HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Shortly after arriving to Jakku, Annasari became troubled, seeing the state of how its people lived. As she got to know many of the families in the settlement she was staying in, that concern only grew, leading her to consider options. When the Galactic Alliance began to encroach on the sector, the tension reached an all-time high. At the request of the citizens of Jakku, she spoke on their behalf in front of the Alliance Committee of New Members. Begging them to consider the planet's suffering, she advocated for the Alliance to overlook the cost and help them from a place of moral obligation. The committee met her in the middle, offering association membership, and the perks that came with it. Once a formal government was established on the planet, Jakku could be reevaluated for full membership.
The ruling set Annasari’s course. For days, she locked herself away, studying different economic approaches and analyzing Jakku’s options. She emerged ready for her meeting with the planetary aide committee, her plan to better Jakku set. Before leaving, she met with several she had crossed paths with in her time on the desert world, all business owners. She explained the ins and outs of the guild, and what effect such a thing would have on the planet as a whole, as well as their wallets. Most were not opposed to trying the idea. With a course charted, she then pitched the idea to the planetary aide committee. The questions and criticisms were grueling, but at the end of the day, she secured funding for the project. Half donation, half loan, the credits were secured for the Commerce Guild.
- Intent: To flesh out Jakku and provide flavor for future threads.

- Description: The guild provides a source of income for those across Jakku, and a form of government for the planet. Members are authorized to buy starship scrap from normal Jakku citizens at a fair price. From there, the members are able to transport it to guild headquarters, where it is stored and bundled to be sold off-world in bulk. They are repaid the price of salvage plus a finders fee from guild funds. It has also allocated funding for the reopening of two surface mines for kesium gas. with the hopes of more to follow. As money is power, those who find themselves able to join often hold sway over citizens, and the guild council sits in monthly gatherings with the Senator of the planet and head of the guild, Annasari .
- Headquarters: Jakku Trading Post
- Domain: The guild presides over the planet of Jakku, with most major settlements having an active member in their community. They also have wide access to the [Space station here], enjoying areas non-guild members cannot access. They are very intermingled with the people of Jakku- with its recent establishment, many were just the lucky neighbors who could open a cantina or found themselves in possession of a working ship. The forming of the guild was an asset to the people of Jakku, especially those in deeper poverty. Many members extend additional benefits to those citizens they trust, such as small loans or ration donations, in the hopes of keeping good relations.
- Notable Assets:
- Jakku Trading Post
- 2 kesium gas mines
- Share in Oasis
- Various shares in other Jakkuvian businesses
- Hierarchy:
- Guild Executive
- Guild Council
- Guild Members
- Membership: Currently, membership is low, but the numbers grow by the day. Membership is easy to obtain- seek out a current member, have an interview, which is recorded and sent to headquarters, and the council decides if you are approved. Most are, so long as they have a notable asset to ensure salvage can be secured until pickup or delivered to headquarters. To maintain active membership, a quota of salvage purchases must be met per month, lest you be scrubbed from the roster. The guild council is around 20 people. To maintain a seat, you must have let the guild purchase a share of a business on the planet. Members can apply at any point upon obtaining their own business by contacting the office of the Guild Executive for an interview. Currently, membership is restricted to those who live and work on Jakku.
- Please note that the above explanation is IC. If you are interested in joining OOC as a member, by all means, please do so, so long as your character owns a ship or building and is interested in roleplaying on Jakku. If you're interested in a guild council position, the same goes, but please contact Annasari with the name of the business so we can list shares!
- Climate: On a member level, a warm is kept, many seeing potential connections they can tend to and utilize in the long run. On the council, politeness is still kept, but there is a feeling of cutthroat politics, as many businesses are competing with one another.
- Reputation: The Jakku Commerce Guild was a saving grace for many who lived on the planet. With poverty at an all-time high, and raids from foreign interests becoming more frequent, the Guild offered a change. Beloved by most, there are a few who have a distaste, as preying on those less fortunate is now much more difficult.
- Curios: A pin with the guild insignia. Most wear it at all times, marking them as members.
- Rules: For the most part, the guild is lax, though a few key points are listed below for members to abide by. Those in violation must sit before the guild council for consequences.
- Prey not on the weak: Do not knowingly abuse your guild position to harm those who cannot fend for themselves. Credits may motivate, but there is no real excuse for this. Examples of violations include blackmail, extortion, and forced labor.
- Consult the council: If a council member is tasked with a decision that could adversely affect the wellbeing of the guild, they are expected to call a meeting and speak with their fellows about it.
- A fair price: For lower members, a fair price must be offered for any scrap purchased on behalf of the guild. If a member is found offering too little or too much for purchases, they could face explosion from the guild.
- Goals: The mission is simple: provide stability to Jakku. Though the common goal benefits the masses, those in the guild have additional perks. Members see the least, usually only looking to make a quick buck off the salvage finders fee. When you move up to the council level, these businessmen see firsthand how a better economy can affect their own wallets Since the implementation of the guild system, citizens have easy money in hand, and they spend it somewhere- with amenities on Jakku lacking, it is usually at these owner's shops and cantinas. Once stability is reached, the guild hopes to extend its power to bring in more income, such as taxes.
