D&D Anyone?

Anyone here play good ol' fashioned Dungeons and Dragons? I know it's not a video game, because I'm talking about the tabletop experience and not the lame MMO, but I figured I'd post this in the gaming forum to see who else plays.

Mainly because I made a pretty cool character creation template for a new Elder Scrolls campaign my bros and I are about to endure, and I though others would want to see it.

I've played and dm'ed for roughly 19 years. 2nd Edition still stands as my favorite system because it's the one I started with. That said I'm extremely impressed with 5th Edition and how it takes something good from its predecessors and mixes it all together in a playable and easy to learn fashion. Nights gathered around the table til the break of dawn stand as some of my fondest memories.

We've only played one campaign that was an actual campaign from the books (we have all the books from all the editions in PDF form). We've ended up playing mostly custom campaigns using Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Star Wars as our baselines.

I've played D&D before. Been a loooooooong time though. Recently I have played the equivalent of old fashioned D&D, but within the Marvel universe instead. I've got heaps of game work books, guides and maps for both D&D and Marvel.

I'm too much of a writer.

I've played 3.5 and 4E DnD, but I always find myself feeling that the experience isn't as fulfilling as if I were able to write out the character's scene, or be able to read the stories behind the other characters in the scene.

I've played some 3.5 and 4e. But like Zak said. These days I just pbp RP instead. Still feels like the game. Just without all the stats. :)

I'm a DM, 3.5. Play with my friends as often as I can, not as often as I'd like. I like telling stories, and weaving tales and worlds for my friends. Watching their awe and shock as horrific and wondrous things happen in the world I've made for them.

No, I've never played D&D before in my life. I just write gaming blogs about it for the giggles. >.>

Haven't touched it in a while, anyway. I've played every edition since AD&D, but recently I've been more interested in other systems.

with [member="Andras Garon"] as our DM I have enjoyed every session he has put on. But my favorite would of been Warhammer Fantasy Rpg. Was by far the longest campaign we have ever endured and the most exciting. Dark and gritty with death around every corner. Especially to kick it off our first "random" encounter was a wyvren that nearly ended us all.

Played it, 3.5 and 4e. Loved them. Since I moved to where I am now though, haven't been able to find a group to play with.

I enjoy having background, and will typically try to flesh out my character's background at the least. I'm not a DM, but I do encourage other players in the group to do the same, or at least have a framework of a past. Makes things more interesting.
