- Weapon Hardpoints - The Starfighter is designed with a series of hardpoints which provide the option of rapidly exchanging the starfighter's weapons for the mission at hand or as needed. This allows for an entire squadron of these Starfighters to be fitted for a myriad of roles from Support, to Bomber, to Superiority Fighter.
- Two Individual Crew - The controls of the Starfighter are separated into two stations, the Pilot, and the Gunner. This allows the pilot to remain focused on flying, while the gunner can focus on targeting and firing the weapon systems.
- ECM Suite - Due to the vessel's lack of shielding; it relies on heavy armor plating as well as a sophisticated ECM Suite to assist in fooling enemy smart weapons launched against the starfighter.
- Atmospheric Flight Capable - These vessels are capable of entering and flying in a planet's atmosphere without much difficulty.
- No Shielding - Much like the TIE/Ln line of Starfighters; the Crescent Starfighters lack any kind of shielding, relying predominately on its speed for protection.
- S-Foil Wing System - Designed with a similar S-Foil System as the X-Wing; however, the system is only utilized when storing the starfighter to provide for additional room. The section that this system resides in - though reinforced with additional armor - is still a structural weak point. A blast to the area has the potential of steering off the wing, removing it and any weapon systems along with the wing itself.
- Separated Controls - Due to the design of the vessel, there is no way for the pilot to control the weapons; nor for the gunner to control the starfighter. The pilot would be incapable of firing the weapon systems were the gunner killed or incapacitated, and vice versa.
The Crescent II class Starfighter takes many of its design features from the TIE/Ln, predominately its reliance on speed and maneuverability over the utilization of Shields to protect the crew that pilots the craft. Likewise, it incorporates an S-Foil System similar to those seen on the X-Wing and Arc 170 Starfighters; however, this is one of its more glaring weaknesses. The S-Foil system itself is only ever utilized to fold the wings down into a storage position, allowing for more Crescent Starfighters to be stored in a vessel. During an engagement - though the areas are reinforced with additional armor plating - it is still possible for the S-Foil system to be damaged or otherwise destroyed. In the former case, the vessel would be incapable of being stored properly, whereas, in the latter instance, the wing has the potential of being shorn off along with the weapon systems on that wing.
Another drawback of these vessels is the simple fact that while the controls are separated to allow for the Pilot to focus on flying and the Gunner to focus on fighting - there is no means for either position to control the other. Thus, if the gunner were to be killed or incapacitated, the Pilot would be incapable of operating the weapon systems, and vice versa. However, the Crescent Starfighter's most unique feature is its Weapon Hardpoint system - a series of mounting brackets that provide the option to rapidly exchange between a series of weapons for the mission at hand. Thus an entire Squadron of these Starfighters has the potential of filling in a gap or role that would otherwise be filled in by a separate starfighter or bomber.
As a means to compensate for its lack of proper shielding, the Starfighter is equipped with a sophisticated Electronic Counter Measure Suite to assist in confusing the sensors and scanners of enemy smart munitions that may be launched against the vessel. Another unique feature comes from the externally mounted speakers, which are often utilized during an atmospheric flight to provide commands, send out messages, or otherwise attempt to intimidate an enemy force by producing a loud screeching noise when diving on a target.
