Theoretically yes, but... why would you want to do that? For an errant Shard that'd be akin to imprisonment. Besides, if it's anything like the other living crystals you'll get lobotomized or some such. xD

Most likely, yes. However, the shard would also probably be in a constant state of pain, which if you are a Dark Sider would be a nice source of agony to feed off of.
