- No affinity for the light or dark side of the Force.
- Amplifies the Force within the user.
- An affinity with the Netherworld. The effects depend on the user’s alignment with the Force.
- Light Side: When handled by light-side aligned users, it becomes ‘pure’ with the ability to purify what the dark has touched.
- Dark Side: When handled by dark-side aligned users, it becomes ‘corrupt’ with the ability to corrupt what the light has touched.
- A secondary has been revealed; the ability to utilize the spirits or ghosts. Given the connection to the Netherworld, it acts as a trap for spirits or ghosts looking to escape its clutches. The trapped essence can act as an amplifier for dark-side abilities, for light-side abilities however the essence must consent and if so - can act as an amplifier for light-side abilities.
- Once the essence has been used, spirits continue to reside within the crystal until they either completely rebel against its user and take possession of the body. Consuming it until it and the soul that occupies it is gone, as is the case with dark-side aligned users. Or, they ascend to Glory and in such cases the light-side aligned user also ascends and becomes one with the Force. They however are unable to return as Force Ghosts.
- Once the crystal is devoid of spirits and the user is gone, the crystal will turn to ash.
- Blades that use this crystal are found to be wider and resemble antiquated greatswords in their width. The blade is also longer, and burns hotter than typical lightsabers. When used in blasters, the Force abilities are negated, but the bolts will hit with either positive (light) side energy or negative (dark) side energy.
- Shard: No affinity for the light or dark side of the Force.
- Spirits: Uses spirits/ghosts tied to the Netherworld for boosts.
- Amplifier: Amplifies the powers of the Force user.
- Min/Max: Blasters are able to hold ‘positive’ or ‘negative’ energy when bolts are fired.
- Ash: Will turn into ash, once it’s used up.
- Explosive: Can explode at any time, dark side users beware as this is normally due to the spirits encapsulated. They don’t seem to get along and well, probably don’t like you for trapping them, so, enjoy. Light side users beware, these spirits may just feel that you’ve done all you can and it’s time to ascend. The blast radius is about twenty-five feet for the dark side, and ten feet for light. No light or dark side energy, just boom. [Dark Side, roll 1d10 (6+ Boom) - Light Side, roll 1d20 (11+ Ascend). Not required, obviously, but if you're into that flavor.]
- Consume: Crystal basically consumes ghosts for power, this can lead to an explosion or the Force user being trapped in the crystal themselves if they aren’t careful.
- Death: The crystal is quite good at busting ghosts, even yours. The use of this crystal ties you to its inevitable fate.
- Crystal: The crystal itself is very fragile actually, you can toss it, shoot it, stomp on it and it’d probably break. Just hope there aren’t any spirits in it at the time of dustification. Otherwise, you may find yourself trapped in the Netherworld.
- Untimely: Any untimely breakage of the crystal will most likely result in the user’s spirit being trapped in the Netherworld, have fun.
The Tombstone Crystal was discovered after the events of the Sith Empire’s take over of the planet. Where within an old Imperial jail lurked unruly spirits that had been held captive by a Sith Lord who experimented with fate and science. His experimentation was to somehow give himself immortality. Which he achieved, however; did so at the cost of his body which was consumed. Leaving him stuck between realms as he used the spirits there to keep himself strong in the Force.
Eventually, Darth Immortuos and a team of Sith were able to vanquish or at least subdue the spirit for capture. Darth Avacyn’s apprentice was able to write out the events of that night and the information made its way to the then captive Jedi Knight Mishel. Escorted by Darth Avacyn and her Valkyries, Mishel was taken to the site and began a survey of the area. The survey led to the discovery of these shards, a small cluster of them had been taken by the Valkyries for further study on Mygeeto.
The shard was then split with one going to Darth Immortuos, rumor has it this one happens to possess the soul of the very Sith that had been captured that night. The Valkyries obtained a small number for themselves with at least one of these shards being sent to LT-137 by Darth Avacyn, a gift of gratitude from the Empire to the Master Sun Guard himself.
A smaller quantity of shards have been left with Mishel’s company, Siverra Lightsabers, currently managed by her sister, Alessandra Creed .
