  • Membership: Civilian personnel are hired or appointed to their jobs just like in any other government agency. Military personnel are promoted to their positions by those above them, and candidates are vetted by promotion boards for all command billets. All high command are chosen by the
  • Climate: The Crossroads Republic Armed Forces is a fairly disciplined organization, with constant oversight and security checks making many feel over-scrutinized with a constant feeling of someone looking over one's shoulder. Bureaucracy is everywhere, often it feels bloated, however it has its purpose, with overlapping fields of authority and responsibility nothing is left to chance.
  • Reputation: Depending on one's political position the Armed Forces are seen as either oppressors, intruders, or protectors. All citizens of Crossroads are required to serve in the military if they wish to maintain their citizenship, and only those with exceptions made do not. Many therefore see the military as just another chapter of their lives. However, most people see the average soldiers, pilots, and crews in the light of athletes due to the way the ever-present wargames are portrayed so commonly in media. As kids, almost everyone in Crossroads school systems take part in the wargames as part of Green Force, they are therefore eager to graduate up to the big leagues and be part of Red and/or Blue Force. Special Forces are seen in a mystical and legendary fashion due to the fact that they mentor Green Force civilian volunteers during wargames as part of their own force-multiplier training.
  • Curios: Active duty military personnel will have a neural implant, an electronic dogtag, and reserve personnel will have one as well. These implants are required proof of identification for civilian life after they receive one. Removing it (Outside of medical reasons) is punishable by jail time. All active-duty personnel also receive a standard pair of dogtags worn in a necklace around their necks made of polished high-Chromium Durasteel. Many ship crews, units, and branches have their own special signature, like tattoos, hats, and unit patches. Special Forces personnel usually have thick beards, and reservists also sport this bearded look as more of a military culture fashion item.
  • Rules: Universal Code of Military Conduct
    • Some notable rules:
      • 1) All citizens between the ages of 17 and 55 are subject to immediate mobilization and are required to report for duty within 30 hours of the mobilization order.
      • 2) Removal or illegal modification of one's military neural implant is strictly forbidden and is punishable by loss of citizenship and imprisonment. Sale of one's military neural implant is punishable by death.
      • 3) Active-duty military personnel are allowed to grow a full beard. To do so, the interested party must request permission from his commanding officer, and then after two weeks they are to report to a board for inspection of their beard. If the beard is grown-in to the satisfaction of the individual's commanding officer and senior non-commissioned officer (i.e. even and full) the individual is given clearance to keep his beard. If it isn't grown-in to the satisfaction of the commanding officer and SNCO they will be ordered to shave it off.
      • 4) All reservist personnel must serve at least five days as part of Green Force for the CRAF Wargames.
  • Goals: Insure the security and interests of the Crossroads Republic.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Formed in the fires of their rebellion against its Hosnian masters the Crossroads Republic Armed Forces cut their teeth on the forces of a Core World, intent on subjugating the profitable far-off Outer Rim colony. In a bloody conflict that lasted from 124 BBY-135 BBY their military forces managed to defeat Hosnian Prime's expeditionary forces one after another until the Hosnian Prime authorities wrote off Crossroads as a loss and the CRAF began to fight on its own against powerful criminal and pirate groups such as the Black Sun, the Hutt Cartel, and small pirate bands. Their efforts to modernize and become a powerful conventional military were put to the ultimate test when the rising power of the Tarkins of Eriadu laid their eyes upon Crossroads and its moons.

