ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Back-up Deflector Shield Generators
  • Catapult Pressors: The Coronet has enough catapult pressors that every starfighter has its own catapult pressor, meaning that its entire starfighter complement can be launched simultaneously and at high speeds.
  • Slave-Rigged Systems: Thanks to the extensive use of slave circuits and modern computers, the Coronet series is highly automated and only needs a small crew to operate. The star destroyer can even operate with only a small bridge crew, though at greatly reduced efficiency.
STRENGTHS
  • High Defense: The Coronet, while not sporting sophisticated defenses, simply uses brute force engineering to make it an enduring threat on the battlefield by using thick layers of durasteel hull plating and a number of back-up deflector shield generators.
  • Large Complement: Much like the classic Imperial Star Destroyer, the Coronet has dedicated a large amount of its internal space to carrying a large number of smaller starships as well as an entire battlegroup of troops.
WEAKNESSES
  • Low Speed: The Coronet is not a particularly fast vessel, and many of its counterparts can outrun it.
  • Low Maneuverability: The Coronet is not particularly maneuverable compared to many of its counterparts either.
DESCRIPTION
Ostensibly seeking to get into the lucrative defense fleet market, CorelliSpace made their first star destroyer by basically enlarging the existing Venator and incorporating design elements of the aged Victory I Star Destroyer and Imperial Star Destroyer into it. While not a particularly inspiring or revolutionary design, the Coronet is actually a fairly effective design for the sector-level governments it was designed to be sold to. Simple but heavy defenses are both cost-effective and practical for most of their foes, while its large complement of small craft and troops can be easily tailored to a multitude of different needs and organizations. The use of well-proven automation further cuts down on operating costs for these organizations, making it an attractive choice in those areas of the galaxy which are more remote and peaceful. Its perhaps most unusual feature is its choice in weaponry, using a large number of smaller weapons to provide a focus on large volume of fire rather than on a select few heavy weapons. This makes the Coronet very adept at efficiently handling fleets composed of many smaller warships, a likelihood more and more common in the Outer Rim where groups of pirates and other criminals sometimes band together to make daring raids on well-protected by otherwise highly profitable targets. As with many other CorelliSpace products, a sizeable number of these have somehow been found in the employ of criminal elements. A few notable pirate leaders have used a Coronet as their flagship at one point or another, albeit these ships are often highly modified from their stock form.
