Credits and Contracts (Ession Reformation)

The Reformation needed corporate allies. While it had sustained itself thus far without much issue, the cost of building an army was just too high to do alone. Outsourcing was not only desirable, but a necessity. Graxin was going to make sure such corporations held as much sway as they were worth; they would never rule worlds, nor would they control any elements of the government. There was simply no possible way for the corporations to gain that kind of power.

Using them in an alliance of mutual benefit was, however, perfectly fine. So long as the corporations provided what was needed, be it satellites, starships, or medical supplies, they would be allowed to thrive in Reformation space. Graxin Rade, now the newly named Archlord, sat in his office awaiting the head of one such corporation.

He steeled himself for this little interview. It was new to the Knight, something he had never been put into a position to deal with. He was barely diplomatic at any rate, let alone some kind of business mastermind. Still, as the head of state, he was in place to decide what route the Reformation might take next in its growth. This would be the first of many steps down the road to expansion and success.

He steeped his fingers over his wooden desk, and stared out at the bright morning sky of Ession through the small window in his officer. The office itself had been built at the top of the Grand Temple to allow easy access for Jedi and Governors alike.

"There is no emotion, there is peace." He recited to himself. The age old mantra served to calm Graxin, for the moment anyway. He centered his gaze on the door....and waited.

It had taken awhile, but Xander was finally starting to fall into the job that his deadbeat father had left for him. When the young man originally discovered he was a rich, albeit illegitimate, son of Zev Stargo he had all but completely rejected the notion. He wanted nothing to do with his father's legacy. What kind of man contacts his son for the first time after he was already dead? The answer was obviously the kind of men like Zev. If he was still alive, Xander probably would have beat him to death himself.

Despite this heavily obstructed start, Xander had begun to lighten up to his role as the new CEO of the company. He had even hired a few more specialists to help him ease into it and today would be the first time that he had ever marched into a meeting by himself. It would also be, if The Force was willing, the first time that Stargo Enterpirses had signed an exclusive contract with a faction. Guns, droids, ships, vehicles and more would all be given to the Ession Reformation; that included every piece of mechanical engineering ever produced by Stargo Enterprises. There was a wealth of technology that all had been considered "under loan" to the CIS without an exclusive contract ever have been signed. That meant there were no legal bars keeping the company from simply switching over their assets to the Ession Reformation.

In all likelihood, the company would not raise a fuss over the vehicles already owned by the CIS; now known as the System's Authority. However, that didn't mean they had to supply parts or more replicas to them either. Some of the board of directors thought it was a hasty move to break off connections with the former CIS, but Xander could see it was dying cause. After the coup, the government had seen loss after loss and they simply weren't worth the continued business. After all, Xander was a businessman now and that meant he had no time for games of loyalty.

The doors to Graxin's office slid open and the young CEO laid eyes on the man for the first time. He was different than what Xander had expected him to be. When he thought "Jedi Archlord" he imagined some old man who could barely hold his own teeth in while he ate. Graxin was nothing of the sort, in fact, he may have been Xander's age. "Archlord, Rade?" Xander questioned as he moved into the office and stood before the man's desk.

"I'm Xander Corbal, I hear that your looking for a bad-ass fleet" the young man smiled crookedly

The Archlord rumbled a quiet laugh. If there was one thing he valued above all other personality traits, it was a sense of humor. A sense of humor put people into the right mindset. A sense of humor defused unwanted tension. A sense of humor helped to establish relations between groups--in short, it was something the Knight felt everyone absolutely needed. He held a hand forward to shake.

"A pleasure, Mister Corbal. I've looked over the contract your company presented, and I admit that I'm tempted to sign it. The Confederacy put your kit to very good use...use the Reformation might need later down the road." The Knight began. It was true. The Confederacy, while faulty, had employed some of the best tech in the known galaxy. Graxin would be a fool to refuse their former suppliers. He offered the younger man a small smile, albeit a warm one, and steeped his fingers as he met the CEO's gaze.

"Inform me as to what your plan was involving the Reformation, Mister Corbal. I've read the reports, but I'd like to hear it from the man in charge myself, if you don't mind."

Well that went well, at least the man didn't have a stick up his ass. Xander returned the smile and shook the man's hand, taking a seat as he did so. What came next was less-than-appealing to Xander's polite side. Graxin was musing over the "good use" that the CIS had put the company's technology to. That technology was, as far as Xander was concerned, a relic of his father and something he had loathed to an extent that some would find unnatural. Most people hated their worst enemies less than Xander hated those machines of old, a childish way to express his distaste for his father.

"Inform me as to what your plan was involving the Reformation, Mister Corbal. I've read the reports, but I'd like to hear it from the man in charge myself, if you don't mind."

Oh great, that sounded awfully close to "why are you doing this?" Xander couldn't exactly say it was partly a business move and partly a way to piss his dad off even beyond his grave.

"Well" Xander took a brief pause, throwing a leg up on his thigh to buy him a split second of thinking time. "Plainly, the CIS has become worthless in the way of being business partners." the boy chimed almost too casually, "After their coup, they couldn't seem to 'put our technology to good use" any longer. At this rate I doubt there will be a faction left to use our materials. Its time for our assets to move on, seek more permanent contracts."

