TECHNICAL INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • In order to combat a perceived overreliance on external tools and weaponry amongst common droid models, a Custodian's left arm is able to shift into a generic omnitool that includes a scomp link and its right can function as a stun blaster or, on some models, a conventional blaster. In riot control scenarios these droids typically wield shields in their left hand and easily stowable stun batons in their right.
  • A Custodian's personality matrix comes in several base configurations and can be further modified by customers or by Draxin itself; in all its forms the droid tends to display a fanatical devotion to rules and regulations. Listed below are some more notable variants:
    • Aurek-3 ("Affable Aurek"): Sociable, friendly, and endlessly optimistic, Affable Aurek is most commonly employed by especially friendly governments and PR-conscious totalitarian regimes. | Notable Quotes: "Good afternoon, citizen. Can I help you with that bag?" "Please be advised that destroying this unit will result in a heavy fine, apologies for the inconvenience and thank you for your time." "Greetings and good evening, delinquent! It is my pleasure to repeatedly introduce this baton to your soft parts."
    • Besh-7 ("Baleful Besh"): Ruthless, efficient, and famously concise, Baleful Besh is commonly seen protecting eccentric celebrities or enforcing the will of tyrants. | Notable Quotes: "CURFEW BREACH! SUBMIT TO INSPECTION!" "Do not touch the Baron, scum!"
    • Forn-5 ("Forlorn Forn"): Amongst the rarest of the Custodians' numerous personalities, only the truly eccentric employ Forlorn Forn due to its tendency to simulated existential dread and depression alike. Why would anyone want this in a police droid? Draxin doesn't know, it was submitted by the public and voted into the base selection, presumably as a joke. | Notable Quotes: "Existence is futile, why then do you bother breaking the law?" "This unit takes comfort in its imminent destruction." "While this unit is required by law to offer you assistance in your plight, it notes that the life it is about to save is as pointless as everything else."
    • Resh-5 ("Rigid Resh"): Of all their varied personalities, Rigid Resh is by far the most inflexible; as such, it is popular with humourless bureaucrats, efficiency-focused governments, and Muuns. | Notable Quotes: "Notice: Unlawful Gathering. Conclusion: Disperse or be fined." "This unit is not a designated guide. Proceed to a designated guide." "This unit is not programmed for humour, please disperse."
STRENGTHS
  • Capable Enforcer: Custodians are precise if uninspired combatants, agile enough to catch up with the average human thief on foot, resistant enough against kinetic force to shrug off fists, bricks, and primitive kinetic weapons in most cases, and, as is to be expected of a police droid, are utterly relentless and perfectly incorruptible... assuming, of course, that they aren't sliced or commanded by corrupt individuals.
  • Expendable: While not quite as cheap as, say, a B1, Custodians are still very much expendable and cheaper in the long run than all but the most underpaid of organic security personnel - and unlike the former, they never sleep, take bribes, or demand a raise.
WEAKNESSES
  • Limited Cognition: Infamously inflexible even by droid standards, so as to preclude all but the faintest possibility of going rogue, Custodians are ill-suited for critical thinking and complex investigations - they are meant to supplement, not replace, organics/more advanced droids.
  • Limited Armour: Even lighter blaster weapons will punch through a Custodian's limited armour with repeated fire or good aim, actual blaster rifles or heavy blaster pistols will more often than not drill a hole through whichever part it hits - better hope it's not important.
DESCRIPTION
With the current state of the galaxy, the business of colonisation is riskier than ever - not only does one need to worry about angry natives, greedy pirates and inhospitable biospheres, but also about government-sanctioned raiding, bloody wars, and hordes of genocidal aliens.

Commissioned alongside the C1 Security Drone in response to the former, the CS1, better known as the Custodian, is sturdier and more sociable than its flying cousin but lacks its relative plethora of integrated weaponry, carrying only the equivalent of a blaster pistol and any external weapons.

Although designed to fulfil a wide range of law enforcement roles, from traffic control to paperwork and even less complex investigations, these droids are perhaps best known for their impressive performance in riot control functions, their resilience against physical assaults allowing them to corral anything short of an armed rebellion with mechanical efficiency...

... despite this, they typically employ less brutal methods than organic officers due to a variety of factors, most prominently a lack of concern for their own physical well-being, the lack of quick tempers and inconvenient emotions, and the simple fact that a droid has to be programmed to beat down civilians if it is to do so, rendering excuses about bad apples ineffectual to the point of absurdity.