Their next big test for the CRAF came in 35 BBY when the Tarkins, manipulating the Eriadu government and the Republic Senate, dispatched a large mining expedition to several of the Crossroads Republic moons in a bid to get the Crossroads Republic to retaliate. This gamble saw the Crossroads Republic Armed Forces swoop in and order the mining expeditions to leave. The Tarkins had no intention to leave, having hired mercenaries to protect these mining operations. But the Crossroads Army responded with a surprisingly vicious combined arms offensive operation, purposely killing each and every one of the mercenaries and obliterating their operations' facilities and rather expensive mining equipment as a clear message to the Tarkins. The Tarkins went on the warpath, and Crossroads did the same. By this time Crossroads was industrially independent, and built its own warships and weaponry and had forged their own proud military tradition of disciplined lethality. The Tarkin and Crossroads Fleets came to vicious blows over Crossroads itself and a small contingent of Tarkin troops were landed on Delfino/Crossroads-2. Again, Crossroads sent a message in blood to the Tarkins, annihilating more than thirty-thousand Tarkin troops, refusing to take any invaders as prisoners. The war lasted barely a month before the Jedi negotiated a ceasefire with the Crossroads Republic Armed Forces claiming victory, leaving more than a hundred-thousand Tarkin dead versus sixty-thousand Crossroads dead.

The latest big test for the CRAF came in 4 ABY, when an Imperial fleet laid siege to Crossroads Prime, but the planet's powerful planetary shield prevented a landing. The moon's skyhooks were the only place that the Empire's Stormtroopers could assault and were met by Crossroads Army troops head-on. The six-month siege was very costly, more than one hundred and fifty thousand Crossroads troops and civilians died, taking a hundred and sixty-thousand Imperials with them. The Crossroads defenses held without even coming close to buckling under the pressure of the Empire's assault, and the Empire soon had other problems that their large but badly-bloodied invasion forces and blockading fleet had a better chance of dealing with.

Ever since then, the CRAF has been gearing itself to face off against an Empire-like adversary, with capital-ship killing weapons, powerful capital ships of their own, and have massively increased the size of their population and industrial base in preparation for such a war. But logistics was known to only be so effective, and the famed Crossroads Republic Armed Forces' Wargames were put into effect, being the most realistic of their kind, giving rise to the CRAF's mantra of "Train like you fight. Fight like you train". This newfound power has been recently flaunted more and more aggressively, Crossroads forces going after pirates criminal syndicates further and further away from Crossroads itself, venturing to the very borders of the CIS at times in the CRAF's zealous hunt for anything that could threaten their trade or their interests.

I have to admit this submission confuses me a little. You have a fleet sub, and an army submission, and this submission for the armed forces overall. It could that the name is throwing me off, but is this simply the umbrella for the Fleet and the Army?

Beyond that there is one MAJOR issues with this submission we need to address:

No. 1. HIERARCHY CONTENT

The majority of the content from this section seems to HEAVILY BORROW from the structure of the United States Department of Defense as outlined here in Wikipedia. There is no link or citation in this submission which indicates that you are borrowing or basing it off the this structure. There is nothing wrong with wanting to use this as a source, but there are two things you need to do.

First: cite the source and tell us you are basing it off the structure
Two: Change the nomenclature to make it your own words and more in line with Star Wars

Without the citation this borders on plagiarism which will not be tolerated. From the codex rules themselves:

Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Small excerpts may be included from other sources in a sub, but they must include a credit, link, and be clearly marked.

You need to HEAVILY edit this section before this can be approved.

There are a couple of other things to address.

No. 2. LINKS

Please correct the link for the Crossroads Army to the submission which is currently under the lore section for live judging, not the one in the pre-codex. It seems that you resubmitted the army rather than having the other moved back, and since that one is currently under review that will be the official sub moving forward.

No. 3. RULES

You reference that the rules are the same as the US Military code of conduct and provide a link. Both of these are not necessary. First, Earth references are not permitted in submissions, and secondly the notable rules you have listed are sufficient for the submission. If you could remove the reference and the link entirely that would be greatly appreciated.

Considering the work that needs to be done on the Hierarchy section I would be more than happy to move this into pre-codex so you can take the time you need to work on this if you would like. Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

Judah Lesan Judah Lesan Edits completed. I got rid of the copy and pasted section. I’ll make those subordinate departments as separate lore sections if I see the need to do so. For now, I just want the overall organization done. The others I believe I’ve fixed.
