STANDARD FEATURES

ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Enhanced Sensor Suite
Strengths:
  • Powerful Sensors: Outfitted with the cutting edge of Chiss sensor technology, the Csecisvah is extremely good at what it does, though it lacks the specialised equipment necessary to overcome proper stealth technology.
  • Expeditious Patrols: With its high speed and exceptional hyperdrive, the corvette is capable of rapidly covering a lot of ground during its patrols, drastically decreasing the number of vessels needed to secure the Ascendancy's borders.
  • Unmanned: Being fully unmanned, the Csecisvah is more expendable than vessels manned by expensive Chiss personnel, among other things making ramming actions a viable option.
  • Chiss Paranoia: The vessel is outfitted with a constantly broadcasting all-clear signal, a near infallible self-destruct protocol, and a deck layout that makes it very difficult to board, at least for most organics, partly due to the lack of life support, but primarily due to a bizarre design filled with vertical shafts, tiny hallways, no discernible markings of any kind, and various booby traps. Not to mention the lack of artificial gravity and inertial compensators.
Weaknesses:
  • Droid Ship: Fully automated except for some minor functions performed by mobile droids, should the vessel be struck by a sufficiently strong electromagnetic pulse or have its ionisation buffers overwhelmed, it would be left dead in the water and unable to recover save for automated rebooting sequences.
  • Patrol Ship: Primarily intended to provide surveillance and deal with the occasional criminal, the only capital-grade weapon on the ship is a single Megamaser; everything else is smaller anti-starfighter weaponry. For that reason, this vessel is all but useless against anything larger than a gunship.
  • Unmanned: As a fully unmanned vessel, the Csecisvah lacks the adaptability, creativity, and unpredictability of ships crewed by organics.
  • Cry Wolf: While indisputably useful, a clever opponent could exploit the vessel's all clear signal in order to trick the Chiss, e.g., by luring a response force into an ambush or attacking these vessels with a small force while the main force is elsewhere.
Description:
The Chiss suffered greatly under foreign tyrants after the fall of the previous Ascendancy, and the Chiss do not forget easily.

Created to enforce its borders, monitor its space, and serve as an early warning system against foreign invaders, the Csecisvah is a dedicated patrol ship; entirely unmanned and sporting an impressive sensor package. Additionally, it has been outfitted with a truly impressive 0.3 Hyperdrive, as opposed to the Chiss Standard 1.25, though it is unable to make the microjumps for which the Chiss are famed. Fortunately, there is little need for such fine manoeuvring for it to fulfil its role, as speed is far more important when it comes to covering as much ground as possible.

In addition to serving as a patrol ship, the vessel is capable of serving as a customs ship, and with some modification could be used to monitor holo transmissions and the like as a dedicated surveillance ship. The vessel is not, however, suited for conventional military duty, for a number of reasons, though they could be used to ram enemy vessels in a pinch. This is an expensive and usually inadvisable tactic, however.

t literally impossible to board,
If you'll remove "literally impossible to board" from this section. While it's true that it would be difficult for a typical person to board it, this might not be an issue for certain aliens, creatures, or droids that don't use or have typical humaniod physiology (being exceptionally small, using repulsorlift propulsion, etc).

Having a x0.3 hyperdrive will necessitate having a significant weakness or rating deduction elsewhere to balance this out.

Done. Changed to "... that makes it all but impossible to board, at least for most organics, ...". Of course, there wouldn't be any consoles, terminals, or manual overrides for organics aboard, so they better be ready to do some complicated slicing.

Lowered defences to "Low". Was unsure whether that would contradict the difficulty of boarding it, but decided that since most of the internal security is due to design choices and the removal, not addition, of basic systems then that shouldn't be a problem.

In general, it's good to stay from absolutes like "impossible" in submissions. "All but impossible" is still too strong of a wording. If you wanted to say something like "very difficult", that'd be fine.

Balancing for the exceptionally fast hyperdrive looks good now.

Done. Apologies for misunderstanding your first statement.

I'd rather remove the megamaser from the armament as it is a weapon for larger capital ships.

Done. I was under the impression that a megamaser was merely the maser equivalent of a Turbolaser. Then again, this phrase: "... that was used by the Chiss Ascendancy aboard large capital ships ..." could certainly be interpreted in such a way that it is only suitable for larger vessels, though the fact that the CSD itself lists the megamaser and turbolaser in the same way, e.g., "Light X/Heavy X" might indicate that this is merely a tactical choice, not a choice of necessity. Nevertheless, all references to a megamaser have been removed from the submission.
