Company/ Subsidiary/ Fleet/ General Questions

Number of Subsidiaries under a Parent Company

The amount below is the reasonable amount of subsidiaries for their respective tier with little to no development.
Tier 3: 4 Subsidiaries
Tier 4: 6 Subsidiaries
Tier 5: 10 Subsidiaries
Tier 6: 12 Subsidiaries
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Copied from the relevant source but here's my subsidiary question:
What are the tier restrictions on subsidiaries and do they differ? Example ; I own a T3 company and now a T1 subsidiary, when I make my next subsidiary does it also have to be tier 1 or could I make a tier 2 subsidiary instead?
The restrictions on service companies has always been a little more relaxed so if I made a subsidiary that is a service company (bars, night clubs, ect) would I be allowed to make it a higher tier to afford more locations to said company?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I love that owning a company means I get to maintain a fleet. Ask anyone that threads with me, my fleet or a piece of it is almost always on standby.

Does owning a company and consequently subsidiaries change how much of a fleet I'm allowed to maintain?

I've always maintained a fleet that corresponds with my partner company but would I be allowed to maintain a larger or perhaps separate fleet due to owning subsidiaries?

Well in my opinion, a fleet should be reasonable. You can bet the NerfBurgers doesn't maintain a combat ready wing of battlecruisers, but I can see them having hudnreads or even thousands of freighters and service ships flying the space lanes.

Now a security corporation, land or space will of course have a pronounced presence, but nowhere near that of a major or even a decent minor faction.

But I'm not staff, so this is all just an opinion piece, please disregard it

I try not to be ridiculous about my fleet. In my last combat situation I only had some of my fleet, a cruiser and two corvettes, while leaving out two frigates that I typically include.

But at the same time I sell war machines. The ship building aspect of my parent company is my bread and butter (if a Zabrak could eat bread and butter). So to me it's a viable concern. Am I allowed to maintain extra or separate because of the subsidiary? It's a matter of "personal protection" in my mind. I try to play out that if I'm away from my HQ then something has to be on station to protect it in my absence.

I've been debating making one, if only to gather other companies together with the goal of helping each other get misc threads for tier advancement.

But then there's that whole management thing I'd have to do and finding someone to make a faction banner and Icon I like and... ugh it's dangerously close to having to do work lol.

To answer your first question, it's fine to make a second subsidiary that is tier 2.

Each company is what has the fleet, not the character, so it does not change by adding subsidiaries unless you're utilizing multiple company's starships rather than just the one. I'd suggest going by whatever your largest company affords you.

Thank you for your input! I know being an RPJ isn't the some as being a Codex or Factory judge and this might be a question for one of them instead but, if I made a service company as a subsidiary would I be allowed to make it higher tier to afford more locations?

I want to make a service company called "Crimson Lady Entertainment" and start making casinos and nightclubs and hotels on some of the more criminal worlds in the galaxy. I'm not sure what I'll be allowed to get away with. Or rather what tier I am allowed to make it to allow more locations.

I still judge submissions in the factory (and I was a factory judge before I was an RPJ!), so I'm free to answer any questions regarding it. :)

By higher tier, do you mean tier 2 as a subsidiary of your tier 3?

Well I've seen tier 3 and 4 service companies get approved w/o any issues or dev. I don't intend to make a subsidiary of a higher tier then my parent company but if it's only a service company could I make it of an equal tier? I plan to do a dev thread for the first nightclub I make under the service company.

I don't know what companies these are, but it is not permitted to submit a company over tier II unless it is the subsidiary of a tier V+ company. Even then, the maximum is tier III with development. That aside, you can have more than 3-4 locations & 2-3 operations via more development at tier 2.
