BIG Z1776
Baboon with a MAAWS
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
An effective and fast support ship, it is the backbone of the CRAF's air/spacelift capacity. The Block-II ships are nearly-identical to their Block-I counterparts, with only a small armaments increase and a larger hangar for increasing the starfighter complement of the ship. This means that attacking a convoy of these ships is a much more dicey proposition with each ship having the flak battery and fighter complement of a small escort carrier. These ships are the primary logistics support for the fleet when it is out on patrol or maneuvers. Their primary roles are in refueling, ammunition, and general supply transport. The ships can carry more than four hundred thousand tons of cargo in four detachable cargo pods. Their powerful engines and excellent maneuverability are paired with a simple control suite in the bridge to allow it to maneuver freely like a much smaller ship so it can fulfill the dual role of large blockade runner. Its weapons are totally remote controlled to reduce crew needs and its ammunition capacity is rather small compared to other ships who use proton cannons. While it can outrun most run-of-the-mill corvettes fast corvettes can keep up with it, but the ship is powerful enough to slug it out with one. Although if it comes across a cruiser who might be able to intercept it this ship will not fare well.

- Large number of "Sentinel" Combat/Security Droid stations.
- Compartmentalized cargo bays with eight rapid-load containers which attach and detach with built-in tractor beams. These cargo containers are accessed through normal hatches and hallways, and the cargo containers are navigable through catwalks inside of them and are patched into the ship's life support system. Liquid or gas-filled containers have no such internal access.
- Heavy layered ray shields around crew quarters, the primary and auxiliary bridge, and the engine spaces to protect the ship from being hijacked.
- Ceiling-mounted HOB/F Heavy Repeating Blasters in the hallways to defend the ship from boarders.
- Particle shields for anti-boarder defense.
- Hangar equipped to launch three squadrons of "Viper" Droid Starfighters for protection and combat air patrol of a convoy.
- Heavily-redundant damage control systems with fire-fighting foam dispensers, and fire-detection sensors and numerous back-up lines for power, coolant, and fuel.
- Compartmentalized and internally shielded fuel tanks.
- Ammunition loading rails for supplying various missiles, bombs, and other munitions.
- Large and powerful pumps for refueling other ships.
- Hidden, shielded, and armored compartments for crew to hide themselves in the event of an enemy boarding action or small amounts high-value cargo.
- Very fast and maneuverable, built to be a blockade-runner.
- Tough for a predominantly cargo ship.
- Can carry lots of different cargo.
- Its droid starfighters can defend it quite capably.
- Very under-gunned.
- Doesn't have a hangar capacity or equipment to manage support craft permanently without non-standard after-production modifications. (A single dropship could stay there but it won't be able to be refueled.
- Small crew, potentially vulnerable to inside job or large boarding action, and if casualties are sustained repairs are going to be very difficult without outside assistance.
- Cargo containers are vulnerable to taking severe damage.
