Armored
Armored: Though by no means a tank, the IC-401 Armored Speeder Bike will at the least not fall apart in a cross wind. It is capable of withstanding several direct hits from average powered blasters, though it is vulnerable in specific parts.
Steering: If a crack shot can shoot the exposed steering vein control joist, the vehicle has much the same reaction as always with regular steering veins, only moderately less - it will become infinitely harder to control and direct.
Doesn’t Stop on a Dime: Owing to weight of armor and overall mediocre handling, a quick stop on this model can actually cause the speeder bike to flip end over end. Just as too sharp a turn will cause it to uncontrollably roll.
Although not a ground breaking vehicle, CEC has taken the concept of a military speeder bike and made it’s own spin. Though it gives up trademark maneuvering to some extent, it maintains speed and a light armament, and gains a hefty plating of durasteel which allows the bike to actually take a few hits, and even has a small compartment to either side of the drivers legs, allowing extra rations, a small blaster, and an emergency shelter kit or the like to be stored within, making it a more dependable vehicle for long-range missions and explorations of potentially hostile environments. The key to this design is the potential for modulating the weaponry of the bike, as with all CEC designs, it is made to be able to be individualized to a certain extent, even if limited in number of weapons to only one.
