Mara D'Lessio Merrill
The Lesser D'Lessio
Intent: A tragic little memento of Corellia's destruction; a way to make the ruins of Corellia more relevant and interesting.
Development Thread: None
Manufacturer: N/A
Model: N/A
Affiliation: Anyone
Modularity: No
Production: Minor (quite rare; suitable for minor-produced items or less)
Material: A quasi-naturally occurring variant of havod, which includes chanlon and hfredium. Cannot be duplicated with normal havod formulations.
Description: In the aftermath of Corellia's breaking, rescue crews in the deepest fissures discovered deposits of an odd red metal. Chemical tests confirmed that the substance was a variant of havod, with minor differences that defied analysis. Speculation as to the source of those differences ran the gamut from ancient Celestial intervention to the heat and stress of planet-breaking to the leftover effects of Akala's Nethermancy. Whatever the reason, once refined the metal was stronger than normal havod alloy, which generally does not occur in nature. The new metal was dubbed Corellian bloodsteel. It has become a symbol of Corellians' lost homeworld and a desirable choice for weapons or starships owned by Corellians -- but it has also attracted the wrong kind of attention to Corellia.

- (+) A metal suitable for starship hulls and weapon/armor applications, somewhat stronger than standard hullmetals (durasteel, alusteel, quadranium, matrix armor, etc.), though not as strong as phrik or beskar. Can be re-alloyed into a transparent form with a red tint. This weaker form is as strong as glasteel/durasteel, stronger than transparisteel, and usable with blast-tint polarization.
- (+/-) A powerful reminder of Corellian identity, often associated with a pilgrimage to the broken world. Some pilgrims smelt and cast their own mementos, or find the ore themselves. Many Corellians can be assumed to own a ring, knife, or small trinket made of Corellian bloodsteel -- making them targets for the unscrupulous.
- (-) Rare and expensive. Minor-produced items at best. Most Corellian bloodsteel items would be unique or limited production.
- (-) Obviously, many Corellians are not pleased when outsiders try to mine bloodsteel, or even when Corellians try to make a large profit off of it, regardless of context. Bloodsteel sales on the open market had better be closely associated with the needs of Corellians, ideally homeless Corellians, or enmity may be earned. Same goes for anything egregious.
- (~) No special qualities apart from high percussive and tensile strength. Density comparable to durasteel.
- (+) Blood red, which is very nice.
- (+) Easily distinguished from normal havod by a hydraulic press, servomotor grip, or durasteel blade or surface (bloodsteel will scratch or dull durasteel; havod will be scratched or dulled by durasteel).
