"This affirmation a bond that time can't rend" -Final sentence of the Arkanists' affirmation of service.
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Intent: Develop lore for the dominant "Force tradition" within the Commonwealth of Zorn and its government-sanctioned organisation for the training and development of force-sensitive individuals. As its traditions are connected to the Jedi Order as an organisation, it has a more Humanitarian tone while still possessing the Iron discipline I try to emphasise in this culture's material.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Tradition Name: College of Arkanists.
Tradition Type: Formal Order.
Tradition Focus: Intellectual.
Influence: Minor - Commonwealth of Zorn.
Orientation: Balanced.
Influence Area: Zorn System.
Allegiance: Commonwealth of Zorn.
Symbol: The College of Arkanists' insignia consists of a golden structure laid on an azure field, with light represented by white shining behind it. This insignia stylistically represents the first stone auditorium commissioned by Lys Greenleaf and represents the organisation's shared heritage and unity through learning.
Description: The College of Arkanists is an institution of force wielders; it was founded by Lys Greenleaf, the first Jedi of Homo Sapiens Augeus, with structure and practices loosely related to that of the Old Republic's Jedi Order. Currently, the College of Arkanists is controlled by the Commonwealth of Zorn's executive government, and the Minister of Arkana administers the relevant legislation.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
Climate: Cloistered away from the troubles of the world, the College of Arkanists is, first and foremost, an educational and training organisation where its members are kept in the custody of the state for their education and training, where it is ensured the Arkane will serve the state and the community it represents instead of lording above it. Among its members, the college is home where, at the state's cost, they are provided accommodation, tertiary-level civil education, and a place to study their esoteric craft and be in the company of peers. The college takes a balanced approach to learning and researching all "Schools" of the "Deep World". Members of the college's student body and Warranted Arkanists relinquish their claim to inheritances or peerage titles at law. However, they can maintain contact with their families only once they've earned the coveted "Letter of Warrant" appointing them as a Warranted Arkanist. Romantic relationships between Warranted Arkanists are discouraged, and liaisons between Arkanists and their Vanaraukar guards are prohibited, yet they still occur. Warranted Arkanists are permitted to seek leave to engage in employment or training outside of the college without supervision; many Arkanists volunteer to serve in the military out of a strong sense of civic pride.
Membership:
- ~185 Warranted Arkanists.
- ~42 Apprentice Arkanists.
- ~1,980 support staff.
- ~1,816 security staff - Vanaraukar - Zorn Defence Force.
Recruitment: Children within the Commonwealth of Zorn identified as having a 'proscribed' Midi-Chlorian count are inducted into the College of Arkanists as wards of the state and relinquish all hereditary entitlements under the Peerage Act. The' Wardship' criteria involve detecting more than 5,000 Midi-Chlorians per cell. Children identified with these counts are taken into custody by the Commonwealth Security Force and transported to a College campus known as a 'Circle' where they are segregated from general society. Each planet in the Zorn System is home to a 'Circle'.
Training: Under the watchful eye of Commonwealth Security Force 'Vanaraukar' Konstabels, children are inducted as "Apprentices" and mentored in small classes by a fully-fledged "Warranted Arkanist," a person certified by the Commonwealth minister of Arkana to use their abilities outside the college to pursue lawful activities or occupational duties. When an Apprentice is between seventeen and twenty standard years old, they undergo several knowledge-based and skill-based assessments. They must demonstrate Apprentice-Level proficiency in all five disciplines and Arkanist-level proficiency in at least one school. Following this, an Apprentice must successfully resist possession to pass the assessments, demonstrating they possess the necessary will to resist the malevolent entities in the Deep World. Apprentices who fail to resist possession are euthanised by the Arkane Protection Act. Apprentices are then taken before the Minister of Arkana; the Apprentice affirms service to the Commonwealth before the Minister and Grand Arkanist and is appointed by Warrant.

Motives:
- Promote the safe research and study of the Arkane and Deep World.
- Provide specialist support to the community and state.
- Uphold the rule of law.
- Maintain the good reputation of the Arkanists' College.
Rules and Teachings:
- Arkane Protection Act: The Arkane Protection Act authorises the Minister or Arkana to appoint suitable assessed persons by Letter of Warrant as exempt from offence provisions created by the act prohibiting the use of what the laity considers to be "Force abilities" or "Sorcery". Where a sustained finding of serious misconduct is made, the act also authorises the Minister of Arkana, after a recommendation from the Chief Arkanist, to suspend or revoke an Arkanist's "Letter of Warrant" pending administrative, disciplinary or criminal action. The act specifies that the College's mission is to: "Research and Study the Arkane and related phenomena and, upon request for aid, provide specialist support to the Minister and executive government by law". The Arkane Protection Act exempts Arkanists from conscription into the military. However, they are still eligible to volunteer for service.
- Codex Arkana: The "Codex Arkana" is part of the code of conduct, curriculum and philosophy. Authored by Lys Greenleaf, it sets down the College's responsibility to promote the peaceful and safe study and practice of the Arkane and use their knowledge in service to the community. The Codex specifies the schools of practice as "Biomancy, Divination, Pyromancy, Telekinetics, and Telepathy." The Codex endorses impartiality in political matters of state, prohibiting Arkanists from publicly making a statement on public policy, and endorses that any such Arkanist must ensure they take steps to ensure their anonymity. The Codex discourages the formation of strong familial and romantic attachments and cautions Arkanists against allowing themselves to be guided by emotions, warning it is a path to: "Corruption".
- Way of the Strong: The College of Arkanists subscribe to the ethnic moral code known as the "Way of the Strong," which is deeply rooted in martial practices and attitudes. It is colloquially referred to as: "The path". The path emphasises the quality of a being, which is connected with the possession of qualities obtained by observing the path; the ideology emphasises the protection of the state and social structure and promotes selflessness at the expense of the individual. It espouses that the nation is one interconnected family where the loyalty between peers and clerks to their masters is significant, with the value given to the oldest in their society on the basis that society is based on a series of centuries-old ancient and immutable laws. Finally, the path encourages those who walk it to seek "Inner peace" through the state of mind of "As it is" in the pursuit of detached harmony.
Reputation: Arkanists are viewed favourably as wise seers committed to philosophy and learning within the Commonwealth of Zorn. However, some within Commonwealth society believe that the Arkanists aren't as skilled in warfare as their contemporaries. This is acceptable; their commitment to studying the Deep World is thought to bring their people closer to the spirits of ancestors passed on into the Deep World. Outside of the Commonwealth of Zorn, the Arkanists are not well known. However, those who observe them long enough and closely enough can identify similarities between the scholarly College of Arkanists and the monastic Jedi Order. For Jedi, Arkanists might be considered "Fellow Travelers", while the Sith might consider them as non-believers or infidels.
Openness: Within the Commonwealth of Zorn's territories, Warranted Arkanists are legally required to carry evidence of their membership as Warranted Arkanists, which entitles them to use their abilities to pursue any lawful activity or occupation. Their membership to the College of Arkanists is only socially concealed as long as they don't openly use their abilities. Ethical members of the College do not share their training or methodology with aliens or foreigners. They are institutionally discouraged from identifying their "Gifts" to foreigners for weariness of persecution and exploitation.

