Description:

D-K7 came off the assembly line as a security-class droid only. Some of it's functions included protecting buildings, landing pads, and escorting high-profile business people. The droid is limited to that capacity only - never to be used or intended as a battle droid. KSLH wanted to create a different class of droid other than their traditional battle droid lines, D-K7 gave them just that.

As a security droid, D-K7 is not equipped to handle dangerous scenarios like full-on combat, but as a security droid - or police droid - it can handle the basics like guarding rooms, prisoners, or sensitive materials. It comes equipped with two types of stun weapons - neither are lethal but both are intended to subdue. The shotgun is the only lethal weapon it carries - and the weapon has a limited range - which it uses to defend. The droid is programmed to capture and subdue first - while killing any target is secondary.

To continue with the style of subduing potential threats the droid has a complex communication system - the linguistic module and the TL III communication module - where it is programmed with over six million dialects. D-K7 has the ability to 'negotiate' with threats to prevent any escalation of hostilities.

Since it is a poorly armed security droid - it does possess the capabilities to protect it self through it's armour and shielding. The energy shield provided gives D-K7 excellent protection - but at the cost of power draining on the shield. It's modular plating is light-weight to give the droid more movement (compared to heavy plating) and more resistance to high-impact weapons and projectiles but in the end - it's still light-weight class armour. More powerful weapons or continued hits will by-pass the armour.

A remote viewer was added to the droid to give it assistance in tracking hostiles or to aid it in routine patrols. KSLH had opted out of using an internal communication system and instead went with the basic wrist com link. The link itself can be programmed to work on different frequencies (for security purposes) outside the ones being used by those that employ them.

Much debate took place behind closed doors of the motivation circuit. Some felt it would be better to have the droids linked to a central system that would allow the droids to be controlled by a single person (Head of Security for example). Others felt that if one person controlled the entire droid squad - it could hamper their function if the person was killed or corrupted by credits. So the circuit was installed after a vote to allow each droid the ability to assess the situation and act accordingly but it does not possess the ability to have 'free will' or 'think on it's own' outside hostile situations.
