Classification: Business building
Location: Coruscant Underworld
Affiliation: Publicly funded by the Coruscant Rotary Club and The Cream and the Crop Casino
Description: Nestled deep in the darkness of the Coruscant underworld, the Coruscant Enrichment Center (CEC) is a glowing beacon of hope amidst trials and tribulations. Standing as a multi-storied facility, the building is divided into multiple sections. This includes:
ASPIRE Welcome Center:
The welcome center is the initial hub of the enrichment center, donned by a modern elegance of blanched whites and glossy tiling. The center serves beverages for those waiting as well as snacks and candy. Numerous brochures are provided for the importance of enrichment along with multiple maps that detail the overall development of the Enrichment center as well as navigation. The center also serves to highlight local works of art for local artists, commissioning the sale to those willing to pay the price. Otherwise, the art serves as a modicum of elegance in a darkened world.
The interest and acuity testing center:
An official testing center to determine the skills and capabilities of those looking for offworld employment. The center is equipped with state of the art testing equipment, including standard gym gear, a pool, and body fat scales. Along with that, it includes mental and proficiency tests that help to determine intelligence and technical acuity, as well as potential for future diagnosis of mental illness. This location gives the appearance of an upgraded development center for working out. However, it is used to both determine potential for entrance into sentient trafficking as well as need for employment within the CFFC.
The Travel and Expense Suite:
Arguably one of the more attractive portions of the facility, the travel and expense suite boasts an assortment of amenities including beverages and food. The purpose, once the acuity and interest of the traveler has been determined, they are matched with an agent. Through a discerning process, the agent helps to determine potential locales for future employment offworld. Typically, this will retain placement within the sector, though with the proper persuasion and investor backing, the sky is truly the limit. Along with this, employees have access to this transit system which provides a means for discounted travel for vacations and such.
The Travel Center is used for massed planning transit for slaves and sentient trafficking. Typically, the CFFC likes to shuttle slaves to particular sectors together, in order to save fuel.
The Long Term Planning Center:
The dark heart of the facility, the long term planning center accommodates the interest of investors to compare profit margins against expense of the facade. What this means is that within the specific divisions, the margin between cost of shipping select individuals offworld for legitimate work is compared to the profit of the slave industry being born from the enrichment facility. Through this analysis, considerable efforts are made to improve the overall profit of the facility, which ties into both the production of drugs and the selling of manual labor or servants of darker purposes. Efforts can include increased advertisements, development of faux scholarships, increased outreach, etc.
The Sentient Resource Suite:
Standard sentient resource division devoted to maintaining the notion of legitimacy in the enrichment center. Tax forms, environmental regulations, shipping regulations, etc. For all intents and purposes, the sentient resource suite helps maintain the prosperity between business and government. Along with that, this division is responsible for the wages and added benefits associated with employment in the enrichment center. Both of which are substantial and funded by proceeds from the CFFC and The Cream and the Crop Casino.
Holonet/communications/networking hub (included digital media center):
One of the most important components of the facility is the facade of helping the world around it, which it does. This division is responsible for that image as well as correspondence between offworld workers and their parents or benefactors. Along with this, this division is responsible for buying off parents or benefactors, should the facade fail, and is responsible keep tabs on potential and past buyers. Should bribing not be possible, enforcers are also used to deal with the issue, should it come to that.
Temporary Imprisonment Center (underground):
Once an participant is found to fill a certain niche, they are sent off world at the behest of their parents or benefactors. At this time, should they not be fortunate to actually be selected for work, they are detained in a imprisonment center until time for shipping them to their new owners. Very little is provided here, in terms of luxury.
Landing Pads, Turbo Lifts, Security, Tunnels:
All levels of building are attached to multiple turbolifts. These are capable of accessing other portions of the building, given appropriate key code access. Key codes are given on a bi weekly basis and are tied directly to retinal, dna, and fingerprint scans. Despite the jovial appearance of the building, it is extremely difficult to access restricted locations such as the imprisonment center, without the proper credentials. Each level has an array of defenses, including 360 degree camera systems, automated turrets, and a defense force. However, those of the security force are often unseen unless instigated. In most cases, fatal means are not used in light of the need for more slaves. You break it, someone might buy you.
Landing pads are located on the roof and accessible via turbolifts and emergency stair access. Beneath the building, the turbolifts draw into the sewer system, which through maze like construction, is assimilated into the CFFC infrastructure as a means for escape and underground transit between the different holdings. This includes the morgue, tourist center, casino, and flower shops.
History: The building was developed using funding from the Cream and the Crop Casino, funneled and labeled as community outreach and development. After the formation of the Coruscant Flower and Funeral Company, the Coruscant Rotary club realized that they needed additional methods of obtainment for the slave trade. It was through this purpose that the structure was built to be deceptively inviting, for the most part. Roughly six out of every ten applicants are provided a means for legal employment either in the numerous holding of the CFFC or off world, typically in either labor or agriculture. This is subject to change based on profit margins. For those that test into a specific niche, they are held captive in preparation for departure and the beginning of their new life as a slave or worse.
The history pertains explicitly to the increase demand for sentient trafficking. This can either involve strictly slavery or be more devious, including specimens needed for drug testing or for sport. However, with all proceeds, the CEC stretches it's hand deeper into the community, helping to promote the original illusion of improving the community around it. It does this through building of playgrounds, libraries, increased import of goods for basic sentient needs, and development of scholarships for select individuals. Often times, these individuals will go on to be employed by the CFFC or one of it's other potential holdings.
The CEC is a boon to the community around it, despite it's nefarious deeds. Along with outreach, it provides an awesome level of experience and employment, providing a means for the lucky to better themselves in a meaningful way. The CEC provides paid internships and benefits include immediate healthcare that extends to immediate family, employer supplemented insurance, employer supplemented retirement, and drug assistance for those who have become addicted to the numerous vices of Coruscant. That being said, their is a clear delineation in employees: some are aware of the actual purpose of the CEC, some are not. It's a matter of trust and not all of those employed in the building are aware of the actual mission of the group.
