STRENGTHS
  • For the Demons, Man: Supposedly a potent occult ward which keeps its wearer safe from Darksider attacks upon fortune. Called il malocchio, this dangerously subtle and definitely fake Sith curse is powerless against a red horn for some reason.
  • Lucky Trinket: While the curse itself is fake, there is something to be said for the power of belief however misguided. Anyone wearing the talisman will benefit from a kind of scoundrel's luck which subtly guides random chance in their favor.
WEAKNESSES
  • Protection From Superstition: The Eye doesn't exist and this horn has no functional purpose.
  • Reversal of Fortune: Don't piss off lady luck. If whoever wears the talisman loses or breaks it they really will be cursed by ill fortune until its found or mended.
DESCRIPTION

Il malocchio is a popular Outer Rim folk tale/urban legend which ascribes occult powers to the Jedi and Sith beyond what they are actually capable of. According to legend Force adepts with enough training can curse anyone with a look. Accounts range anywhere from simple bad luck to guaranteed fatal accidents within a certain period of time. Academics largely attribute the malocchio phenomenon to confirmation bias and primitive superstition among those who witness actual confrontations with Jedi or Sith, degenerating over time through second hand accounts.

Most of the time as soon as someone with Force potential is educated on the true mysteries of their order they recognize tales of 'the Eye' for the primitive nonsense it is. Most of the time. Sheriff Amroth of Terminus never paid all that much attention to academics. While the Judge has plenty of field experience there are painful gaps in his basic understanding of how the Force even works. The Corno Talisman was fashioned to protect his most trusted allies from what he considers a serious gap in their defenses.
