DESCRIPTION
Dissident was the name of the third lightsaber created and wielded by the former Jedi Knight, Sor-Jan Xantha. For more than six decades, the Anzat had wielded a lightsaber. Though he found the experience of physical combat to be annoying, he recognized that his trained skill with a lightsaber still made having one the best option for him. However, as he had come to believe that serving the Jedi had perpetuated a lie that had cost millions of lives across the galaxy, Sor-Jan found he no longer cared to carry around a physical reminder of his time with the Galactic Republic or the Galactic Alliance, leading to the creation of a third lightsaber that more accurately depicted his modern sensibilities.
A radical departure from his earlier lightsabers, Dissident reflected the Anzat's change in outlook as a result of the Clone Wars in 19 BBY and the collapse of the Galactic Alliance in the 850s ABY, both events that he was present for as a result of the accident that enabled him to survive Order 66.
The antithesis of Jedi philosophy, Dissident's physical design reflected the boy's time with the Knights Obsidian of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, as well as its predecessor in the Techno Union. The technical arrangement made use of a high-end focusing lens used in projection units manufactured by Corellia Digital rather than a kyber crystal. In lieu of a diatium power cell, an ion power cell was routed through a discharge assembly that allowed for regulated power surges.
Because of the entirely mechanical construction of the lightsaber, it had a completely neutral Force signature, unlike either of Sor-Jan's previous lightsabers, which were attuned to the Light Side of the Force. When ignited, the blade was silvery white.
Strengths:
- Can cut through many materials with relative ease.
- Discharge Energy Cell: Power output discharge can be increased for more powerful strikes.
- Cortosis will short the blade if in contact.
- Cannot operate in water. Immersion will short out the emitter matrix, requiring repair before the lightsaber will be operational again.
