- Extensive Hangar: Taking up a large portion of the ship's theoretical hangar space are several light cruisers, essentially bringing with it its own battle group. Even with those frigates it holds enough fighters to provide extensive starfighter support. It also supports integrated docking with one Corvette sized ship along the spine of the ship behind the bridge dome.
- Extensive Point Defense Network
- Powerful Array of Weapons
- It Flies Itself: Corellian VI allows automation of several systems
- Exposed Bridge Dome: While not in the traditional shape of the bridge towers on Mon Cal and Star Destroyer-type ships, the bridge is still exposed at the top of the ship along its spine.
- Engine Blind Spot: While most of the ship's vital areas such as the hangars and bridge are protected by extensive point defense systems, the large engines of the Colony-Class are too large to defend in any sort of reliable way, leaving them a large blind spot.
- Electronic Warfare: The Corellian VI can be sliced into either locally or through a powerful electronic warfare suite. What this means for the crew is up to the imagination of the Slicer as the ship computer manages most of the large functions of the ship such as frigate/corvette launch bays, internal gravity, internal defenses, and is tasked with regulating the ship's generator.
- Torpedo Tube Magazine: Once past the vessel's shields it was possible to strike a direct hit on the torpedo magazines which could lead to a chain explosion down the magazine
Of mostly Corellian design the Colony-Class Supercarrier took its name to heart, sporting several massive hangars capable of fielding hundreds of starfighters, shuttles, and gunships. Its most impressive feat, however, would be its ability to store several light cruisers horizontally in its underbelly, giving it the ability to operate with little external support and drastically expanding its mission profile. The ship would see limited service with the Free Worlds Coalition and then much heavier service in the final years of the war between the Galactic Alliance and the Sith Empire. While many of these ships were destroyed in the final years of the conflict, some would survive, most notably the ANS Starchild and ANS Dawn of Freedom which would later be rechristened the CDF Ascendant Justice. These survivors would provide the New Republic with enough data to rebuild and slightly update these massive carriers and entered them into service. The design of these carriers would fall back into Corellian hands after they declared independence from the New Republic and formed the Corellian Confederation. A small number of these vessels would go into service with the new Galactic Alliance, usually under distinguished Corellian Admirals.
With ten years of service under its belt, the Colony was only able to remain a relevant, powerful vessel due to its incredibly tough shields and its ability to carry a small fleet on its own. Its versatility was a testament to Corellian engineering.
