STANDARD FEATURES
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS ( 14 Items )
  • Slave-Rigged — The Command Cruiser has been equipped with a Aesir slave circuit system to significantly reduce the amount of labor that would be required to operate this ship.
  • Firepower — The weapon emplacements of the Command Cruiser have been heavily concentrated on the forward surface of the ship. Because of this, the Command Cruiser is capable of unleashing an impressive amount of firepower on any target that's directly in front of the ship.
  • Point DefenseThe Command Cruiser has been equipped with MAI-1 Defensive Turrets, a close-in-weapon system which were designed to launch neutronium spheres to intercept incoming missiles and other fast-approaching astronomical objects, and with Dakka Point Defense Turrets, which were designed to shoot down starfighters with kinetic rounds.
  • Targeting System Jamming — The Command Cruiser has been equipped with a Erebus Jamming Array which can be used to interfere with the targeting systems of opposing ships to try and reduce the accuracy of their long-ranged barrages.
  • Focal Shield — When the Command Cruiser receives a sustained barrage from a single direction, the Shield Force Multiplier kicks in, and will concentrate the available deflector shield energy to create a focused, reinforced shield, capable of withstanding an incredible amount of incoming fire.
  • Multi-Layered Armor — The Command Cruiser has multiple layers of armor which provide this ship a formidable defense, from durable materials like impervium, which can endure the heavy turbolasers, laminanium which can seal some breaches, or thorilide which together can absorb the physical shock of enemy attacks.
  • EMP Resistance - The extensive use of Tridurium as an ingredient throughout the ship's armor, alongside the faraday cage components, has insulated both the command and shield modules from most phenomena that might cause electrical disturbances, such as ion cannon weaponry.
  • Radiation Resistance — The interior sections of the Command Cruiser have been lined with agrinium which provides the crew an additional layer of protection from the dangerous effects of radiation that can be encountered when a ship loses its shields.
  • Difficult to Trace — The Command Cruiser has been equipped with a location scramblers that increases the difficulty of triangulating the location of this ship.
  • Medical Ops — The Command Cruiser has been equipped with a full-fledged medical center that is capable of providing comprehensive service and care.
  • Aura-class Projectors
    • Versatile Projectors — The Command Cruiser has been equipped with state-of-the art Aura-class projector package, with each platform containing four long-ranged projectors, each individually capable of emitting either a traction or pressor beam that can pull or push on astronomical objects from asteroids to capital ships.
    • Interdiction Disruption — The Aura-class projectors that have been equipped to the Command Cruiser are capable of cancelling out the effects of corresponding Gravity Well Projectors of interdictor vessels once the Command Cruiser has entered in firing range for it's short-ranged weaponry.
  • Gravity Well Early Warning — The Command Cruiser has been equipped with a gravity well early warning system which allows the ship to identify upcoming interdiction fields that may be coming up along their trajectory. This hardware provdes the crew with anywhere from a few moments to minutes, depending on the circumstances, to make a quick decision on how to proceed next.
  • Probes — The Command Cruiser comes equipped with a complement of forty-eight Skyeye Probe Droids which can be launched to investigate nearby systems.
  • Drop Pods — The Command Cruiser have been equipped with AT-RD Drop Pods which allows the Command Cruiser to rapidly deploy preliminary troops to secure a landing zone.
SIGNIFICANT WEAKNESS ( 7 Items )
  • Atmospheric Friction — The Command Cruiser does not have the hull integrity or atmospheric friction shielding necessary to descend down a planet's atmosphere. When a Command Cruiser does descend, the ship will break apart and scatter across a wide area as a wreckage.
  • Airlocks —The persons responsible for designing the Command Cruiser left the points of entry between the ship and outer space, unsecured. Meaning someone(s) could sneak onboard the ship from the outside.
  • Sensor GlobesLocated along the broadside fins of the Command Cruiser are matching pairs of sensor globes which feed long-range data directly into the Stawhawk III's weapon systems. When all four globes have been destroyed, the ship loses the ability to use its long-ranged batteries for their intended purpose (Conditionally Decreases Armaments from Very High to Very Low when the Starhawk III is far from the enemy). Unless this ship receives outside assistance, the Command Cruiser will effectively be short-sighted, only aware of it's most immediate surroundings.
  • Forward Reactor — Located within the hangar bay of the Command Cruiser toward the very end of the flight deck is a fusion reactor which powers the Command Cruiser. The fusion reactor is protected by a ray shield. A starfighter could intrude inside and launch a concussive strike to destroy the fusion reactor, causing the Command Cruiser, and likely, the entire Command Cruiser, to implode from the inside-out. Alternatively, there is a control panel outside the ray shield that can be sliced to deactivate the protective barrier. After which a saboteur could set-up charges to destroy the fusion reactor.
