"Right, ME-C1s I need you lot to scout of the surrounding areas, a few natural disasters have occurred and we need to see if there are civilians who might be still in danger or hurt." Kat ordered as she tapped the commands, programming the droids to go on their course of actions. It was a time saving and the droids were a demonstration of being more practical as medical professional to seek out tools that improve her ability to heal others. "M1-NI release the droids and lets head to the medical tent." Kat called out to her astromech, who beeped at her responsively and opened the doors. The astromech had been a solid companion for her lately, noticing that she had been feeling a bit lonely, he stepped up and made sure that he was being less bratty around her.

At least for now.

Stepping outside, Kat let the warm sun burn away some of her tiredness and let her energy build up once more. It was healthier approach than downing several cups of caf. Kat walked towards the medical tent and saw the number of patients there. "I am going to need a drink or ten tonight it seems." Tying her hair into the bun, Kat went to work. Many needed healing, basic medical care and just hydration and food. It was long day of working, Kat was exhausted by the end of it and headed towards the local cantina. She was in need of a relaxation and a way to destress from the day's work. The droids needed another day or so before they reported their findings from the search and rescue.

As Kat walked into the cantina, there was a familiar face that she had not seen in a long time. Walking right over, Kat held a smirk onto her lips. "Vaylin. It has been too long. It is fantastic to see you again!"

For Vaylin it felt like an age had passed since the days of the Sith Empire. Of a time when she had been ‘Darth Moirai’, a prominent figure within the faction during its later years. But after she had finally freed herself from her Sith persona, Vaylin had seemingly disappeared from the face of the galaxy.

It helped that her connection to the Force had been severely depleted, to a point it was barely existent.

The ritual that had been untaken had almost killed her, and probably would’ve if she hadn’t spent years familiarising herself with the Netherworld. And of course, the help she received from Kaalia. The time spent between then and now had been primarily focused on rebuilding her connection to the Force. Vaylin had torn out the Dark, and had already sacrificed her Light. It took a long time for her to eventually find her ‘centre’.

During that time, the Zabrak had adopted a number of different aliases. The one she fell back on regularly, was simply ‘V’. She had practically fallen into becoming an Independent Investigator. Finding a renewed source of excitement and thrill, especially during her Force-less days.

Although sometimes she just took a job that interested her. The latest had brought her out into Wild Space, where a planet had been ravaged by numerous natural disasters. Aid and support had been dispatched to assist, but there were always those in the galaxy that looked to take advantage of the unfortunate. However, unfortunately for those parties, they found an annoyed, lightsaber-wielding Zabrak anytime they tried to board the supply ship.

Today however, found Vaylin planetside helping to defend the locals. Some of the more recent disasters had disturbed the more aggressive wildlife, forcing them towards neighbouring settlements. It became her job to assist in subduing the fauna. Ideally capture and restrain were the objectives, but they weren’t always possible.

Now she was in one of the main towns, where the medics and healers had set up their main base of operations. Its cantina had become a popular spot for relief workers who had finished their shifts. Vaylin was technically such a person, although it wasn’t like she needed a major excuse to get a drink or two.

She perked up at the sound of a familiar voice, turning her head to see an equally familiar face. There was never any forgetting that particular Echani. “It has been too long, Kat.” She offered the woman a smile, though it turned into a smirk as she took in her attire. “Same for you, though I wasn’t aware there had been a change in the uniform for healers.

Kat chuckled deeply as Vaylin commented her outfit. "Well it's something comfortable and stops me getting too warm while working so I think it is perfect for the job. Anyway, not like I am show too much skin." She laughed a little and ordered herself a beer before sitting at the same table as Vaylin, she was keen to see how the Zabrak had been doing.

Taking a long sip of her beer, she enjoyed the taste and the memories of her father being a fan of beers after long, hard days of work. Usually she would not be keen on drinking, having gone through a spell of addiction to it. However, she was different, stronger and knew where triggers for the alcoholism laid. So, she felt safe and confident a drink would not do anything but be something relaxing afterwards.

"How has life been treating you? Still working as a private investigator?" Kat asked, she held a solid memory for those she met before, especially since Vaylin was close with Allyson and Kat had at the time been committed to remembering those close to Allyson. It had been silly but she had been determined to show Allyson that those she surrounded herself were important to Kat.

Now she just wanted to build an honest friendship with someone who offered a hand when Kat was grieving and heartbroken.

Fair point,” Vaylin replied, knowing full well the benefit of maintaining comfort and practicality in one’s outfit. Albeit for the Zabrak, hers was in terms of fighting rather than healing. Though she knew all too well that the Echani could pack a punch if she needed to.

Vaylin watched Kat as she got situated at the table, ordering herself a drink. She didn’t look at all different from when the Zabrak had last seen her. But there was a difference in the way she held herself. Vaylin would admit she didn’t keep herself up to date on those she had crossed paths with, those that she had befriended. But it was apparent that Kat had gone through some changes since their last meeting.

It’s been treating me well, being a private investigator has been fun.” Vaylin paused for a moment to take a sip of her drink. “Well not fun per se, some of the cases have been rough. But you know me, a bit of an adrenaline junkie.

While she might not be Sith anymore, time dedicated to fighting across numerous battlefields. She was still very much one who liked the chase, the pursuit in chasing down a target. Especially if it broke out into a fight, although as time wore on that became a bit less of a desire.

What about you? I’m guessing you’re still flying about, healing where you can?

Nodding her head, "yeah, period of peace isn't the whole story, still plenty of issues out there in the galaxy and means there isn't any rest for people like us." Kat chuckled, "still floating around. I try sticking around Coruscant as much as possible. My niece is working on becoming a Jedi now, so being around and available for her when I can is a priority in my life." Kat wasn't hovering too much since Lily needed to be independent and was clearly wanting to be but she was keen on helping out the young woman when she could.

"Anything exciting going on in your personal life?" Kat asked, taking a sip of her drink as she settled comfortably into her seat and visibly relaxed her body more. It was nice to not be working and to be able to chat with someone who wasn't a work colleague. A chance to distance herself from the medical field and just sit, gossip and relax.

That was something she really needed since there were times she was too deep in work and wasn't able to take a break from it all.
