Problem Child
Her hand returned red, not a spot of tan skin visible. That was bad.
With a slight slouch to her posture, fingers corded through matted, blood soaked hair. That was very bad.
The girl stumbled through an alley, hand clasped to a spot on her sternum as crimson dripped through the gaps. Grounded by a clenched jaw, she forced her feet in some sort of configuration forward as if tracking through mud. From behind her, distant shouts grew in volume.
Stupid.
Even without all the Jedi training she should've been able to avoid this. It's true her mind had been elsewhere since her encounter with Sinestra, but that was hardly any comfort. There was another thought too, that maybe she deserved this. To die at the hands of some underworld scum all because a stupid mid-tier job fell through.
Her foot caught on a rogue beer can and sent her straight to the ground. With a growl, she righted herself, back pressed against the side of the alley, and tried to muster the strength to stand.
Except now she couldn't.
Her vision freckled and strained from all the blood loss, hardly allowing for the coordination she wanted from her body. Each passing second she could feel wisps of consciousness slowly giving out.
Dammit.
Her vision went black.
