[SIZE=9pt]A little surprise: Everyone always looks at the primary to be a threat, to be the one who would be the most dangerous. The Regalia seeks to use this expectation to the wearer’s advantage, providing them with a variety of exotic close range weapons to use as a last resort.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=9pt]Fabulous darling: The Regalia is first and foremost a jewellery set that looks spectacular.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=9pt]Limited shots: While the engineers at Locke and Key made the rings as powerful as they could, that came at a cost. Each ring only had a few shots, and no way to reload it in the field. Once expended the ring would have to be turned over to a trained technician for the power cell to be reloaded.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=9pt]Too Hot, Too Chilly: As with the rings, certain shortcuts had to be taken to miniaturize a personal shield. The engineers decided to focus on the most common threats, at the cost of other defences. The shield provided no environmental or EMP protection, like the weapons, the shields were designed as a last resort to protect the wearer.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=9pt]Hackable: Although care was taken with security, it isn’t perfect, and the link to the CIS database can be hacked into if someone is given enough time or if they’re skilled enough.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=9pt]Power: Given the limited size of the Regalia, the various active functions only have a limited power supply. The rings only have 5 shots before they’re drained, while the shield can only be active for 15 minutes at a time before the capacitors need to recharge.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=9pt]All the way over there: Unless you’re actually wearing it, the Regalia is useless, and as such, simply having it removed from your person would be enough to render it’s functionality useless.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=9pt]In a meeting, in any function all eyes are on the heads of state, the big names who are seen to drive policy and changes, to be the focal point of a meeting or reception. However, behind them, the actual work of making the function work, of making sure that the big names look good and don’t fail are their aides and counsellors. The ones who really get work done, who grease the wheels to make sure that no issues make their primary look bad. [/SIZE]
[SIZE=9pt]How best to do that, how best to support their endeavours was the question posed to Locke and Key Mechanics when designing the Regalia. They broke this down into a few important functions that any aide or counsellor had to perform. [/SIZE]
[SIZE=9pt]Information - It is impossible for anyone to know everything, but the ability to access required information, whether it was the identity of a guest at a party, or the latest invasion plans. Thanks to the quantum entanglement communications link to the CIS database, all the information of the CIS is available at your fingertips...or around your neck as it were.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=9pt]Survival - It’s inevitable that eventually you’re going to run into a situation where you end up in a fight or a hostage situation. The state of the galaxy is such that even the most pacifistic individual will get drawn into a situation where they come under attack. The Regalia was designed to help in those situations as well, able to generate a personal shield for 15 minutes, enough time to get out of immediate danger before the shield needs to recharge, a process that can take another 20 minutes. [SIZE=9pt]Get out of there - When everything goes pearshaped it’s generally a good idea to get out of there and make your way to safety. The engineers designing the Regalia also included a few more exotic weapons to act as a surprise for anyone who might get in the way.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=9pt]Communication - You never know what might change, or who might need to get in touch with you. To that end the Regalia comes equipped with Locke and Key’s signature Hermes communications system, allowing you to keep in touch no matter where you go without having to carry a full commlink. [/SIZE]
