- Optimized Flight Decks: The Zephyr's purpose flight decks are well optimized for the launching, refueling, rearming, and repair of its fighter or support craft complement, enabling them to get back into battle faster than a regular, generalist ship might
- Single Craft Hangar: It contains one small personal hangar for ships up to fifty meters in size, typically used for guests or the commander's personal starship.
- Well-Balanced: The Zephyr is a well-balanced pocket carrier/frigate designed to handle a wide variety of military situations from supporting ground operations to small scale space combat along with stealth or open operations. It also serves as an (expensive) mobile home from Aculia and the small retinue of mercenaries/former XIII Battlegroup members who decided to stay with her as she starts a new chapter of her life.
- Expensive and Hard To Acquire Technology: This frigate consumed most of Aculia's personal and corporate wealth over the years to finance as the Elysium Empire faded from a major faction to a minor one, and is personally customized to being a home for her and her small outfit that is all that is left of the once-vaunted XVIII Battlegroup. It also hosts technology that is now pretty difficult to acquire, given the fall of both the Eternal Empire and the Elysium Empire from major powers and much of the designs being her own company's.
The effective "collapse" of large portions of the galaxy's major players due to either war or other geopolitical factors was a trying time for Aculia Voland , who had been serving the Elysium Empire as the admiral of the faction's XIII Battlegroup. Unfortunately, despite her efforts, she and her forces could not escape the fate of many of the galaxy's other military powers. Deciding to salvage what she could as the Empire's authority across its holdings collapsed and effective anarchy began to set in, she saw to the comparatively orderly dismantling of her forces, ensuring her soldiers exited with a hefty severance package for their families, and salvaged what resources and credits she could while inviting any of her former men who wished to join her on new adventures to come with her. A decent, if miniscule amount compared to the overall size of the former XIII Battlegroup agreed, and thus the modification of her former flagship, an Aspis-Class pocket carrier, began. It would transition into something quite different from what it had been before.
First, the engines and thrusters were downsized to provide more room for the heavy armament that would be necessary to operate as an independent vessel as opposed to working together with Aculeo mini carriers per her former military doctrine, although this downgrade was not too devastating in the sense that it would still retain decent speed and maneuverability for a vessel of its class. This also necessitated a reduction in available hangar space, although it still possesses the ability to field a respectable amount of either support craft or strikecraft. In exchange, it greatly increased its ability to threaten other vessels and ground forces as an individual ship, now able to fit in the vaunted torpedoes and VLS missiles of the Voland Class "space submarines", along with a respectable amount of laser cannons and turbolaser batteries for its size. It was also fitted with the former Eternal Empire's unmatched stealth technology, which had been given to her in exchange for her service, enabling it to handle covert operations as well. Overall, this resulted in a highly customized, and disturbingly expensive, pocket carrier which is more or less all that remains of the XIII Battlegroup, and upon which she spent most of her wealth.
In the end, although Aculia may be depressed and disillusioned about the major powers of the galaxy and her own failures, the Zephyr is a place where she and her retinue can find refuge.
