The Heir
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Born to a distant branch of the House of Marr, Custos was raised as any heir to the great Darth Marr, born a noble, lived a noble, displaying the red eyes of the House, and the force sensitivity to match, Custos was set in life, to be raised in comfort, with a name, a lineage, bringing him all the comforts and excess that he would need.
However, Custos did not desire such a life for himself. He wished for glory, he wished for greatness, to be a warrior like the soldiers of the Imperial Sith Armed Forces who won victory out in the periphery of the Empire. Thus it was, that he at the age of sixteen volunteered to join the Marr Household Guard, to be placed within an elite unit, that would see the thickest of fighting.
As the Sith Empire began to disintegrate.
The Guard would fight at the periphery of the Sith Empire, from campaign to campaign, from fighting the forces of the Jedi to the Crusaders, to the Imperial rebels, to the Eternalists, to even Sith splinters. Custos would fight in each and every battle, the young man wanting glory and greatness giving away to a man who only wished to protect those who he loved. Every battle would give him a scar, a reminder of the closeness of death, himself closing in on himself as he continued to fight.
The Guard would take terrible losses in those days, as the war left the periphery and reached the core of Sith Space.
Seeing the writing on the wall, the Marr family resolved to escape back to their home, Jutrand.
The Guard remained behind, buying what time they could.
It would be said that half the Guard would be wiped out.
But Custos lived, leading what was left of the Guard to an exodus to the other side of the galaxy, his only goal still to serve the House of Marr, to protect his family.
When the Guard finally set down upon Jutrand, aiding to destroy the Jedi presence on the planet, when Custos met a baby Malum, something changed in the man.
For years the Guard would do little more than protect the House of Marr, mostly on Jutrand but too spread out across other planets like Eliad, with Custos himself serving as the sworn shield and sword to young Malum, training him in the use of the lightsaber, and the art of making war.
His only failure then would be failing to stop the young Malum in his attempt to reach Korriban, for that year, Custos would spend himself looking for his charge with obsessive intent. That was only for the Marr heir to return, and be exiled to Saijo, but now.
Now, Custos finds himself at war again, subordinate to the Scion that he had helped raise, wanting nothing more than to protect him, and the Guard. Whatever it takes.

- Slowing - The counter to the mental benefits of age is the physical, Custos having fought for decades has seen physical decline and has thus grown slower as a result, far from the quick young man he was.
- Lack of Training in the Force - Unlike most of the House of Marr, though Custos is a force sensitive, he never trained himself far into the Force, rather joining the Guard at a young age, and being content instead to be a soldier, and bodyguard to the others of the Marr family.
