Cryax is relatively tall and slender, with lean muscles, and like many Chiss, he benefits from an excellent metabolism that keeps him that way. He wears his blue-black hair short and favors expensive, well-tailored suits befitting a crime lord. It isn't noticable unless he's unclothed, but Cryax has two cybernetic legs with blue synthflesh that mostly matches his natural hue.
BIOGRAPHY:
Cryax grew up in a small village called Soontir on the planet of Bakura in the Outer Rim, the son of a single mother who worked as a scavenger. He never knew his father but suspected that dear old dad was a slicer who worked for some Hutt or another. His mother largely kept the details of his father’s life a mystery hoping for a chance that her son would have a safer life. As a child, Cryax was largely self-taught, choosing to skip school and tinker on his own with found technology. As a natural introvert he honed his computer skills and discovered he was adept at recognizing patterns in code and slicing through well-guarded walls of encrypted data. Curious to see how far he could take his code-breaking, he gradually learned how to gain access to the deepest darkest regions of the HoloNet where he was exposed to and fascinated by the activities of the galaxy's criminal underworld. On the 'Net, he also met other slicers and teamed up with them to do some low level Slice attacks on corporate and government targets.
The young Chiss was also influenced by radical thinkers on the Holonet such as Droids Rights activists. He grew fascinated with reading the history of The Droids Rights papers, the Coalition of Automaton Rights, and the MLF (Mechanical Liberation Front). As someone who felt he related better to machines than humans and near-humans, the idea of freeing Droids from their servitude resonated deeply with him. Eventually at the young age of 14, he was one of the main instigators in a Bakuran event which came to be known as “Droidgate," when he teamed up with other slicers to take down several small government websites in an effort to stop the manufacture of restraining bolts.
Once past his teenage years, Cryax floated around Bakura for a few years doing various technical jobs, mostly blue collar technician work like Droid repair. He eventually found work with a group of scavengers called The Collectors who took him off Bakura and into the far reaches of the Outer Rim. The company was made up of rough bunch of outlaws and fringers, and although they paid him a decent wage, he suffered daily incidents of physical bullying and verbal abuse. He spent four years with the group until he became fed up with their cruel treatment. The straw that broke the camel's back though was the systematic abuse of their scavenger droids, which he felt as sentient beings deserved the same rights as organics. The young Chiss ended up removing the restraining bolts on the group’s entire inventory and set them free. The Collectors were incensed by this sudden and unexpected droid liberation and the whole debacle forced him to jump into an escape pod and flee, going deep into hiding on Nar Shaadaa
After slumming it for a few months, Cryax took a job as a slicer with the Red Ravens Criminal Syndicate on Antecedent in the Outer Rim. The former leader of the faction, Lysle Rigger, saw raw talent in Chiss slicer and soon promoted him to Secretary of their operations. During his tenure as Red Ravens Secretary, Cryax was a behind-the-scenes mastermind of the Syndicate's aggressive push to be the biggest, most infamous faction in the galactic criminal underworld. As time passed, the Chiss had done more than prove himself in the Red Ravens, especially during their victory in the Invasion of Barab I, a planet under Black Sun control. With the organization's former leader away on long-term business in the Fringe, Cryax Bane was promoted to the role of President of the Red Ravens.
Once Bane settled into his new position, the geeky slicer became obsessed with proving that he was worthy of the title. Too much power, too soon, created a walking hubris-filled monster that had a dangerous tendency to go overboard when commanding respect. Eventually, the criminals all fell in line under his leadership. As President of the Red Ravens, not only did the Chiss garner a treaty with the One Sith, but he also lead the Red Ravens in criminal operations that won them control of Hutt space planets such as Syvris and Teth. His tenure was not filled entirely with victories, however. He was captured and tortured twice, the first time by the Yuuzhan Vong Overlord, Dredge, and the second time by Kaine Zambrano. Through a ritual whereby ancient symbols were carved over every inch of the Chiss’ organic body, Cryax was enthralled to Zambrano, and became his puppet.
Due to massive amounts of physical and mental torture, Cryax’s behavior became unpredictable and erratic, and the pressure of running such a large criminal organization, took its toll. In a dramatic turn of events, the Chiss ended up betraying his own organization by slicing into their personal and business accounts and stealing millions from the syndicate, then fleeing to Coruscant and joining the One Sith who welcomed the slicer with open arms.
Finding the Coruscant Underworld to be ripe for the taking, Bane became one of the founding members of the Coruscant Rotary Club, a criminal syndicate that on the surface appeared to be a community association. The CRC’s flower shops, casinos, funeral homes and businesses were all used as fronts for illegal undermarket dealings, such as human trafficking and organ theft.
