Control Yourself, Young Padawan (Miarta/Training Thread)

The Grandmaster was busy these days and didn't tend to teach Padawans as much as he used to. But at times, he would make exceptions. This one being with @[member="Miarta"].

And so he strode to the training room and took a seat. He cracked his neck and crossed his legs... He would meditate and wait for his new Padawan to enter. He knew he had a long way to go with this one. He could sense a disturbance in the Force with her....

Miarta peaked into the room nervously, she was scared. Josh was her teacher now. When they were joking around and laughing together she felt somewhat comfortable, but what if as a teacher he was completely different? What if she let him down? What if she wasn't good enough? What if he changed his mind? All these questions ran through her head constantly over the last few days, making her fear continue to grow and worsen. She walked into the room slowly, pausing a few feet into the room. "Uh.... Hi?"

He opened his eyes as his Padawan came in. He gave a small smile. First, he would teach her to meditate and relax.

"Come sit, Padawan" he commanded calmly as he patted the spot beside him. This wasn't the same DragonsFlame she had met in the cantina, or hung out with on the ship. This was Josh in full Grandmaster, in full teacher mode.

How would she react?

Miarta nodded and walked over to him. She took a seat on the ground next to him, trying to hide her fear and nervousness. She could feel her fear building the longer she was in this room and that made her even more scared. She was terrified of letting her new friend and now teacher down. She didn't want him to think of her as some weak little girl who would need saving all the time. She looked down at the floor, trying to calm herself. Once she had settled down a bit she looked back up at him with the same curious gaze she often wore around him, though fear could still be seen in her eyes.

"Cross your legs. Close your eyes. Relax" he said calmly as he looked at her with a small smile. The Grandmaster didn't show any favoritism as he calmly gave the instructions for meditation.

The best way to calm her? Simple meditation. Letting her immerse herself in the light side of the Force and balancing herself. The best premise for a Jedi to be in.

Miarta nodded and did as she was told. She tried to focus on calming herself and clearing her mind of any nervousness and fear that still lingered there. She didn't expect Josh to show any favoritism towards her, but she did hope that he would not suddenly end their friendship outside of training because of her status as a student. She took slow deep breaths trying to clear her mind.

They were close friends, aye, but for now she was a student. He smiled a bit and watched her.

"Relax. Close your eyes" he instructed again calmly. "Clear your mind. Fear, nerves, anger.. Let it fade away. Now... Reach out. Reach out into the Force, Miarta. Feel everything around you with the Force" he instructed, cracking his neck slightly from the stiffness, hoping the sound wouldn't distract her.

Miarta nodded and did as he had instructed. She winced slightly when he cracked his neck, the sound was way to similar to the sound of bones snapping for her. After a few minutes she succeeded in clearing her mind. She breathed slowly and deeply as she reached out, trying to sense everything around her. Her fear was under control for the most part, for probably the first time in her life.

She had been distracted at first, but he was glad as he felt her relax, felt her reach out and calm... He nodded slowly. Good, good... She was getting there. He could feel it, the Padawan was relaxed.

"Now... Reach beyond the Temple's walls, Miarta" he instructed calmly. "Feel the life of the Jedi around you, in this temple... Listen then, reach out to the garden... Listen to the running water in the fountains.... Relax yourself.... Let the chirping of the birds, the running of the water immerse you into the force... In peace... Let go of your fears, and just... Relax..."

Miarta nodded and tried to focus on doing what he had asked. She felt a little overwhelmed by the task, due to all the Jedi around the temple. She felt so small and insignificant compared to them. And weak, she felt really, really weak. She tried to ignore it, but the weakness made her fear return a bit. She knew there were plenty of Jedi who were not as accepting of her as Josh was, that were likely waiting for her to fail. She bit her lip, trying to stay calm, but it was getting harder and harder as she tried to reach out further.

He reached out and placed a hand on @[member="Miarta"]'s shoulder.

"Relax yourself, Padawan" he instructed calmly. "Do not fear those around you. They are your friends, your allies. Your brothers and sisters in this Order. Do not fear them. And do not consider yourself insignificant... We all had to start somewhere"
