Conga (Valor Training)

From time to time, Jairdain wanted to pass on some of her knowledge to groups of people rather than just one. So today she planned to do just that. The lesson would be a fun and interesting one. It could also lead her students down a path of support which was exactly what she was.

At her heart, she was a diplomat, consular and advisor, but Jairdain was also a teacher. Her last class had been held out in the wilds of Kashyyyk, not this one. Since it had to do with meditation, in a way, she had requested one of the meditation rooms. Depending on how many students showed, she hoped the one with five or six seats would be enough for teaching Valour.

Along with pillows and chairs to be comfortable in, there was also a couple of aids for this. They knew what their purpose was, but her students wouldn't until she got to the opportunity to tell them why.

She sat now waiting for anybody that noticed her post on the board for classes to join her. Her hair was down like normal and rested on her shoulders slightly. Her shirt was a white blouse that buttoned. That was tucked into black pants and she wore a short, black jacket over everything. On her hip, her lightsaber was clipped and she sat on the floor with her feet curled up under her.

Veiere's role within the Silver Jedi Order had become something of an educator...-Or that was at-least what Master [member="Kei Amadis"] had suggested that he take up within the Silver Rest Temple of Kashyyyk. As a Jedi Master, it was his duty to seek to encourage and help the younger members of the Order to improve and grow on their experiences, yet as a returning Jedi from a long time spent more focused on politics and the leadership of millions of good people, Veiere found himself needing to take his time and get reacquainted with Temple life and that which was expected of him as a Jedi once more.

[member="Jairdain"] was a known member and employee of Commenor when she wasn't off pursuing her own goals beyond their World of Trade, thus when Veiere saw her message, he felt it only right to come along to this lesson plan and seek to support her as best he could, if not only in presence for the Silver Students of the Order but too a friendly face of encouragement her their tutor herself.

The Meditation Chambers had been pointed out to him in his tour of the Temple led by Amadis, Veiere now having his own personal quarters and place to stay when making the jump between Kashyyyk and Commenor. More and more, he was finding himself devoting time to the Jedi even over his own World, no doubt thanks to his general dislike for politics and a title that he had earned out of love for his Wife rather than having taken voluntarily or through the rights of blood and lineage.

"Greetings" He said with a wide grin as he wandered in the the room, seemingly the first of what would hopefully be many, "I thought I'd sit in on this one if you don't mind, Jair. Get myself familiarized with our Students and see who might be my prospective future attendants to lessons of my own design in the near future".

Well, they say you never stop learning, something that Asaraa was finding to be true. Whoever thought you'd know everything as a Knight was sorely mistaken, there always seemed to be something more that she could learn or practice, and this was no different. The ability to fight faster and better, as well as providing similar benefits to her allies? Well, that was something she was going to turn down at all. The pink-haired Jedi slipped into the room, hoping against hope that she wasn't late for the class, that would be just her luck wouldn't it? Still, she wasn't sensing the profound use of the force that she normally associated with the practice of force powers. A wave of her hand flicked the doors open, her hand rising to wave at Jairdain, pausing in mid-air as she caught sight of the man in the room with her.

"Umm, hi," so she might not really have been expecting to see Veiere Arenais in the room too, but now the man had joined the ORder she'd have to get used to seeing him around more, although that meant maybe she could convince Caedyn to come and spend more time around the Rest too since his family was starting to congregate here now. "I guess I'm not too late...or I'm really really late and I need to have a word with Stinger."

Sabine navigated her way through Silver Rest, skillfully weaving through the crowds in the main hall. The young knight was still relatively new to the temple, but she was finally learning her way. At least she knew how to get to where she was going today – a quiet meditation room. She'd happened to hear that a lesson would be taking place about Force Valor, a skill that Sabine had only heard about from her father.

She was used to learning at his side, traveling the galaxy and doing good. This business of classrooms, classmates, and teachers was all quite foreign. But, her Father had encouraged her to branch out. Master Yves Galen had told her that she would have only been serving to limit her knowledge if she only followed his teachings. Rather, she must see how others passed their knowledge on, for each had their own sense of style.

Entering the meditation room, she found open space and comfortable spots to sit.

There were three others in the room, and Sabine bowed in greeting as soon as she passed through the threshold. She'd managed to make a few friends and she'd certainly met some members of the Order, but these people gathered were new faces.

Right,” She said, setting on a pillow. “Hello, I'm Sabine... nice to see all of you.”

Sabine wasn't even sure which was the teacher, but she figured it would all become clear soon enough.

