Cygnus Spaceworks
Private Company under the Imperial Department of Military Research
CORPORATION INFORMATION
DESCRIPTION
Absolute privacy and secrecy are the core principles of the new Cygnus Spaceworks. This has severely limited the extent and range of its operations, with specific emphasis on reducing the company's presence in the galactic public. Thus, many of its operations are located deep within the New Imperial Order, its primary customer and overlord, choosing only to negotiate with the organization's officials and officers. The company does offer individual sales through backdoor channels, smuggling its products to the outskirts and barren parts of the galaxy.
Cygnus Spaceworks also goes through immense efforts to protect and hide its intellectual property, building in numerous failsafes and restrictions to prevent its technology to be reverse-engineered. These measures are both technical and spiritual, as their true creations are a complex amalgamation of technology and Sith alchemy derived from Gordon's innate and warped variant of mechu-deru. Outside of protections over their products, the company will also sacrifice any ethics or morales to guard their secrets, upholding their own employees to inhumane standards. Any employees who wished to retire or quit had to undergo an extensively exhaustive memory wipe process, involving fragging parts of their brain and having a Sith Master of mind control comb through their minds. The process would most definitely leave them braindead, and so the other option of summary execution was significantly more popular and utilized. Many employees already gave up on retiring or quitting, accepting their fate to be forever tied to Cygnus Spaceworks. Low-level military personnel were the only ones who did have to suffer this fate, and even then, Gordon very reluctantly allowed them the one option to be transferred to the New Imperial Order with an exploding slave collar. For any enemies or corporate spies, they suffered far worse fates than a life time commitment to the organization.
Fortunately for the galaxy, Cygnus Spaceworks had the highest and most stringent standards for pre-screening and recruiting employees so the number of employees only numbered a few hundred, a thousand at best. Instead, there was a heavy reliance on artificial intelligences and droids to take up any non-essential role and any organics were vaulted as the elites in their field to have a spot there. That being said, any employee was compensated a hundred times whatever any competitor would offer and there was the unspoken opportunity of fulfilling any of their wishes or desires. Gordon's immense wealth and celestial technology trivialized many problems, and he had no issue of rewarding his employees fairly for their contributions. There was even an insane level of employee benefits and perks, if they could ignore the lifetime commitment that often came with extreme restrictions to their personal freedoms.
In terms of products, Cygnus Spaceworks was specialized in research and development, focused on making new designs and technologies to fuel Gordon's desperate desire to reach the pinnacle of technology. An impossible goal, but immortality and clear steps toward progress made it seem a possibility for him. Clients had full access to his advanced products and applications of his research and could also commission specific innovations. Retaining Cygnus Spacework's value of perfectionism and stretching that to its extremes, Gordon would directly oversee any project and ensure its perfection, even resorting to personally handcrafting the device or vessel.
RATIONALE
Cygnus Spaceworks was a stagnant shipbuilding company that prided itself in its clean and aesthetic starship profiles and appearances. Innovation was at the bottom of the company's interests, preferring to maintain and continue selling its presumed perfected and elegant design. Instead of developing new products and technologies, Cygnus opted to replace any obsolete parts and improve old components, emphasizing the preservation of their legacy creations. This dedication to excellence of its few products such as the Abecederian line was prized in times of stability but was eclipsed and crushed during times of galaxy-ending warfare and turmoil.
More than eight hundred years after the Battle of Yavin, Cygnus Spaceworks was a husk of its former glory, its assets dwindled to a single, dilapidated shipyard and its employees serving as glorified maintenance crews. Gordon was in the market for a shell company for his private research and development efforts and immediately bought full ownership of the company. Relocating the few remaining employees to the capital of the New Imperial Order and scrapping the shipyard, he is constructing a new legacy.
