Classification: Mountain Range

Location: In the Kingdom of Draidori Eastern Province, Irkiir, upon the planet Solein

Size: Extensive, taking up the North Eastern plains of Draidori.

Population: Small compared to the rest of Draidori, mostly condensed into the Citadel of Govoldeim, though a few minor settlements exist around the foot of the mountains.

Demographics: 100% Soleil, with various Fauna

Points of Interest: The Citadel of Govoldeim, The Crystal Caves of Kas

Description:

Located along the easternmost reaches of Draidori, Daamias is the largest mountain range on the continent and is set in an almost complete state of twilight. Said to be the specific origin of Solein's name, given the ever-orange hue to the region's sky, it is one of the oldest and most defensible positions in Draidori - possibly all of Solein - and once housed not only the Province's Jarl but a former High King of Draidori itself. The climate is bleak, as though set in an eternal winter, with frozen caps atop each peak.

While there are various minor settlements dotted along the mountain range, albeit mostly at its base, the only significant one is Govoldeim, a vast Citadel nestled into the snowy peaks. It is so ancient and impenetrable that its people deem Govoldeim and Daamias itself another Province entirely. Whilst the rest of Solein refuse to acknowledge this claim, there has never been a successful attack on Govoldeim to assert Draidori's hold over it.

You may think that the cold climate would be enough to starve them out, but the people of Daamias have developed methods to remain self-sufficient over the years. Despite the frigid landscape that Govoldeim is set into, it houses numerous glass structures which utilize the ever present dusk sun to its full potential - heating up the air within to allow for optimum conditions in which to grow crops and in turn farm animals.

Nestled into one of the peaks, known as Kas, is a vast cavern which was unearthed centuries before the Expansive War, when Force Users first landed upon the planet. Inside there lies a vast array of colour and power crystals, which possess no unique properties. The Crystal Caves of Kas have been used by the Order of the Dawn as part of The Gathering, a Jedi Tradition where Younglings collect their Lightsaber Crystals. Even the Order of Dusk have used it, though they tend to be attracted solely to the rarer orange crystals rather than the green and blue which are in abundance.

History:

Naturally, a landmark such as Daamias has existed for longer than the History of Solein has been documented. Soleil have settled at its base for millennia, though it wasn't until a few hundred years prior to the Expansive War that a more permanent structure was erected.

Govoldeim was the vanity project of Jarl Gûldrun, though it was not completed until his Great Grandson Frea took over leadership of Irkiir. A jewel on Draidori's icy crown, and the long standing legacy of the Govoldeim line, the Citadel would end up housing thousands of individuals from across the continent who journeyed for work or to marvel at the creation.

As time went by, however, the Citadel grew into its own; the High King of Draidori deemed it so defensible that he chose to rule from it in the wake of the Expansive War, where he and his people remained unaffected by the horrors inflicted by the explosion. With this came future realisation that the Citadel was all but impenetrable - at least, with the limited technology available to the Soleil after the fallout of the War.

When the High King moved on from Govoldeim the Citadel's doors were closed, while the Jarl of Irkiir forsake his position and declared Daamias its own Province. The High King wasted the lives of many men trying to prove otherwise, before giving in. While it would never officially be its own Province, for the most part the self-proclaimed Jarl of Daamias, and those which followed, were left to their own devices, holed up in their Great Citadel away from the Wars which raged down below.

Intent: To flesh out Solein and give life to the Mountains that [member='Ayvari Dorian'] grew up in.