To be a Jedi was to care about those beyond himself.

Recent events had taught Jerek that lesson all too well. He had always been an independent fighter, or one sheltered by a stronger wielder of the Force. Fighting alongside someone whose strength was closer to his own, whose well-being was far more dependent on his skills, had illuminated the need for him to expand his learning. And one of the skills he had identified as a need was Valor.

The meditation room was small, so it felt almost crowded when he walked in, despite only having a few people inside. Chairs had been added to the customary pillows, creating a small classroom within the chamber, a silent reminder to Jerek that he had been absent from the classroom for several years now.

He flashed a grin at Asaraa when he spied her inside and nodded briefly to Veiere, it was humbling to see a master such as himself attend a class like this. The others were new to him, and he offered a plain greeting to them as he chose a seat —a pillow as he was used to, drawing his eyes away from the chairs— and said, "Hi there, I'm Jerek."

He gazed about the room, learning names and memorizing faces as they came to him.

Since Cassius had some down time in-between missions, he figured he’d use it to study a little bit. It had been some time since he’d actually cracked open a data-disk in the library, or even take a formal class, so he kind of wandered around the temple, looking for things to do. Even though he was now a Knight, it didn’t satiate his hunger for knowledge.

He was wandering around the meditation rooms when he saw a posting for a class on Force Valor. Cassius furrowed his brows as he saw the term. ‘Force Valor’? He could vaguely recall reading about it at some point… maybe this was the perfect time to learn about it.

Walking into the room, he was surprised to find it full of people he already knew. Giving them a small wave, he found a seat that was close to the door, near the corner of his room. This was out of habit – he liked to be able to see the entire room from where he was sitting.

When Veiere entered, she almost stood up to give her respects to her King. Jairdain did not think he ever fully expected it though.

"Your Majesty."

Motioning to one of the seats or the floor itself, she welcomed him to the session.

"Have a seat and hopefully others will join us."

The next to enter was Asaraa and she got a huge grin. If she hadn't been sitting, a hug would have been involved. They had shared a few lessons together, but this would be the first full class her friend had been involved in. Chuckling at her, she shook her head.

"You're fine, Asa! Haven't even started yet. Get comfortable."

Peering through the Force as others arrived, Jairdain didn't know any of them. Still, she gave them all a welcome and indicated they should all take a seat to get comfortable. Giving each of them a smile and nod once they were all sitting, she began speaking.

"Some of you already know me and some of you don't. I am Jairdain Ismet and today I want to teach each of you something called Force Valor. It is a skill that lends support to your friends and allies. There is a weakness to it though. The farther a person is from you, the weaker it becomes until it can no be felt."

Motioning to the aids that were waiting, they stepped forward and took up spots near to each of the people around. including Jairdain.

"These men and women are going to spar with you. While one of us performs Valour."

Valour was a small step in the direction of Battle Meditation and felt it would be something good to pass onto these people. They, in turn, could pass it along to their own students, if they had any.

"Do any of you have any questions before I really begin the lesson?"

[member="Cassius Droma"] [member="Jerek Zenduu"] [member="Sabine Galen"] [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] [member="Veiere Arenais"]

Veiere smiled to [member="Jairdain"], "Thank you Jair" He lifted a hand gently, "Though it's just Veiere now" he offered a slight chuckle at his own expense. It was no doubt difficult to shrug off those old formalities, though he had the advantage of never liking them from the beginning. "It's good to see you teaching" he added a little more quietly as he turned to notice the room filling up. Frankly, it was refreshing to be sharing a room somewhere else where they could just be themselves, away from the eyes of Commenor's political climate.

Moving to take his suggested seat, he offered the room another look and exhaled slowly under his breath as though it might distill any nerves. In truth he was still getting himself adjusted to life with the Silver Jedi, though on a personal level it was relieving for people to see him as on the same level. Able to talk to one another without his previous position influencing their conversations or behaviors.

Force Valor, Veiere hadn't put a name to it in the past, though he had practiced the ability in the more recent days with the Silver Rangers and the recent skirmish against the Sith Spawn and Cultists responsible for their being let loose. Battle-meditation on a large scale was a widely known ability, practiced by some very notable Jedi of the past. It had been a long time since Veiere had spent time in the Archives of a Jedi Temple. Growing up within an enclave, he often enjoyed spending hours trying to research all he could over the Force and theories behind so many of it's practices.