SKILLS INFORMATION
Characteristic Equipment:
- Autolock Quarterstaffs: The ancient outward symbol of office for an Arkanist was the Quarterstaff, traditionally constructed from hollowed steel such as Titanium or Tungsten. Modern iterations of this Quarterstaff are collapsible with physical 'auto lock' toggles that prevent an undesirable collapse, though contemporary Arkanists are generally unaware of this fact; Lys Greenleaf wielded a double-bladed lightsabre and Arkanist techniques relating to their Quarterstaff combat are derived from double-bladed lightsabre techniques applicable to the Quarterstaff. The Quarterstaff's customary use is as a less-than-lethal weapon to ward off large predators native to Zorn IV.
- Koarte Dea: An aggressive and savage looking sword used carried in Zorn society as the mark of an adult, Arkanists are instructed in its use as part of their training and as a Citizen of the Commonwealth of Zorn and when combined with their innate traits are broadly considered some of the most skilled practitioners in its' use throughout the Commonwealth.
- Letter of Warrant: Each Arkanist who successfully completes their training is appointed by a 'Letter of Warrant,' a written instrument authorised by the Commonwealth government's Minister of Arkana that permits the bearer to use their abilities in accordance with the law in any lawful activity. A Warranted Arkanist generally treasures this item and proudly displays it among their personal effects.
- Lionplate: Warranted Arkanists are gifted a suit of laser-cut, master-crafted Gold-Plated metal plate armour colloquially known as "Lionplate" according to a centuries-old design drawn by King Grann of the Kingdom of Zorn. Lionplate is traditionally constructed from gold-plated Titanium. With its archaic design and absence of modern technology, this armour is usually worn during ceremonial occasions but has sufficient material qualities to be functional protective equipment.
- Warrant Card: A physical digitally stencilled polymer holographic identification card that depicts the face of the Warranted Arkanist and identifies them by name in Futhork and High Galactic characters, along with other basic biographical information such as Height, weight, blood group and date of appointment as a Warranted Arkanist along with an Endorsement that reads in Futhork words to the effect of: "The person whose photograph and name depicted hereon is a Warranted Arkanist within the meaning of the Arkane Protection Act.

- Healing.
- Divination:
- Pyromancy:
- Telekinesis:
- Telepathy:
Notable Force Limitations: The College of Arkanists, with its origins rooted in the practices of Lys Greenleaf, the first Homo Sapiens Augeus Jedi Knight, is fundamentally rooted in the Goodwill pursuit of knowledge and the rejection of Malefaction. As a result, the curriculum of the College excludes the teaching of most skills and abilities associated with what the wider galaxy calls the "Dark Side". However, an exception was made for alchemy. Traditionally, the Arkanists' skills and abilities are centered on assisting the state through the application of accelerated healing, foresight and insight into the minds and feelings of their community.

Lys saves what literature she can; most of her students die. Lys goes into self-imposed exile, living as a simple farmer.
- 5 ABY: With the Empire collapsing, Zorn is abandoned. Lys Greenleaf initially adopts an assumed identity of: "Anar Emberstone" and ventures to the college near Dawncrown, where she finds ruins. Though, amidst the stone and rubble. Lys found her Lionplate covered in soot. Donning the armour again, Lys Greenleaf tried to save as many families as possible. Reforming the Arkanists' college from survivors who became the reformed college's first staff.

After the Grutter Norr Ryk's incumbent Archon authorises the massacre of Black Legion veterans protesting against the continued investment in fertility treatments at a time when men, women and children were starving. The College's Grand Arkanist Teodor Lightsong joins the organisation's voice to that of the broader public.
- 900 ABY: Teodor Lightsong and the Arkanists lend their abilities to the cause of a swift conspiracy to depose the Archon; for the first time in the college's millennia of history, they don their Lionplate and wrist-mounted shield generators and march up the stairs of parliament in the company of Vanaraukar security officers and seize control of the building.
- 901 ABY: Catapulted into the stratosphere about public opinion for their continued goodwill and noble deeds, Grand Arkanist Teodor Lightsong is decorated by the Minister, and the College receives expanded funding; the college adopts a policy of encouraging its' junior Arkanists to pursue military service to the new Commonwealth for it's re-commitment to traditional Zorn culture and ideals.
