Conviction of the Governor

Well-Known Member
One Week after the Ceasefire on Belsavis...
There had been a flashpoint on Belsavis a week ago. You maybe been a part of it, you may not have been, though nonetheless if you were a citizen of the Oversector Coalition or the Galactic Alliance, you knew about the conflict that occurred on Belsavis... and the tragedy that followed it. Hundreds, maybe thousands were lost that day, and who would answer for it all?

It had been learned, that there was no true ambivalence between the two factions, except for the fear that surrounded the Coalition to the might of the Alliance. The Coalition had been deceived. Javin, had been deceived. The Governor - Ryker Kel - had been deceived.

In moments, there would be few in the Galactic Alliance who would not know the name of Ryker Kel. A flicker on your holomonitor changes whatever it was you were watching, and moves into breaking news. It was the revolting and grotesque face of the Governor himself, standing before a podium with two Alliance soldiers at his side. A moment of static, and his opens his mouth to speak eloquently of the tragic series of events.

"Citizens of the Galactic Alliance,
"Citizens of the Oversector Coalition,

"My name is Ryker Kel, the current Governor of Javin and Council Head of the Three Sectors of the Coalition. One week ago, there was a conflict on the prison world of Belsavis. I started this conflict. I spoke with the other world leaderships, and we all agreed to move forward with this attack. I created propaganda to promote patriotism, so that our militias would gain more recruits for an ultimately fruitless campaign. On Abraxas, we hired mercenaries, signed letters of marque, and prepared for our assault.

"I made the decision with haste, and made sure to persuade all that I knew of the present danger to us all.

"We came to Belsavis because of information I had received, which incriminated the Galactic Alliance of the possession, and the intention to use a Superweapon. Our collective fears were too great to ignore, and there was little resources in which to verify the compelling evidence we received. Little to our knowledge, the information had been twisted to implicate villainy, sent from the superweapon itself - The World Razer.

"In our efforts to remove the Superweapon from operation, we had unwittingly fell into a conflict which could have potentially freed it... our worst fears, realized in the path to avoid it.

"...

"It has become clear to me, now with so many letters I must write to families of their lost loved ones, and the death's I must answer for against the Galactic Alliance, I am no longer the leader to protect those worlds I cherish within our noble Coalition. For so long we had enjoyed the peace of unity, and now in the aftermath of crisis... I must sacrifice that unity for the sake of our collective protection - our collective peace.

"As such, I hereby surrender my authority and protection of the Oversector Coalition to the Triumvirate leadership of the Galactic Alliance, to prevent such tragic circumstances from ever needlessly claiming lives again, and I implore all Coalition leaders to follow suit.

"...

"Furthermore, I request that all responsibility and fault for the deaths involved in the Battle of Belsavis, to be placed upon myself... even those deaths caused by the Tunroth Militia present in the battle post-ceasefire. I hope I may be put before an alliance tribunal, for judgement.

"Whatever it may be."

At that moment, the Governor's speech would be over, and the holoprojector would resume to its regularly scheduled program.
