Allows organics to directly interface with electronic systems.
At the speed of thought: The cyberlink connects directly to the central nervous system of the user allowing them to bypass user interfaces, making the delivery of commands that little bit faster and more efficient each time.
The silent voice: The system allows for a two way flow of data, meaning if connected to a commlink, communications can be carried out without the need to speak, making the cyberlink a perfect choice for commandos and other special operations units.
Direct connection required: Unlike the Borg Construct on which it was based the Cyberlink can’t access systems remotely. In order to connect they user needs to establish a direct wired connection.
Feedback: Although the cyberlink itself is protected against EMP and contains firewalls against cyber intrusion if the system to which the user is attached is hit by an EMP they will suffer disconnection feedback, similiarly to if they were foorcibly disconnected, which will leave them dizzy and unable to focus until they recover. (OOC: Anyone attempting to hack via the cyberlink should be treated as any other attack, and the user determines the hit, or if the firewalls were capable of keeping them out)
In the world of power armour based warfare, combatants can move faster and hit harder than ever before, so fast in fact that a second, or even half a second’s extra speed is an advantage that every manufacturer is looking for. Locke and Key were no exception, utilising their expertise in cybernetics the company created the Cyberlink Implant, a cybernetic connection which linked up the implantee directly into their power armour, or any other set of electronics.
The design for the Cyberlink was based heavily upon the Borg Construct designed by Biotech Industries. However, where the Borg Construct created a cybernetic link, Locke and Key were looking for something more discrete, that would be mostly unnoticeable to its user when they were going about their lives. They were forced to significantly scale back on the capabilities of the Borg Construct, no longer was there a wireless connection, instead, a hardwired connection to the electronic device you were hoping to interface with was required. Given that the implant was originally conceived to link upto armour systems that was seen as a positive trade since a wireless link might be affected by ECM. The system could also be used to link to other systems, from communications to ships, the only limitation was the mental user interface.
While connected to the system by the Cyberlink an operator is capable of reacting faster than normal. This is because where a normal powersuit responds to your actual motions, one outfitted with a cyberlink is responding to your thoughts, cutting out the middleman of your body as it were. The suit is effectively a part of your body, and allows you to react as so. This does apply to other systems, for example a user plugged into a turret would be able to move it faster than if they were inputting commands.