  • Shield Force Multiplier — Located along the broadside trenches of the Command Cruiser are a pair of antennas which emit the Shield Force Multiplier phenomenon. These technological protrusions could be destroyed with anything from a concussive strike to a proton torpedo from a wayward starfighter. However, these antennas perform redundant roles. To take down the focal shield they generate, the enemy would need to destroy both. Their destruction though would deactivate the Shield Force Multiplier.
  • Gravity Well Early Warning Antenna — Protruding from the dorsal fin of the Command Cruiser is a large antenna structure which operationalizes the gravity well early warning system. This structure is made from alusteel, and unlike the rest of the command module, lacks in armor. A well-placed concussive strike, or some concentrated turbolaser fire, could easy destroy the entire antenna structure and the gravity well early warning system with it.
  • Cryoglobe Protruding from the ventral fin of the Command Cruiser is a radome structure called the Cryoglobe. This structure serves as the heat sink for the four ion engines attached to the Command Cruiser. Once this structure has been destroyed through a barrage of turbolaser fire or a well-placed concussive strike, the ship's command will need to deactivate the engines or risk them overheating and exploding. This would completely strand the Command Cruiser in space and leave them a sitting duck.
WEAKNESSES ( 14 Items )
  • Slave Rigged
    • Slicing— Because each module uses and extensively relies onthe Aesir slave circuit system, the entire ship is vulnerable to slicing.
    • Naval Boarding — Because so many systems have been automated through the Aesir slave circuit system, this ship has become increasingly vulnerable to naval boarding. Between missions, when the Command Cruiser isn’t carrying a complement of troops to bring to the next theater of war, a detachment of enemy troops could readily overpower the crew and takeover the ship.
  • Forward Firing Arc — All the heavy-hitting weapon emplacements of the Command Cruiser are located on the forward-facing surface of the ship. Because of this, to bring it's might to bear, the Command Cruiser needs to be directly facing its target. This can be challenging due to its lack of maneuverability.
  • Rear Point Defense — The rear section lacks a sufficient amount of point defense weapons to adequately protect the Command Cruiser from a full-blown attack by a squadron of fast-moving starfighters.
  • Erebus Jamming Array
    • Optimal Jamming Range — The the Erebus Jamming Array operates best when the enemy ships are at a far distance. As the enemy draws nearer, the array's effectiveness at misdirecting enemy fire correspondingly decreases.
    • Signal Interference — The Erebus Jamming Array becomes ineffective under certain environmental conditions. When the Command Cruiser enters a nebula or similar space phenomena, the surrounding radiation and matter can weaken the array's ability to connect with and mislead enemy targeting systems.
  • Focal Shield
    • Lopsided Shield — When the Command Cruiser is receiving a sustained barrage from a single direction, the Shield Force Multiplier will cause deflector shields to concentrate around that spotting, leaving the other areas of the ship minimally shielded.
    • Irregularity Shield Exploitation — The focal shield being generated by the Shield Force Multiplier requires the enemy to sustain a constant barrage. When an opposing ship fires too infrequently, this prevents the Shield Force Multiplier from activating.
    • Multidirectional Shield Exploitation — When the Command Cruiser receives an enemy barrage from multiple directions, the Shield Force Multiplier gets scrabbled, and is unable to create a focal shield. This means Starfighters could work in tandem with a capital ship to collapse the focal shield being generated by the Shield Force Multiplier by hitting the armored frigate from multiple angles.
  • Maneuverability — Because the Command Cruiser was not designed with maneuverability in mind. Whenever this ship needs to change direction, it requires a wide and protracted turn to change it's ongoing trajectory.
  • Hangar Bays — Whenever the Command Cruiser opens its titanium hangar doors, the only thing separating the hangar from the vacuum of space are magnetic shields. These magnetic shields can allow physical objects like shuttles out but on the flip side can also allow concussive strikes to hit the unarmored interior.
  • Aura-Class Projectors
    • Limited DurationThe gravitation field disruption element of the Aura-class projector package requires exhaustive amounts of energy which limits its use in brief bursts.
    • Poor Tracking — While the Aura-class projectors are well-suited for targeting relatively stationary astronomical objects like naval mines or asteroids, unlike conventional tractor systems, they're unable to accurately target smaller craft, even struggling to lock on moving capital ships.
  • Gravity Well Early WarningThe Starhawk III can only use the Gravity Well Early Warning System when traveling along a well-established hyperlane with millennia of astronomical data to pull from (i.e. canon hyperlanes, see link). This technology can only be used when the ship is traveling to systems that are directly situated along a hyperlane pathway.
  • Drop Tubes — Protruding from the ventral section of the Command Cruiser are launch tubes designed to deploy AT-RD Drop Pods. Because they're exposed and unprotected, enemy fire could destroy or damage a number of these tubes. This would prevent this ship from rapidly deploying its forces planet side.
DESCRIPTION

