Covert Insertions Are Cold And Wet ;)

I'd been holding off on any more heists recently but it was time to go and make off with some things. I had Crosswire aboard the Dauntless and we were headed to a temple the one I'd gotten my sabers from. Last time I'd been here I'd assumed this place was Mandalore based on the charts I'd been given, now I knew it to be a part of the Mandalore sector the planet Krownest known terrain was forests and mountains the temperature was frigid. Our goal was to abscond with as many of the artifacts and as much weaponry as we could, last time I'd been here I'd briefly worked with a commando to clear out the rather aggressive inhabitants. It'd still been abandoned but now scans showed there were in fact people down around and inside the temple....we'd have to keep things quiet then....

Speaking into the comms I said "Crosswire grab your gear, you'll need your armor we're going to be doing a covert combat drop. There are some people about and we'll need to keep kills silent. Meet me by the cargo bay for the jump." I had the sense I'd be needing to be using a gift from an old friend in the form of her Verpine sniper rifle. Tapping some controls in the cockpit I put The Dauntless into cloaking and engaged sensor jammers. Setting the Dauntless to some pre-arranged coordinates I engaged the autopilot then grabbed my gear and headed to the cargo bay. Pulling on my helmet the HUD system flicked to life and a ghostly blue flicked to life on the outer shell. The HUD began a sensor sweep of the ground below and then began priming my weapons. This was where the fun began.......

After hearing Andrroeths warning, I quickly close my data pad, and grabbing my payload kit for stealth. Ducking firewalls and avoiding cameras are key here. I fit a few computer spikes onto my EVA suit before fitting on my helmet, grabbing my sword knife and running to the armory. I grab a sub machine gun for tight situations just in case. Light ammo means light movement, but decent take down power.

I set the sling of the sub machine gun over my shoulder supplying a decent number of mags on my vest, including some special rounds in the occasion any tech needs a hard reboot from a distance... I would say I'm good to go.

I get myself ready on the doc with Andorreth. "Any life readings?" I ask as my own suits HUD begins its POST boot sequence. I've Jerryrigged my neural implant to interface with the helmet of my EVA suit, allowing me full control even when not interfacing with the touch pads or wrist pad. I ready my smg, mounted with a silencer.

Looking towards Crosswire I spoke over the helmet comms. "Plenty of life signs but only around five around the outside edge, sentries most likely. Odds are the rest are patrolling the inside of the temple itself so if we do end up needing to drop bodies we'll need to do so quietly." The Dauntless was coming in at speed for a fast covert infil but it wasn't going to stop. Hitting the cargo bay door controls I watched as the bay doors opened and looked at Crosswire. Walking to the edge as the doors opened I ticked down on my right hand 5,4, 3,2,1...then I simply walked off the edge and turned so I could face the surface. Engaging my sound dampening stealth unit through my HUD as I fell I used the air vents along my armor to begin braking. If the sentries below had heat sensors they'd pick up the micro thrusters.... I'd done enough jumps to where I could be sure I'd slowed enough to hit the snow at a slide.

Mentally counting down 3,2,1 I braced and slid with the snow as I hit ground. I'd tagged the targets from air with my HUD and as Crosswire was likely behind me I sent the locations to his HUD display. Pulling my Verpine rifle I check the chamber to ensure there's one inside then eject the mag to tap it out before popping it back in. Odds were the two closest sentries would never even know a shot was fired....thing was Verpine rifles used magnetic coils to accelerate the projectile at sub-sonic speeds as it was I currently had loaded in armor piercing rounds. The two sentries wouldn't ever know what or who had killed them.....

I follow in Andorreths foot- er... Air steps? Whatever. I follow his motions, but not before extending the blade to full katana length, and attaching the blade magnetically to my back. I survey the area, pulling up my weapon and scanning my side of the field, whispering over comms. "Clear my side. Take point and I'll watch our six." I pull up our HUD, tagging Andorreth's signal through my friend or foe system. Better safe than sorry. I'd rather my story not end walking backwards off a cliff somehow.

As Crosswire landed I heard him say "Clear my side. Take point and I'll watch our six." I'd already started moving along the cliff face when my HUD recognized another target coming towards us. Osik....moving smoothly along the cliff face I ejected the hooked blades on my right forearm plate and hooked them into an icy wall to anchor myself. Then the sentry's footsteps crunched along the ice and as he came around the corner and saw Crosswire I disengaged the stealth field unit flashing into view. Before he could register it I'd ejected the hidden blade on my left gauntlet and rammed it up through his throat twisting as I did first severing the vocal cords before jerking it to the left cutting his jugular.

