TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification:
    • Integrated Energy Shield
  • Weight:
    • Light
  • Resistances:
The strengths of this shield lay in having an overwhelmingly effective line of defense which is able to stand up to some of the heaviest ordinance in its respective classes, however only in a limited amount. Strong singular hits which are typically armour or shield piercing will find it difficult to be effective against this particular shield. However, rapid fire weapons which are typically less effective against energy shields are far more punishing to the C.R.O.S.S.
    • Energy: Very High
    • Kinetic: Very High
    • Explosive: Very High
    • Lightsabers: High
    • Emp / Ion: low
    • Disruptor: Low
    • Sonic: Very Low
    • Environment: None
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Hybrid Shielding:
The CROSS uses both Ray Shield and Particle Shield components to provide maximum effectiveness to those who use it.
  • Impact Pulse:
The CROSS when impacted detonates a charge to counter the resonant force of an impact, protecting the surrounding material at the cost of itself. This shield uses a layered mesh of smaller, unstable shields which let out a mono-directional explosion of energy when impacted by force or energy. Allowing them to protect against much larger impacts than some other shields.
  • Overload Safe:
The integrated high quality materials within the CROSS ensure that while an Ion Blast or intense damage would certainly break the shielding of these shield, but seldom will they overload the circuits due to their insulation and high quality surge protectors.
  • Regenerating:
This shield is capable of regenerating its layers as they are destroyed, creating additional layers over time but draining battery.
  • Versatile Implementation:
The CROSS is able to be installed in personal armour as a front facing monodirectional shield, or an omnidirectional shield for Vehicles, Fighters, Cruisers and even capitol class ships.
  • Diagnostic Array:
The CROSS is able to connect to most standard Heads up Displays integrated into armour or into the displays of most ships terminals. Diagnostic Some of the subjects of the array include; structural integrity, energy bleed, how many shield layers are active / in reserve and predictive rate of loss of shield layers.
STRENGTHS
  • Reactive Shield:
This shield, rather than diffusing the damage from an attack across a wide surface, instead presents a false surface for an object to hit. The unique hexagonal lattice of the shield consists of many tightly packed overlapping sheets of stored energy held together via an energy field. When a projectile or object hits one of the shield's plates at sufficient velocity the unstable energy goes critical, exploding away from the flat plate behind it and instead towards the direction of the attack that impacted it. This allows the shield to take blows from significantly stronger sources than standard energy shields. It's made to take Singular, big hits.
  • Fore Diverting:
The explosive pulse of the reactive shielding in the CROSS system causes explosive waves to divert with an opposing force, causing excessive forces to part around the user rather than allowing it to break over them, meaning that this shield is incredibly effective at preventing damage from the likes of explosives which could normally wrap around a held shield or barrier wall.
  • Shield Regrowth:
The CROSS Reactive shields can only create so many layers at once in order to be practical, so, when a layer is lost, the system attempts to regenerate another layer behind all current active layers to reinforce itself. This rate differs from unit to unit based on quality, size etc. But rather than being knocked out and going down requiring reboot or repair, the shield is built to accept that its layers will be destroyed and simply replaces them with more as quickly as it can until its power pack runs out.
  • Insulated:
Ionite-A reinforcing the CROSS system against Ion and EMP based attacks, as well as high quality resistors and circuit breakers in place, the shield system is relatively safe from having its systems overloaded. In fact, it is made with that in mind as the shield 'wants' the layers of its shield to be expended under stress rather than struggling to maintain them, putting much less pressure on the system per impact.
  • Hybrid Shield:
Whether the incoming source of damage is kinetic or energy based, the repulse of the shield is calibrated with both kinetic and wave motions in mind allowing it to repel both, although the shield can be calibrated to favor even exclusively one or the other if required pushing its strengths and weaknesses further to either direction.
WEAKNESSES
  • Death by 1000 Cuts:
The CROSS is best used as a defense against artillery, heavy weapons, explosions and other singular massive impacts, and is incredibly effective at doing so. However, rapid fire weapons although it may take more than one shot to hammer through a layer, are incredibly effective at hewing through multiple layers of shield at a time potentially leaving the user defenseless, quickly.
  • Grand Finale:
The final layer in any reactive shield generator of this kind, due to the nature of their formation does not have a bracing layer behind it to support a unidirectional detonation of force in the return of the direction of the attack that triggered it. Instead, the concussive force is omnidirectional, potentially knocking into the user also.
  • Power Supply:
These shields are in fact power intensive, though each individual layer is far less power intensive than a whole standard shield unit, and maintaining them against assault is less draining, as it has to create them frequently, they can eat massive amounts of power if under constant use leaving the power cell dry, and the shield inoperable.
DESCRIPTION
The CROWN is the first non prototype shield system created by House Aquila developed for the open market, able to be integrated into armour to create a front-facing barrier that can be activated at a moments' notice, or a full-form covering shield capable of wrapping around the entire form of a vehicle such as a speeder, fighter craft, freighter, Cruiser or Capitol Class ship. The technology has been developed in such a manner that the power ratios are healthily scale-able based on the amount of power they have access to thanks to the high quality synthetic materials that they are comprised of.

The shield was tested and has proven effective against blaster sniper fire, thermal grenades and even the dreaded verpine shatter rifle at high calibers, with more unique variants with extreme penetration able to remove two layers with a single shot, but leaving the user defended thanks to the charric far more physical field as well as the counter force it creates. In all cases while using weapons that the shield was employed to be able to deal with, they found that the user was able to survive the assault a staggeringly high sum of the time. Even Ion attacks, while they are effective at tearing the shield down they seldom damage the mechanics of the shield itself or its power source allowing it to regenerate from scratch.

The employment of this shield follows the construction of the Thunderbird Talon Prototype used by Felix Aquila and his close associates. The shield was engineered to be cheaper and more stream-lined, using synthetic materials in order to make it cheaper and more affordable to others in the market. Although its sale and creation is a closely guarded secret held by the Quartermasters Guild, ensuring its sale to allies of the House and the CIS almost exclusively.