Sitting back in his seat, Veiere lifted one leg over the other and got himself comfortable for the lesson to begin. Soon enough Jairdain started to introduce the students of the room in the subject of Valor, a small smile crossing over him as he listened.

Everything the master, who introduced herself as Jairdain Ismet, said about Force Valor was something Jerek had known before. He understood the rudimentary basics already, the quick summary Master Ismet had provided was something he could have read in a textbook or encyclopedia. In fact, the padawan had read about Force Valor in a textbook before attending, and he was curious on some of the theoretical aspects of it.

"Master Ismet, I have a question," Jerek said from his pillow, feeling a presence behind him as one of the aides stepped closer. The fact that they were about to spar didn't worry him so much as the implications down the line. "Is it true that the user of Force Valor has to commit some of their own energy to the conduit? Doesn't that drain them as well?"

Jerek could imagine being in the thick of battle, and using Force Valor to boost his friends and allies, only to see his own performance falter. It seemed like using in that case it would have to be a strategic decision, whether his own abilities could win out alone or if it was more valuable to sacrifice a little to boost others on his side. "So, I mean if you were performing Force Valor on your friends in battle to help it be less tiring, you would get tired? If you're already tired, does that pass on your own fatigue to them, too?"

In that case, Force Valor would seem to do the opposite of its stated goal, lowering the stamina of the entire group. Talk about your Dooku Downer.

These were important things to know before acquiring such a technique. If Jerek had to remember to be in peak condition before performing it, that would mean the difference between using Force Valor or selecting another means to help. It would have helped in that way on Eshan, he had been fully powered at that time while both his allies had more limited reserves. But in a situation where a boost could be helpful mid-fight, Jerek had to know if his own participation could work against him.

Sabine watched as a few others, entered the room and took their seats. Among the newcomers was Cassius, a fellow Knight and adventurer. He was one of few that she considered a friend, too. She gave him a quick grin and then turned her attention to the front of the room, where their instructor was now introducing herself.

Sabine watched Jairdain, silently judging... but not in a mean way. She was merely trying to get a sense of the woman's experience and teaching style. Her explanation of the topic was brief, but straight to the point. For her own part, Sabine was certainly intrigued. Brows rose slightly when more participants stepped forward, sparring partners. Well, she supposed that experiencing Force Valor would be a quick way to begin learning.

Sabine nodded, she was ready.

However, her eyes shifted when a young man spoke up with a question. Hmm, he did bring up quite a good point. Still poised, she waited to hear the answer.

Veiere might not be king any longer, but he always would be in her mind. No matter how many times he had to remind her. That respect he had earned from his position and their personal interactions would never change that.

Giving him a smile and nod, she said only two words to him about it,

"Of course. As for lessons, this is something I have always enjoyed doing. Force related or not, it doesn't matter. One of the reasons I was hired as Bradshaw's advisor. To help teach him. Have you heard anything from him?"

This might not be the best place to ask, but Jairdain rarely got the opportunity to speak to him privately. Once that small part of the business was taken care of, she turned her attention back to the people arriving and waited until they were all sitting to continue.

After a question was asked, she shook her head.

"Quite the opposite actually. Valour also lends aid to the one casting it. So it is something you can use on yourself if you ever find yourself in need. The specifics of what the skill does is it enhances your speed and strength. It also allows your blows or shots to be more accurate."

Almost as if she was reciting from some sort of book, the Master hopefully provided an answer for Jerek that was satisfactory.

So it seemed that the boy's assumptions had been wrong.

He wasn't upset, Jerek reveled in the chance to have his perceptions challenged, especially when they were based on some faulty information. He didn't remember exactly where he had read the passage about Valor having the potential to pass on negative effects. Or perhaps he hadn't read it at all, and it was simply a rumor he had internalized. After so long away from his academic study, it was hard to remember, and it certainly hadn't been in the textbook he had reviewed before this class.

So much for coming up with an intelligent question to ask.

The padawan simply nodded at Master Ismet, taking the answer as it was. If Force Valor could also boost his own abilities and performance, as well as his allies, it was an incredible power indeed. Now, more than ever, this was something he yearned to learn and understand.

It was also, Jerek thought with a pang, something he should have learned much sooner.

Regret at his own inability flooded his heart. No one had been seriously hurt during the battle of Eshan, but the fact that they could have been...it tore at him. If he would have been a better Jedi, a more dutiful padawan, maybe he could have been able to empower his friends there. Maybe they could have saved more Echani from the terror that had befallen their city.

