Cross-Faction Training Program

Gilamar Skirata

The most important step is always the next one
As the Republic and Mandalorians become closer and closer allies with the threat of the Sith looming over both of them, I thought it would be fun to have a few General-like characters (and Admirals too) to meet up with Mandalorian military leadership where we discuss cross-training programs.

Mandalorian Military leaders teach Republic grunts how to fight like Mandalorians and Republic Officers go over strategy and Naval tactics or something along those lines.

[member="Gilamar Skirata"] I love this idea. However, the Republic Army is at its least active as can be right now. The Navy is far more active, but I am looking to turn that around quickly as this event winds down. This is a solid idea, but we'll need some time to facilitate activity among the NFU members.

Depending on the timing, either Nyx here or Svarin would be very interested in working with some Mandalorians. I mention timing because I'm 90% sure that Nyx is getting paddy-napped (I can say that because she officially holds the title of Padawan still, even if she has Knight-rank powers) in the Cularin thread. Rin will be available whether or not that happens.

I noticed that the thread is captioned as being Republic NFUs and Mandalorians. Would Nyx still be allowed to participate (despite her force sensitive nature)? Just wanted to be sure about that.
As a note: Up until recently, Nyx has barely used her powers, preferring to rely on her general skills (because who knows when the force could go wonky?). The first time she actually used the force in combat (knowingly, that is) is when a Sith Knight attacked her on Cularin.
How exactly did I get promoted to Knight?

I was thinking I needed to change the title to Military. Its not really a thread for Jedi but more the grunts, boots on the ground pew pew people.

So if you don't wave around a molten glowstick in battle and use that Space magic to crush boulders I don't see why not :)

Sounds good. I'll try to get Nyx into the thread when I can (though I'm on a half LOA due to RL being a lil schutta). She's not exactly a grunt, but she spent 4+ years locked away and drugged.
Most of her skills are a little rusty.

I just want to mention this, that the Republic itself is attempting to increase activity with the NFU side of things, and as such, there will no longer be Jedi "soldiers" in the military. IE: No more Jedi Admirals, or Generals, or having any type of military rank or status.

That being said, FU's or Jedi are welcome to train their skills, but without the aide of the Force or their glowsticks. Cooperative missions & such are of course fine, but we want to keep a noticeable separation between the Republic's military & the Jedi Order.

Hmm. Makes sense, though I'm wondering what's gonna happen with Nyx. She's been a military woman since the creation of her character (and during 85% of her IC lifespan). There's only been 4 or 5 IC months where she's even been aware of her force sensitivity*. Wasn't even introduced into the Order because of that at first. She was just gettin the Sith poison sucked (not literally) out of her veins.
*seriously, how was I promoted to Knight?...

I guess her main military position will still be with the Protectorate (where she's worked for awhile), though she'll be living with the Order (unless Vrag does, indeed, paddy-nap her), and whatnot.

In the meantime I just might have to make a NFU Republic alt...

Situations like these are tricky. As a blanket statement I would ask that anyone who is an active Jedi rescind their role in the military.

While the Jedi serve the Republic they do not actively involve themselves unless otherwise asked to. This would conflict with the Republic military and the Jedi views overall. There are always different cases as obviously not everyone has the same views as to what the Order is/is not and should/should not be. But this is the stance I am taking due to recent issues with Jedi controlling the military.

Because we are actively trying to both separate the Republic & Jedi Order to two entities under one roof like they are in canon, rather than one, to display that the Republic is more than just Jedi on the board, and to increase our NFU activity, this was a necessary shift. So while I am OK with Jedi and Force users joining the military for training exercises and missions, I would ask that they not consider themselves active military personnel, nor shall they hold rank or status in the military.

Then consider Nyx part of the Jedi Order, but not part of the Republic military. Now I have a legitimate excuse to make that NFU I was thinking about :D
Though Nyx does still, of course, hold a minor rank in the Protectorate, where she's 'from' (AKA where she went after her 4 year coma).