"The Ession seem like a logical place to start. You have willing soldiers and a need for good technology, that's something I value. The only thing I love more than seeing the company make good tech, is seeing good soldiers blow things up with that tech." this was probably on the verge of being marked down as the least formal business meeting to take place in the galaxy. "The CIS and Stargo's company never shared any exclusive contracts, not on paper anyway. Everything we gave to them was considered to be on loan but we still maintain the rights to sell to whoever we wish. If the Ession so desires, I'm willing to give your government an exclusive contract to all Stargo Enterprise technologies previously loaned to the CIS. Of course, this very high-level technology we are dealing with and so I and my board of directors have come up with a few ways to help your government afford the expenses that would be mutually beneficial."

It came down to whether the Reformation wanted Xander's tech or not. The kid seemed nice enough, but would he deliver? Graxin waited patiently as the business man spoke, arms folded over his chest, blow raised in curiosity. He even leaned forward a tad, and offered a small smile. His arms fell down to rest on the table.

"I can appreciate your reasoning. Business is pointless if no one continues to buy the product. That product needs to be used in the first place for further sales." The Knight mused aloud. If he played his cards right, this might actually come out to benefit the Reformation. Unlike his counterpart however, he had little more to say. He wasn't the one trying to make the sale here anyway.

"Feel free to inform me as to these benefits. I can say that an exclusive contract sounds like the correct route to take. I'm a jealous buyer, I'm afraid."

"The benefits of an exclusive contract with Stargo's Company are larger than you could afford to pass up." Xander pointed out, "The technology I'm offering you is arguably the best available on the market today. Stargo Enterprises doesn't limit itself to one type of destruction, we like to spread the pain around. Ships, armor, firearms, vehicles and of course some of the most advanced droid units ever created. Our droids and vehicles are still made in the Geonosian factories to this day and I don't have to tell you that those bugs are some of the best droid manufacturers in the galaxy."

Xander wasn't a practiced salesman, but he was confident that this meeting was going well in his favor. "Again, the droid armies and ships we have available for you are not by any means cheap. The CIS paid good money for the product they bought and I'm aware that your government isn't going to be able to pay this amount; not at first anyway. That is why I have brought a contract with me that will allow you to buy previous CIS tech at twenty percent above cost, more than a fifty-percent discount on what we charged the CIS. The only catch is that your government gives Stargo Enterprises the exclusive rights to build factories on any planet of our choosing within your sphere of influence. Your engineers and workforce assist us in building shipyards and factories on your planets and that will cut down even more on your cost as we will be able to chop down shipping over fifty-percent as well."

"That means, even when we sign contracts for original, exclusive and undiscounted technologies that you will still save on shipping costs. Think about it, when the CIS has drawn its final breath the Ession Reformation could be in possession of the most technologically advanced droid army in the galaxy, backed by exclusive ship contracts. You will have everything you need to do...whatever it is you plan on doing with Stargo's technology."

A droid army for the Reformation. Now that was something. It would certainly save the lives of those few Peacekeepers the Reformation had. The droid armies had proven themselves more than successful fighting against the Confederacy's enemies, and combined with the Graug forces under Graxin's control...well, the opportunity was too damned good to pass up.

The only issue was Xander's desire to choose any world to build upon.

"Ession is a prime world for your corporations and factories. The majority of our surface is industrial, and it will spread to each of our worlds once we take them." He explained. Graxin only needed a moment's thought to continue. Keeping Stargo under the Reformation's thumb would keep away the galaxy's biggest droid manufacturer from the other major faction. "Otherwise, I believe we've reached some sort of an accord. You will be allowed to choose a world to build upon and supply our armies with droids, vehicles, and other kit for our soldiers. In return, your business dealing will be exclusive with the Ession Reformation...are we agreed?"

"Well I am a businessman" Xander concluded, reaching into his inside jacket pocket and retrieving a contract from within its confines. "I guarantee you that ships and droids we make for you will be exclusively for your use" The young man placed the contract before Graxin and procured a pen from the desk and extended it toward the man, "but i'm afraid you can't afford all of our attention. Not yet anyway."

So Stargo would not be an session exclusive? That changed the game quite a bit. Then again, if Ession had exclusivity to the droids and ships, what did it really matter? Stargo should be free to sell it's smaller wares to whoever had the credits; restricting that was a sign of hubris, and something Graxin would not stand for.

"The droids and ships are all I care about. So long as those and their blueprints remain out of the public's hands, I'm pleased." He skimmed over the contract, eyes narrowed as he peered for any signs of malcontent. Seeing that the contract was utterly sincere, Graxin took the pen, and breathed a quiet sigh.

"We may call on you for other services as well in the future." Graxin signed the contract, and leveled his gaze with the young man's. "A pleasure doing business with you."

Xander smiled, taking the contract firmly into his grasp and extending his hand once again. "The pleasure was mine" Xander retorted. This felt good, making his first sale; he could get used to it. Now that Stargo Enterprises had a solid contract, they could really begin to expand.
