For most of the villagers in Far Water, morning was still a period of slumber since the best time to harvest the krill from the ponds was during the middle of the afternoon. However, whenever traders came by, the villagers made every effort to accommodate them, not only due to a strong culture of hospitality, but also because the traders were often incredibly wealthy. As such, when an exotic elfin merchant arrived in the village, many of the villagers were up as they sought to present their goods for barter and trade. In the midst of bartering and trading, it did not take long for the villagers to realize that the elfin merchant had a similar appearance to one of their own. Like Lisilla, the merchant had a diminutive stature, along with long and pointed ears. However, she lacked Lisilla’s long eyebrows and her violet red hair. Nevertheless, it did not take long for one of the villagers to tell Lisilla of the mysterious elfin visitor.
“Lissie! Lissie! Lissie! There’s someone downstairs that you need to see, quick! She looks just like you!” Valery cried cheerfully as she entered Lisilla’s quarters. “Come quick!” The little girl added excitedly, before going silent as she watched the diminutive Aetharian woman do her make up by a mirror.
“Wait...really?” Lisilla quickly turned around as she applied a styling gel to her eyebrows. “Are you serious?”
“Yes! She has ears just like yours! Buuuut...I’d say that yours are quite a bit...longer.” Valery said in a slightly contemplative tone. “And her eyebrows don’t like...stick out.” The little girl added as she watched the Aetharian groom her long brows.
“That’s...interesting, actually.” Lisilla replied as a slight frown came over her features. “I’ve only heard of Aetharians with eyebrows like mine. “But...I guess there can be a few exceptions? Maybe she shaved hers and painted on regular eyebrows.” Lisilla mused.
“Well, hers look real, I think.” Valery replied. “But, hurry up Lissie! She’s waiting downstairs!” The girl impatiently tugged on Lisilla’s sleeves. “I really want to see what you two look like together!” She finished.
“I’ll be outside in a moment, Val. Just let me finish my makeup, okay dear?”
“Yes ma’am! I’ll wait outside the room.” Valery replied dutifully.
“Good girl.” Lisilla added as she leaned down to kiss the child on her forehead. “I’ll be just a moment, okay?”
True to her word, Lisilla did not keep Valery and the mysterious elfin visitor waiting for much longer after she finished grooming her eyebrows and fixing her hair. After putting together a cute outfit, Lisilla came down the stairs and entered the common area.
Moments later, when the mysterious Elfin merchant appeared around a corner, Lisilla could not restrain a sharp and audible gasp from escaping her lips.