The teen closed his eyes, willing his thoughts to leave his head. Such heavy emotion wouldn't help him learn today, nor would it help him in a future battleground. He needed to be calm in order to be receptive to the master's teachings. A few breaths with a meditative technique, and Jerek opened his eyes once more, ready to go forward.

Without any further questions coming, Jairdain nodded to the aids that had moved up to stand behind each of the people present.

"Please close your eyes since, at the moment, your vision is more of a distraction. Focus your attention through the Force on me and observe just how I use it to connect to each of you."

This connection they shared was the key to being able to perform this power. The Force flowed through everything and she used that to connect to each person in the room with the exceptions being the aids. She was not teaching Battle Meditation here and left them alone.

Maintaining her focus on the connection, Jairdain stood up and faced the aid that stood behind her. Picking up one of the training sabres present, she nodded to the others to do the same.

"You all should be feeling a little better and stronger at the moment. Now prepare to have a small spar with your aid and see how you feel throughout the demonstration."

[member="Jerek Zenduu"] [member="Sabine Galen"] [member="Veiere Arenais"] [member="Cassius Droma"] [member="Asaraa Vaashe"]

Veiere was standing at the back of the room, choosing to participate only to reinforce the lesson that [member="Jairdain"] was teaching. When she asked everyone to close their eyes, he too did so and fell into a light trance; connecting with everyone else present, he allowed his control of the force to help build upon the state they all shared. This feeling of a strengthened presence would not be found disturbing in any sense, but rather give the students there the feeling of encouragement and support, as though the warmth in Veiere was being placed into the exercise itself for each and every one of them to feel his ease of practice, the intent being for them to find it easier themselves, to connect with the force and maintain that connection with less strain on their minds as it might typically cost them.

For Jair specifically however, Veiere would take a moment to pick up on and focus directly on her presence out of all the others. For her, he wished to convey his support and his approval in seeing her teaching a class. Despite her having done this many times over, it was the first time that Veiere was experiencing Jairdain teaching within this capacity and helping new or younger prospective Jedi learn to build upon their skills and learnings, brought him a sense of pride, comparable perhaps to the likes of a father looking upon their daughter. He and Jairdain weren't related by blood, however she had given he and Kay a grandchild through her partnership with Bradshaw Ku some time ago, and Veiere still considered her family all the same.

Being with the Silver Jedi Order, and not only knowing, but experiencing these times alongside her, it gave Veiere something of a new perspective. In a sense, he felt closer to her through the sustained connection, than he might have felt before. It could be that their fondness for the force and teaching may be the thing they had in common, either way, it was a pleasant experience to be there and able to support her from the sidelines.

When Jair asked everyone to open their eyes and prepare themselves to pair off and spar with their opponents, Veiere simply watched with a peculiar smile. Life in the Temple was far more peaceful than one governed by politics and Veiere had sorely missed the active routines that accompanied such academic facilities under the Order. If it weren't for [member="Kay Arenais"] being locked away, Veiere might have considered this a worthy retirement plan, spending the rest of his days helping students grow into prominent Jedi Knights, that they can move forward and serve the Galaxy and the Force long after his time.

Of course, few there were actually students...But they were all far younger than he was.

If not in body, surely in mind.

A rollercoaster... that was what her life had become. Her teenage years had been marked by sudden outbursts of physical and emotional abuse by her father. It was a wonder she was sane, much less the kind person she was. Silfe had then been ordered to Commenor, to serve Cyrillia's population there as Senator. THough the position had been short lived, her friendships there had given her the strength to remain despite her father's orders for her to return home. She accomplished a measure of growth as Senator, as Minister of Foreign Affairs and then finally as Lady Silfe of Alcuin. Now all that was done. The people of Commenor were voting for their leadership and she was now on Kashyyyk with the Order of the Silver Jedi.

She would always be of service to the people of Commenor should they need her, but she felt a change of place and space would help clear her head and give her the room she needed to make some very important decisions. Kashyyyk was a beautiful planet, full of natural resources and massive trees. The air smelled crisp and pure and she found herself truly loving it here. There was such a sense of peace here that she found herself relaxing in a way she had not in a long time. The tension that lived perpetually in her body was gone as she looked out among the fog and tree limbs from her small balcony.

The SJO had been very welcoming to those of the Commenori government who had wanted the change. They had given her a place, small but fairly luxurious and the view could not possibly be beaten. It was with some reluctance that she left that view, grabbing her cloak to pull over her dress and making her way towards [member="Jairdain"]'s class where she wished to observe the woman teaching. Once she walked in, she realized she was not alone.