The Federal Cooperative would receive a contract in 831 ABY to build a family of warships. This contract came from a consortium of sectoral governments which stretched along the frontiers of the Unknown Regions. Unable to receive the help they desired from the Republic, they pulled their meager resources and approached the Federal Cooperative. Few companies would be interested in undertaking in the project due to the budgetary constraints of these sectoral governments. However, the Federal Cooperative saw an opportunity in the fiscal constraints. The budgetary limits would spur innovation— or that’s the argument the public relations department made to the accounting department, seeing this contract as an opportunity to strengthen the Federal Cooperative’s brand in the frontier.

The Federal Cooperative would draw on expertise from Anaxes and Hodasal to establish the Starhawk Program. Both these worlds had an ancient and proud military tradition, however, in some ways their thinking was too conventional. The initial round of designs came-up with three hull designs, each would perform a different role: 1.) carrier, 2.) battleship, and 3.) medical ship.

The Federal Cooperative was unimpressed with the preliminary results.

The Federal Cooperative would transfer the team responsible for successfully designing the Snapper-class Armored Transport over to the Starhawk Program in 832 ABY. They would push the Starhawk Program in a new direction. They wanted to design a capital ship that could be rapidly adapted to perform different combat roles. To accomplish this, the new designers would successfully push for the Starhawk Program to adopt a modular approach moving forward.

Over the course of the next eight years they would design six modules which could be used to adapt the Starhawk III to the particular mission. Unfortunately, during this time period, the consortium of sectoral governments had broken apart due to in-fighting. Fortunately, though the leadership at the Federal Cooperative were impressed with the results and continued the Starhawk Program.

When they began the Starhawk Program the leadership at the Federal Cooperative initially envisioned supplying arms to sectoral governments on the frontier to deter the dangers of the Unknown Regions. However, in the interim between 831 ABY and 840 ABY, a galaxy-spanning war had ignited and consumed the entire Galaxy.

Unlike some of their other projects the Federal Cooperative would begin production of the new family of warships which they would christen the Starhawk III-class family. Due to the frequent disruptions in their supply lines, the leadership at the Federal Cooperative decided to integrate the chaos of the Galaxy into their production. They would salvage entire scrapped fleets to begin construction of their modules. Taking advantage of the technology that became available with each collapsed regime, they would build a new module.

The first generation of Starhawk III-class ships would be launched in 845 ABY.
