FORCE CRYSTALS OF DANTOOINE
DESCRIPTION
There are two types of crystals on Dantooine: Kaiburr or kyber crystals, and Dantari crystals.
Both Dantari and Kaiburr crystals grow in crystal mines that are located at force nexus points, with the ownership of the mine being the same as the Major Faction who owns the hex space on the map. If the hex is empty, the mine is either unoccupied or shared by everybody.
The Dantari crystal layer forms the bedrock upon which kaiburr grows. Dantari crystals are multi-colored crystal ores which achieve a color once they are held in the hand of a force sensitive person. The crystal's color can purposely change only through a special process that is known to senior-level force users.
Once a Dantari crystal is placed into a lightsaber, the crystal's color becomes permanent, aligning itself to the allegiance of its community and master / lord.
Power crystals, such as Kaiburr crystals, are a graduated type of Dantari crystal which is caused by the maturation and carbonization process that takes place when a Dantari crystal is placed underground near a force nexus point. Dantooine's and Korriban's crystal mines are full of kinrath, whose webbing creates a special carbon that solidifies Kaiburr crystals faster and increases the production and value of these precious crystals. The force itself seems to have touched the kinrath beings, just as it does on Kashyyyk, and this is apparent in other places where Kaiburr crystals grow in abundance too.
There are other types of power crystals on Dantooine, but Kaiburr crystals are among the rarest and most-sought. The crystal caves are in a state of renewal after the Mandalorians and Sith fought for generations over Dantooine, which devastated the crystal caves and the wildlife.
It is particularly important to note that the improvements or fortifications caused by these power crystals are ALLEGED. The Ruusan crystals, for example, only ALLEGEDLY give the force user more persuasive ability. Of course, with power crystals being worth what they are, it is difficult to tell if the force user is actually persuasive, or if the other person is being passively persuaded by the wealth of the crystal's owner. Even the provable technological functions, such as wider beams, are only anecdotal at best. The power crystals have become status symbols in their own right, and whether they are effective or not is irrelevant - because the Force User believes they are effective.
A Jedi Master or Sith Lord would comment that the power crystals are only "powerful" or "effective" because the force user lends its power to them. On their own and without being touched by the Force (as in the case of crushed unattuned crystals), these crystals are no more valuable than thermal paste. It is the fact that they have been found, activated and then owned by a powerful Jedi, Sith, or Force User which gives them market value.
SPECIAL FEATURES
- There are certain unique power crystals . However, those power crystals will need their own technology thread.
Alleged Effect | Crystals | Lore Location(s) | Worth between... |
Power Crystal Growth | Dantari Crystals |
| Worth various prices because it is the bedrock that grows power crystals. Not very well understood. Usually gets a grade for its potency and content out of five, with 5 star tier being worth between 10,000 CR and 16,000 CR. |

| 1000 CR - 4000 CR | |
Blade Burns Brilliantly |
| 1000 CR - 4000 CR | |
Blade Stuns | Alderaan | Rare; considered priceless by some; usually kept as an heirloom or auctioned off. Typically used in ancient training sabers. A synthetic version is available, but it is worth next to nothing compared to a genuine Bondar crystal. Historical value is such that it ought to be auctioned. | |

* "Force Nexus" means these vein types could be spontaneously found on any planet with a force nexus point.

