I'm Sorry Dave

- Species: Starweird | Phaselings & Doppelgangers
- Name: Conduits of Dorn
- Designation: Sentient
- Origins: Darth Prospero
- Average Lifespan: Considerably longer than the original species, albeit with diminishing returns for the particularly long-lived; a formerly human Conduit might reach their mid-200s with minimal difficulty.
- Estimated Population: Semi-Unique
- Description: Moulded into living conduits for the power of the Dark Side, these wretched beings are physically puny, sickly-looking, and visibly maimed, but make up for this with immense potential for Sorcery and a number of strange abilities. Most at home in space, the strange devices affixed to their heads are necessary for them to survive planetside for any notable amount of time - one of several unintended side effects of splicing mere mortals with Starweirds. On a whole, theirs is a sorry parody of life maintained solely for the benefit of their creators.
- Breathes: N/A
- Average Height of Adults: 0.7 - 1 metre
- Average Length of Adults: N/A
- Skin Colour: Greyish-White
- Hair Colour: N/A
- Distinctions: Wretched husks of their former selves mutilated beyond recognition, Conduits are clearly, horrifyingly unnatural in every aspect of their being, with their innards being stranger yet; the pale husks they call bodies make Darth Sidious look positively healthy in comparison.
- Races: N/A
- Force Sensitivity: All; Conduits of Dorn are all very Force Sensitive, they have to be, for the obscure methods use in their creation will simply kill the non-Sensitive and those whose connection to the Force is "merely average".
- Font of Power: Moulded into living Conduits for the Dark Side, these wretched creatures are incredibly gifted in the mystical arts, their already substantial Force Sensitivity bolstered beyond the limits of mortal flesh; in some ways, they can be compared to walking Nexuses, stronger even than Sith Swords. Sith Sorcery, in particular, comes naturally to them, for the strange art permeates their very bones.
- Mind over Matter: Though their forms are mutilated, their minds burn like stars in the void - all Conduits are innately telepathic, able to project their thoughts and feelings into the mind of others, assail them with greater ease than other Force Users, and even let loose telepathic screams that induce terror most primal in organics, though strong-willed beings may be able to resist.
- Eldritch Origins: Born of Starweirds and stranger things yet, Conduits have no need to breathe, suffer little from extreme heat or cold, are able to levitate themselves with minimal effort and can even pass through matter without having to expend nearly as much power as a regular flesh and blood mortal would, though excessive use is still incredibly taxing.
- Accursed Existence: Abominable wretches that they are, even the faintest hint of the Light's caress is anathema to the Conduits; Force Light causes horrible pain, grievous wounds, or even death and merely being in the presence of a Light Side Nexus quickly becomes intolerable.
- The Flesh is Weak: Conduits have no functioning legs (or no legs whatsoever) and no ability to see except with Force Sight; their mutilated forms are physically puny overall and their abilities almost without exception rely on the Force. All this said, it should come as no surprise that the presence of force nullifying Ysalamiri would absolutely cripple them, with continuing exposure potentially even being lethal.
- Eldritch Origins: Moulded from unearthly beings beyond human comprehension, Conduits are plagued with hallucinations, horrid nightmares, and the near-constant whispering of incomprehensible voices; so eldritch are their origins, in fact, that the strange devices covering their heads are a required for them to be able to survive planetside for any notable amount of time.
- Diet: Other; Conduits no longer possess full digestive systems, instead sustaining themselves on a mixture of nutrient paste and Dark Side energies. To further boost their abilities, various drugs are constantly being pumped into their bodies, chief among them Yaladai.
- Communication: Conduits are universally powerful telepaths and physically mute to boot; I'm sure you can guess how they communicate.
- Technology Level: N/A, see former species.
- Religion/Beliefs: N/A, see former species.
- General Behaviour: With their entire species counting only a single
formerdrug addict at the time of writing, it is difficult to describe the behaviour of Conduits in general terms; what can be said for sure is that the terrible process required to transform them and the constant torment of their unnatural existence will have severely traumatised them in the absolute best-case scenario, with them being reduced to a withered amalgamation of their former selves and layers of cognitive conditioning being far more likely.
A first for Darth Prospero, the Conduits of Dorn came about as a result of fiery spite as opposed to cold logic or innovation for innovation's sake. Having captured Kiber Dorn during a routine sting operation, a series of unfortunate events (see Kings of Medicine) escalating with the revelation that Dorn had a hand in the near-death of the Sith Lord's little brother drove the usually calm man into a fury...
... and motivated experiments both invasive and gruesome, experiments that ended with the first, and currently only, "Conduit of Dorn", a name that could only be interpreted as a truly twisted attempt at humour, given how little of Dorn remains.
The story of the manifold experiments and strange sorceries by which Dorn was so transformed is one of cold cruelty motivated by spiteful hatred and complete disregard for standards of ethical medicine, including such highlights as the carving of runes into Dorn's very bones, the removal of his tongue and, ah, other parts, and a dozen other strange procedures and rituals, all of which were enacted with clinical precision.
Most disturbing of all, however, is the origins of some of the Conduits' stranger powers, for through "innovative new techniques" the essential properties of a captured Starweird were partially transposed onto mortal flesh through obscure alchemical methods, resulting in hideous internal mutations, a potentially lethal aversion to simply existing outside of deep space, and the decaying of muscle mass to the point where the legs were rendered entirely inert - and, in Dorn's case, promptly amputated, thus explaining the species "Average Height".
In order to further bolster his new creation's power and allow it to "set foot" on earthbound soil once more, Prospero constructed a strange device (seen affixed to the subject's head in the art) which, among other things, also continuously pumped nurtient paste and various drugs, chief among them Yaladai, into the wretched creature - ironic, since the "Kiber Dorn that was" had been a drug addict extraordinaire.
... and just like that, the sorriest excuse for a creature he had ever created was ready and all that remained was the field test.
