame, we've been out this for over 7 years IC.

Why a cold war? Well, because we can create an event that puts us upon the precipice of re-emergence into war. What could cause that? Well, we are still building upon that idea but trust me when I say that we are taking the idea very seriously. It's not something we intent to handwave. But what would that include? Instead of engaging in invasions on rotation, we we take part in meaningful story based engagements. Skirmishes and campaigns, we would focus instead on the concept of engaging resources and the fear of war and advantage. A solid cold war concept.

My personal opinion: I want the cold war. I think that the path the GR and OS has taken has been a long and arduous one. We've been at war for a long time and while I am just a voice among you all now, I think that the prospect of subterfuge and covert operations really entices me towards a style of roleplay that we haven't really encountered. Not on the scale that is currently being suggested.

There are no specifics, not yet. And before we really decide to commit to what this might require, I'd ask if this is in the interest of the OS. So...do you all want the cold war or do you want to continue on the path we currently tread, towards war?

Cold War......as a former Admin I voted for a Cold War based on what I felt at the time was something to end bad blood between writers, admins, etc.

Now as I re-evaluate my stance.....why should we have a cold war? It's clear to me that we have the GR on the ropes...why stop and let them take a breath and regroup? Unless everyone that writes a Sith character, and voted yes for a Cold War, have forgotten the main focus of what a Sith desires....the ultimate destruction of the Jedi....and their precious jewel, the Republic....then you are wrong.

By giving into this Cold War....we are telling other Factions we believe in diplomacy....we believe in compromise....we believe in letting others dictate what we can and should do to make other's happy....in the end, a Cold War is nothing but a blind justification of acceptance.

Yeah...yeah...yeah....people will say I'm wrong or don't know what I'm saying............and that's their right.......but in the end....while you seek "peace"....I seek the end of the Jedi Order and the GR. I didn't create a Sith who would sit back and dream of peace.

Peace is a lie......or has everyone forgotten that.

To answer your question while we are winning and on the one hand Vengeance and most liley Thanith would agree with your points. Viktor would not.

A Cold War however short it may end up permits us to shore up those ends to leave no possible avenue of resistance or counter attack.

Political we can work on.....Naval, well, we are sorely lacking in that department. The GR have characters dedicated to Naval tactics and such....we do not.

Plus we can rapidly expand without fear of being interrupted by a Republic invasion.

We did three Doms at the same time during their invasion of Ord Mirit.....I think we can handwave thier invasions

Cold War doesn't necessitate an acceptance of peace. On the contrary, by definition alone, Cold War is a firm stance of maintaining a competitive edge against one's enemy and attempting to gain an upper hand by means other than bombing the crap out of them.

Cold War is simply another style of waging war that is less direct and more ...involved than all-out Hot War.

Cold War appeals to those members/characters that might be more into espionage, political intrigue, subterfuge, propaganda, and even spying/assasinations. This isn't to say that direct attacks would stop, I do believe that will be handled by larger scale skirmishes to sate the tastes of those more bloodthirsty.

I personally vote yes to a Cold War. I've love to see what the Admins have in mind for this and I do believe a break from the drama that comes with invasions would be nice as well. Not only that, but with the next Board Event drawing near it'll be good to not have to split focus between wanting to participate in the Event or Invasions.