WEAKNESSES OF USING KYBER CRYSTALS - USER SUFFERS ALL PASSIVE NEGATIVE EFFECTS IMMEDIATELY ON ATTUNEMENT
- Rare and Coveted: These focus crystals are rare and expensive. At a recent auction, a set of Dantooine Kaiburr crystals sold together with other power crystals for 230,000CR.
- Can Only Pick One: Power crystals will only attune to one person. That's one person - not one lightsaber, and effects do not stack.
- Incredibly Difficult to Mine: Mining power crystals requires the use of heavy equipment and a crew of at least three people to operate the heavy drilling extraction laser. Once extracted, the Kaiburr crystals must be put into a special protective case and they must not be exposed to sunlight or any other type of sun or flashing damage. These types of crystals require special mining expertise. Joe Shmoe can't extract them.
- Raw Power Crystal Veins Destroyed by Grenades: Grenades cause a diffusion that makes Kaiburr veins not work anymore. Therefore, the old "explode and clear" mining methods do not work on Kaiburr veins. They must be extracted carefully, and delicately, by hand. Any power crystal veins hit by an explosion will become inactive and will have no value to anyone except as thermal paste.
- Weak to Kinetic Damage: Both Kaiburr and Dantari crystals are profoundly delicate. Destroying a Power Crystal that is attuned to a force user with kinetic damage will cause the crystal to explode. Unattuned power crystals will simply be crushed into thermal paste.
- New Weakness to Force Sickness if Crystal is Destroyed or Replaced: If the attuned power crystal is destroyed or replaced, the force user will immediately experience serious force sickness. This also applies to the lightsaber itself (e.g. lightsaber destruction). They will hear the voices of psychic sentient entities and could become physically and mentally ill. The force sickness can only be repaired by a highly-trained force user who understands force sickness, or with a significant long rest period. Force use is minimal at this time, as it causes pain.
- Permanent Weakness to Force Sickness in Unknown Space: The user will also be more likely to experience force sickness in Unknown Space and especially the Unknown Regions. Power crystals potentiate Starweird activity, and these energy vampires feed on force users. Even when the force user gets rid of or replaces the power crystal, they will continue to experience force sickness in the Unknown Regions & deep space.
- Might Get Killed Over Its Rarity: Pirates kill over Kaiburrs. Bloodthirsty executives and politicians will kill over Kaiburrs.
You cannot use stygium crystals because they are a banned technology. DO NOT use stygium crystals.
Stygium crystals, once called "stealth crystals", have gone extinct in Star Wars: Chaos RP. Do NOT use stygium crystals in RP. A Citizen's Fleet will attack any person who uses stygium crystals and tries to use this codex as justification. DO NOT use stygium crystals in RP. You have now been warned 3x.
Although Stygium Crystals were once found on the Dxun moon of Onderon, the moon's fundamental topology has changed as a results of multiple military campaigns. The caverns which once created the perfect conditions for stygium crystals have been devastated and destroyed by centuries of ongoing conflict. The Dantari crystal bedrock no longer forms stygium crystals, and has not done so for centuries. Shamefully, even the Dantari bedrock crystals were plundered by Jedi, Mandalorian, and Sith alike. It did not power their technology for long. In short, there are no crystals of any focus crystal value whatsoever on Dxun. It has been overmined, and the caverns lay utterly barren. Stygium crystals are officially extinct.
The Dantooine Gemological Society declared in 850BY that stygium crystals are "officially extinct", and that any remaining crystals are to be gathered up and provided to intergalactic museums. Since this declaration, not one stygium crystal has ever been located.
Stygium ore and stygium crystals cannot be manufactured or synthesized in any way, marking the permanent end of cloaking technology and the Stygium crystal in general.
All that remains of the stygium crystal is an instructional warning to mineral barons of yore: "never overmine a moon".
EXTINCTION OF THE SAPITH CRYSTALS
As Sapith crystals were only excreted once every 11 years by a now long-dead Ancient Volice Worm, these types of crystals are no longer available for purchase or sale. Any Sapith crystals that currently exist in RP have been synthetically manufactured.
JEDI ONLY - JEDI MASTER CORES
These crystals can only be used by light-side force users. This crystal only attunes to light siders and Jedi, usually Jedi Masters. It is said that this crystal fortifies a light-side force user's ability to use light-side force powers, although the effectiveness of this crystal is highly debatable. Some have even suggested that these crystals do nothing.
SITH ONLY - SITH LORD CORES
These crystals can only be used by dark-side force users. This crystal only attunes to dark siders and Sith, usually Sith Lords. It is said that this crystal fortifies a dark-side force user's ability to use dark-side force powers, although the effectiveness of this crystal is highly debatable. Some have even suggested that these crystals do nothing.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "KAIBURR" AND "KYBER"?
In character, there is no difference between kaiburr and kyber. "Kaiburr" is an antiquated or formalized term, similarly to calling a toilet a "commode". The version spelled "Kyber" is the neologism of the term that has arisen in modernity, purposely misspelled to seem "hip" / "cool" / "edgy". Both terms are correct to use, but "Kaiburr" is the canonical spelling.
