SUMMARY
Cyressa Tiberos was born the daughter of Raynard and Miriam Tiberos on the planet Dantooine, its lakes and forests as vast and untamed as her own spirit. Her family, a minor noble house, had long chafed under the yoke of their Renoux overlords, believing in the importance of individual freedom.
From the moment she drew breath, Cyressa's parents poured love and knowledge into her young mind, eager to shape her into a proper member of their house. For the first four years of her life, she basked in their affection, content to watch and learn from their examples.
But when she turned five years old, her world was shattered by rebellion.
Believing that their house had grown to such a state that they should be able to run their own affairs without the oversight of House Renoux, her father led a doomed uprising against the ruling family - fueled by years of resentment and a desire for more power and control over their own lands.
However, her father would prove no match against the might of Lord Ulysses Renoux who crushed the Tiberos rebellion by ravaging their homes and livelihoods and burning them to the ground. Those who dared to ally with the fallen house were promptly executed and the survivors were forced to pledge their loyalty to Lord Renoux or face the same fate as Tiberos and his rebels.
Following the uprising, Cyressa was taken as the Lord's ward and hostage, her fate sealed when the Lord promised to betroth her to his son and raise her amongst his own children.
At first, Cyressa clung to the vestiges of her former life, determined to honor her family's memory and ideals. But as the years dragged on, she learned the hard truth of her situation. Lord Ulysses Renoux kept her alive not out of kindness, but as a tool to control and subjugate her house.
In the shadow of his children she grew, keeping herself small and often downplaying her own flourishing skills in a desperate attempt to find her place in a world that wasn’t her own. Despite the many obstacles and hurdles, over time she developed close and complex bonds with some of the other children, coming to view them with a deeply rooted fondness in spite of their ties to a family that’d destroyed hers.
As the years passed and she reached the cusp of adulthood, Cyressa became more restless in her role as the dutiful ward, finding it difficult to accept the idea of her fate being decided for her by others and wishing to venture out and reclaim her house's sovereignty, to assert her own independence. It was a path she knew would be fraught with dangerous pitfalls and uncertain outcomes, any misstep could mean the end of the life she’d worked so hard to build, the world she’d learned to call home.
It meant risking everything.