Then I simply kicked him off the edge of the cliff, speaking into the helmet comm I said "If you have to stab throat, twist it severs the vocal cords. You picking up any comm chatter Crosswire? There weren't any guards here last time but odds are there's some reason for the presence of all the manpower." The view was incredible and my HUD flicked to life signalling one of the sentries coming along a turn on an opposing cliffside. Raising my Verpine sniper rifle I magnetically locked it against my left forearm plate and braced against my right armpit I tied the scope into my HUD then sighted in on the sentry on the opposing cliff side. Breathing in then exhaling I pulled the trigger smoothly. The pellet accelerated at subsonic speed and went through the targets' head splattering crimson mist and brain matter along the mountain side. Ejecting the mag and holding it firmly I pulled the slide back and loaded a two stage explosive round in the chamber before racking the slide.

The round was keyed to detonate with close radio signal. When the next sentry came by and began to call on the radio the round would blow and cause an avalanche burying the bodies it'd seem a natural accident. Looking forward I spoke over the comms and said "we're going to circle around to the side of the temple. Then make a covert ingress through the water filtration system to the temple innards. You good to go?"

Watching the tango fall to his death I can't help but shake my head rolling my eyes. Showy as allways. "Cool it special agent. I don't need you falling to your death too. To answer your question, comms are quiet, however I wouldn't expect that to stay that way long. Given their chatting it sounds like theres a patrol out here. And given the engine noise of our entry, I'd expect them to come this way. Make that look like an accident would be my recommendation. Get rid of any blood you can, and-" gets cut off by the click of his weapon and shake my head a bit. So much for stealth. Hope those rounds are as good as the money used to buy them. ".... Never mind, I'll take care of it, And we can keep moving. Quietly." I slip a mag into my smg and rack a round into the chamber to give myself a free pouch. I kneel down and wipe up the blood off the ice and surrounding area, dying my rag a bright red before stuffing it into the pouch. "Ready when you are."

"They're silent and well worth it, plus I din't pay for them. I stole several crates of them..." Moving out into the storm I stayed close to the edge of the crevice as we neared the descent points, my HUD flared up with a squad of four. Well osik... Ejecting blades from my boots and forearm gauntlets I dropped to a knee and jerked my left forearm gauntlet into the ice as an anchor before launching my cable line into the ice. Looking towards Crosswire I said "We're gonna need to descend now. A four man squad is headed this way and we're at a point where we'll have to do a bit of climbing to get towards our entry point. Climbing claws for the descent and a line in the ice wall." Ensuring the line was securely set I kicked the toe of my right boot into the ice and removed my left forearm blade from the ice and began the descent rappelling down the side of the ice face.

Kicking my boot blades into the ice face to stop my descent I waited for Crosswire to reach me before I began moving to the left on the cliff face. We were moving towards the waste water filtration tubes to make an infiltration through the water ways into the temple. We'd be doing the infiltration through the tubes and wait until the water cycled out before opening the tubes and infiltrating the temple. As we moved adn the sqaud was approaching our previous position I got a blip of radio contact on the opposite cliffside and then a micro-explosion burying bodies and evidence. I had a thing for dramatics, but if it looked natural well.... at least they'd be drawn elsewhere for the time being.

I stand there watching him prep, following along, watching my footwork, engaging the grips on the bottoms of my boots originally intended for grip while asteroid mining, I follow andorreth to the tubes, doing my best to not look down. "Guess it's a good thing I decided to sober up for this mission eh?" I say sarcastically, watching as we near the tubes, scanning for life signs and electrical signs. "I'll see if I can work on a way to tap into their CCTV systems while we make our way through the tunnels. Hopefully they've some wire ran through here."

Once we reach the tunnels I set my smg back onto my magnetized holster on my hip. I draw my focus to my wrist pad, initiating a scan of the tunnels, setting it at a low enough frequency to reach a long distance but bypass any detection system.

Let stealth guide our feet.

We'd made our way down into the tunnels and the temperature down here was warmer, the heating elements of the temple above us had been activated recently to keep it warm enough to work without a full suit. Sloppy, just sloppy....Reaching the place I'd entered before I looked over the panel I'd jury-rigged the last time I'd been here. Sparking two wires together I saw the countdown for the water flush and it was at thirty seconds. Watching as it ticked down I prepared to enter the tube. Looking at Crosswire I said "Fifteen seconds, once the water cycles through we'll have one minute to make it to the infiltration point in the water processing portion of the temple. Magnetized boots as we go and we'll be enabling the re-breathers because we may need to stay in the tube longer if patrols come through."

We were at ten seconds now and I enabled the rebreather. I had an idea of what was going on here, heavily armed sentries, the temples' systems back up and clearly mercs were at work here. This was likely a staging ground fro some kind of either business, or the mercs were planning something. The countdown zeroed out and I entered the tube and began moving to the infiltration point as Crosswire entered the tube behind me. This, this was where I excelled. Infiltration and wetwork it'd been a long time since I'd used these skills....
