Confronting Fate

[member="Petra Cavataio"]

Venris had avoided this planet for his entire life, but he had only learned to fear it after an encounter in an abandoned temple which had left the mysterious world of witches embedded in his mind. He had told himself time and time again that the machinations of a bunch of backwards practicers of so called 'magick' did not concern him, that's e would never have reason to set foot on Dathomir...

Until one such witch in Tortuga had placed her mark on him. Despite this, he spent months trying to keep the world of mists off of his mind, doing anything from raiding enemy outposts to revelling with fellow members of the Fleet in Tortuga. Alas, it only held up so long before he gave in to the demand gnawing at the back of his mind, the urge to satisfy his curiosity and hopefully put his fears to rest.

And thus...Venris was getting off of a shuttle sent down from his ship, the Renegade Knight. With a tap on the co trol the vessel was sent back up to dock with the freighter, leaving Venris all alone in one of the jerky swamps that covered the floor of the jungle he had landed in. Taking careful steps, he began to explore the terrain in the general direction of what his ship's sensors had identified as a settlement of sorts, or at least a collection of life forms.

He had only brought his lightsaber for this, seeing no reason to confront witches with enough blasters or knives to disassemble an entire company of soldiers. Afterall, Venris was only there to talk...

He just hoped that they would accept that and not try to make the issue complicated.

Recent events seem to have made Dathomir popular. It was not a bad thing; however it was not a good thing also. Petra had mix feelings about it. It was keeping her busy with dealing building a better defense for the citizens of the planet. At the same time, it had her focusing away from what she was trying to do. So today was her day to focus on her projects and allow the scouts to handle more the issues of those that might visit.

A small party of four Nightsisters was on the move. They witness a ship landing a head of them and then moments later lifting off again. Not use what had happened to cause a ship to land and leave quickly. They moved with some speed to investigate. Two witches moved into the trees. Light on their feet, they moved from tree as the group approached the area.

Two Nightsiters that remained on the ground went up to the man they found in the area they had spotted the ship. They did not draw any weapon and came forward with hands visible to Venris. The one witch who learned basic spoke up. “State name and purpose.” Over the two witches’ shoulders, two glowing lights appeared from the trees as it was caused by the energy bows and arrows that other witches had drawn in case of attack.

Venris detected the approach of the Witches before they saw him, felt the strange sensation emanating from them as they positioned themselves. He held his arms at his side, palms facing forward and fingers spread so that they could both see that he was not wielding any weapons...and that his lightsaber was hanging right at his hip.

"Venris Helion," He replied, "I am no Jedi not am I Sith....thought it might be best to clear that up, I hear neither order gets along very well with the locals on this world."

He drew back his hood, and any who had witnessed Sedita Helion's skirmish or at least seen the Sith's corpse might recognize the similarity in the young man. He lacked the taint of the darkness within him that Sedita had embraced so readily, though one could still feel the presence of the dark side. It was like there was an unsteady balance, some object on a tip just waiting for its position to be disturbed so it could fall to either side.

"As for my purpose," He continued, "I have come to ask questions, nothing more."

The scout that stood next to the one that did speak whispered into the ear of the other. It was in their native tongue and about the appearance of the man before them. Then the one who had spoken nodded. After the gesture, her left hand rose into the air and for a moment it remained up until she lowered it. In the trees, those witches came down from hiding. They started their journey back before the other two with Venris.

One who spoke before remarked to his comments. “You come wit us for answers, gots it?”

"Gots it," Venris replied, quoting the one who issued the command. "Lead on."

He allowed the night sisters to guide him where ever they may intend to take him. His only hope was that this pleasant meeting didn't turn into an unpleasant confrontation, or worse. He only needed some answers, anything else these witches may want in return would be second priority.
